In the beginning there was nothing. The world was made without hastily and without care by the primordials. But there were eight beings of great power who would change that.

Behold, lad.
Behold the furry of the sea.
Behold the savage dance of the waves.
See and never forget, for this is the Maelstrom.
The mother of all storms,
The everlasting cyclone,

You shall respect this holy sanctuary and never venture there again.
For it is the Sleeper's domain, and no mortal shall trespass.
Black clouds, thick rain and foul winds protect it from above.
And the Treacherous Reef hides below.

This is the Maelstrom, lad.
Never forget its dangers. And never venture there again.
For if there are legends which speak of the Sleeper's Island,
There are nothing but tales from mad men.
For no mortal ever survived the journey through this hell.
None that came back, that's it...
----
Anonymous sailor to a young cabin boy.
Date unknown.

For eons, It had traveled among the stars and for even longer through the void between them.
And finally, It had reached its destination. A young world, full of possibilities, where It could fulfill its purpose.

With a roaring scream, It burst through the upper atmosphere, several pieces of its crust burning and falling across the surface.

It then hits the planet itself, shaping a large crater that pushed the sea itself away.

---------

Decades, centuries maybe, passed.
And It waited, slowly awakening in the depths of the ocean.
Its large outer shell was nearly entirely submerged, with only a small tip above water.
Had there be any mortal to see it, he would easily have mistaken it for a island.

Not that the awakening god cared.
Its simple mind was entirely focused on its purpose.
With its increasing consciousness, its power rose.
And finally, It activated its prime directive.

Vapor appeared as water started to boil.
Soon, large black clouds filled the sky from where a thick rain felt, closing a cycle that kept increasing in volume and intensity.
Soon, It stood at the very center of the cyclone's eye.

A storm like the world had never seen any so far now raged continually around It.
The Maelstrom spiraled madly with a speed and strength wild enough to sink any ship and drown any creature.
Sometimes, briefly, sky and sea would connect in thin, swirling columns of salty water.
As the waves moved, they revealed sharp rocks, remnants of the crash.
They were now hidden defenders, guarding from below the border of the crater.

The Maelstrom, as it would eventually be known, surrounded the Treacherous Reef...
which itself surrounded the Island of the Sleeper...
which was in reality no other than "It" itself.

the Treacherous Reef, a series of very sharp rocks hidden below the sea around the island in H6.
The island in H6 is actually the top of "It".
As such, the island and the reef are barren, except for mosses and small vegetation.

Shape Climate : - 2
The Maelstrom, a everlasting cyclone, centered on the island in H6.
When it's not furiously raging, it is just raging.
But then, that's the moment when sea monsters get at the surface...

Turant exhaled deeply, looking up from his massive tome of lore. The Crimson Bull glared his charcoal red eyes at the new world, eying it with greed and frenzy. "Come," the bull cries to no being in particular. "Let them see my mark on this world. Let the very ground reach up and kiss the sky!"

And, lo. Lady Melisandre looked upon the world, still in its infancy.
Her robes billowing behind her, she spread her arms and bade the sea "Move."
And it did.
Then, spoke the Golden Angel of Death, "Rise."
And the land rose from the ocean. Melisandre saw this, and she was pleased.

Coming upon a newly created world, Scientia see the potential for experimentation. Seeing as it is a new world Scientia will test the evolution of a race confined to a beautiful landscape.

The goal: To see if the race will destroy its environement in favor of technological engineering.

Step one: Create a wonderful lush land.
-Archipelago: 4-6 island of varying sizes.
-Flora and fauna: varying from island to island, jungles, forests, plains and mountains, giving access to pretty much all kinds of recourses.

Being a grey cloud passing over the area that would become the archipelago, using divine powers, Scientia shift the tectonic plates deep beneath the water. Soon after, volcanos start to erupt at multiple points, slowly but surely the cooling lava form new lands where only water was.

Shape Land (3 points) in O3 (I have .... let say less than good skill at drawing, so for the one who draw it, just add some islands close to each others between 4-6 of them.

"The worlds are in alignment.........It has come to this..........I would have wished longer to prepare, but I shall persevere"

The words echoed gently around the star'y realm above the clouds, as the Star-Gazer turned his eyes downwards upon the changing earth.

"Let my Brothers play their game. For now, I need a place to contemplate"

He cast his eyes onto the great bowl of the heavens once more, seeking strands of fate and entwining them as one, merging past present and the myriad of possible futures, and with it. He exerted his power.

