It's going to be an rpg where you choose a dragon and you turn into it in battle and you compete with others! If you have any ideas don't be afraid to post them!

ELAN RULES!!!!!!!!!!:elan:
Example: Elan
Dragon: the singing terror
str: 5
Bravery: 5
Style: 999

Krom
Dragon: Iron High Drake
str: 15
Bravery: 12
Style: 12
HP: 37

So...
what is Str used for?
what is bravery used for?
how do you determine those numbers?

You roll a d20 to determine the bravery str and style.
( I only used 999 as a joke)
by the way you don't need a picture
Rules:
one player challenges another
roll dice to see who goes first post result( don't cheat)
attacker(higher roll) chooses a catagory
defender( lower roll) must either give up (dragon loses hp equal to catagory) or beat roll(then attacker loses hp)
hp is rolled by a d20 3 times
you level up every time you beat a dragon
Level up: roll a d6 3 times and add that to one catagory of your choice
Get it?:smallwink:
some battles might take longer than others

Oh yeah.
chooses an element
fire beats ice, holy, and steel
water beats fire
ice beats water and steel
earth beats fire
grass beats ice and water
steel beats earth and grass
dark beats ice and steel
holy beats dark
if you win against the element then you get +5 in the battle catagory.

sooooo.. it is going to be based on your luck of the dice roll more then builds....

so let me do this:

Name:Mr unstopable
Dragon:Too much luck
Hp:60
Str:20
bravery:20
Style:20
Element:fire

To be honest I find this system unbalanced, the way I loko at it fire is the best element since it beats the most other elements. And please don't say tat some people will play what beats fire because I hate easy combacks liek that.

The unbalanced elemental affinities do seem a rather unnecessary complication.

Additionally, rolling d20s for stats is probably a poor choice. It's an incredibly random spread. Random initiative is something I'm actually ok with, actually.

As is, let me break down what you have here:

Stat One: 1 - 20
Stat Two: 1 - 20
Stat Three: 1 - 20
Health: 3 -60.

The stats come out so random that a dragon could be absolutely pathetic in all three stats but still have an ungodly amount of hp, leading to situations where winning is impossible and the game is just a countdown to 'finally out of health'.

Try removing the randomness from character creation, giving the different stats unique meanings, and getting that elemental affinity business sorted out.

Sorry, it was too late when I realized I had redesigned most of it... you might take a look if interested...
As an example, you might say the following:

I don't see how a defending dragon could "beat the roll"/win if the one to go first selects the Stat to be tested.
The one to win initiative chooses a Stat, but the defendant rolls randomly to determine what defense will be used and:

Bravery gains +2 against Style and wins in a tie
Strength gains +2 against Bravery and wins in a tie
Style gains +2 against Strength and wins in a tie

And...

Strength: 6 + 2d6 (average 13, range 8-18)
Bravery: 6 + 2d6 (average 13, range 8-18)
Style: 2 + 4d4 (average 12.5, range 6-18)
HP: Strength + Bravery + 1d20 (average 31.5, range 7-56)

Strength & Bravery 6+2d6 give you more even results without changing everythign into mediocrity.

Style 2+4d4 gives even more average results, can be the failsafe if Str and Bra result too low. But as a downside for that, will have a really hard time getting a "17" or "18".

HP = Strength + Bravery again, gives you more even results while +1d20 allows for some decent variation.

Example:

KRAKEN!
http://cryptozoologia.galeon.com/images/kraken1.jpgStrength: 18
Bravery: 11
Style: 13
HP: 43

I choose to go with Land Outcast's rules and you don't roll, you must have a higher number than the opponent.:smallsigh:

I think you might be better off making a post in Ongoing Games or Silly Message Board Games. This sub-forum is mostly for the talking and the homebrewing and such. :smalltongue:
