I'm building a character for a 3.5 game. I'm not allowed to play a spell-caster or anything else that fantastical. The setting of the game is kinda similar to A Game of Thrones, for what it's worth. Either way, I'm trying to build a character with an animal companion, and I was wondering if the playground knows of a way to get the animal companion earlier, ideally from level one.

You are aware that Rangers are spellcasters, yes?

There's an alt-class feature that fixes that. :smallwink:

Only classes that get Animal Companion at level 1 are Druid and Simple Variant Bard/Sorcerer/Wizard. Dunno about dragon magazine classes, though.

Yeah, the plan is to use Champion of the Wild or the spell-less ranger from CW to get rid of that.

There's a 3rd variant spells-less ranger from Complete Champion. Probably stronger than the CW version.

A reasonable house-rule would be to trade away spells for an animal companion that levels at the same rate as a druid's Animal companion.

Dang. I could have used this in Iron Chef 18. Thanks!
