View Full Version : [3.5] Getting to Wand Benign Transposition... on a Cleric. No Magic Domain.

So, one of the most awesome wand spells ever, perhaps behind Lesser Vigor, is Benign Transposition. The only CL-dependent part of it is range, and with medium range you'll rarely find that an issue.

Now I want to have a Cleric able to use one of these, but I'm having trouble.

Hypothetical solutions that have already been examined and turned down:

Level dip. Ahem. Cleric. Don't want to lose caster levels.
Magic Domain. Domains are already filled with useful abilities. No ways of acquiring bonus domains are possible within build.
UMD. Not enough levels to have enough a stat-modifier to do it reliably.
Eternal wands. Work with arcane casters, not divine.
Divine Magician ACF. Already being taken, but Benign Transposition is Conjuration, not Abjuration, Divination, or Necromancy.

Does anyone have any possible solutions here?

Honestly, your best solution may be a level dip. It's less expensive in terms of feats and skill points, and Wizard would give you either Scribe Scroll or a Fighter bonus feat. Take domain wizard or specialist and get 3 spells a day (assuming a 12 INT). And since it's a "V" only spell, you can cast it in armor and without using a wand.

Take a level in a PrC that gives you an extra domain? Domain Draughts?

Planar Touchstone (Catalogues of Enlightenment) would give you the granted power of the Magic Domain. You don't even have to go there for the basic power, just know about it (which is covered by the ranks in Know: Planes). You said you had the build built, but I dunno if you have a feat in the 6-9th level range you could spend on this?

I think there's a Regional feat from FR that lets you use scrolls or wands from a caster class of your choice? Could be misremembering it though.

What resources do you have spare? If you can't use skills, levels or class features, is there anything that you are willing to play with? Feats, items... that's all I can think of for options.

Yeah, Arcane Schooling. Pick an arcane class, and you get to activate spell trigger items as if you had 1 level of that class, plus the class becomes an additional favored class for you.

Real handy if you want to play a Dwarf Dweomerkeeper/Runesmith, since neither cleric nor wizard are favored classes.

Wow, that's really handy. I'll have to make a note of that one.