The skies opened above the barren ocean, and with a thunderous boom, the ocean exploded into life, as a Mountain began to push itself free. Strait and Tall, the single peak climbing higher and higher, above the clouds, an edifice from which to work his wonders.

With it came land, forming into an island around the mountains base, tree's growing gently around it, mighty Fir trees, leading into sloped fields, receding gently to the ocean. Just as the air shimmered, and snow feel gently upon the new land.

Erdin smiled, it had worked, as foreseen, and preparations would begin.
The Event may be uncounted lifetimes to the mortals he had foreseen to walk upon the new planet, but for him, and his brothers, it would be soon.

He could almost taste it.........

Ok, to sum it up.
A2 and A3 have been turned into a mind shatteringly massive mountain, and a small series of green forests and fields respectively.
A2, the Mountain, and the Fir tree covered base, had begone to snow. Nothing major, just the dusting you would expect in a winter, a few feet.

Kyranas yawned and looked down upon the world. Deserts had grown, mountains had risen, and jungles had flourished. With a playful smile, Kyranas unfurled great silver wings and descended upon the world. He spent what felt like an endless time exploring every nook and hidden place.

Wherever he went, new creatures came to life- crawling from beneath the rock or foliage.

Finally, Kyranas found the great mountain, which dwarfed even his current form. For days, the God climbed up the mountain, carving great chunks out of mountain. Finally Kyranas reached the peak, and on a whim, dug a cave into the side of the mountain, with a sun facing entrance.

Inside, Kyranas curled up to sleep again. The next morning Kyranas awoke to the warmth of the sun. The celestial body felt so good, Kyranas began to hum. What the world had been missing was an intelligent being. Kyranas delighted in the birth of new creatures- but they had all seemed flat... souless.

With a sudden burst of information, Kyranas jumped from the cave and took flight. He gathered shimmering water from the pools, teeth from one of the living creatures that moved beneath him, sand from the desert, and flowering plants from the Jungle. Kyrnas took these ingredients and flew them up to the cave that he had dug, and combined them in a shallow bowl directly in the rays of the sun.

Three days of heating, mixing, and cooling pass- and what arises is a large, radiant golden draconic form. He looked up and awaited his masters voice.

Kyranas spoke "Welcome to the world Calexin, son of Kyranas. You are the first of the Drakanis. It is your duty to channel my will, and create more in my image."

With that, Kyranas left the newly born avatar, who had a divine memory and knowledge of how to speak the languege of the gods- and how to create more of his race.

Kyranas knew he had left his child with everything he needed. Calexin, the Sun Born, has entered the world. Soon, his fellow Drakanis filled the the mountain skies...

We truly live in a land of honey and milk.

From the soil, a thousand marvels rise each spring.
Green pastures stretch as far as the eyes can see.
The peaceful monotony of the hills is only broken by the serpentine flow of the rivers, along which fishermen and herders gather.

Some might say it is sometime too cold or too rainy, though.
They easily forget that, to the North, on the other side of the mountains,
The barbarians are killing each other over a pinch of water

While we simply stay inside during the three moons of the Winter,
They suffocate the whole year under the sun.
We truly live in a land of honey and milk...

----
Mateos, philosopher,
1058th moon of the Shagak Dynasty

This world was not as empty as "It" had first thought.
From its underwater sanctuary, shielded by the Maelstrom, "It" could feel the overwhelming forces that were manipulated.

Their true nature and the ones of the beings behind them still remained clouded.
But "It" could feel the growing influence of one of them, hiding in the North.
Her power had swept swiftly through the lands, scorching them under a fiery light that killed most life and forced the rest underground.
The desert progressed toward the South, threatening one of the potential sites "It" was considering for colonization by the First Race.

Actions were needed.

---------

Had they even existed, mortals would have noticed nothing.
Their lifespan was short, their memory feeble and their perception limited.
But for gods, for whose a century was but a moment, the following events were lived as a short but epic battle.

The legions of sand and dust crept toward the South at an alarming speed, devouring several meters with each passing solar revolution.
Soon (a mere five centuries), they would have complete dominion over the featureless lands, having taken by surprise all gods, safe their mistress.
But from the Southern Seas, an opposing force marched. It moved with the might of a billions of tiny earthquakes, making the earth twist, crack and rise.
Small hills started to appear along the coastline and more appeared further inland.
Then, as the rag-tag bunch of geological misfits gathered, they formed the invincible wall of stone and ice.
A phalanx against which the erosive hordes of the North crashed, pushed forward by the lashes of the howling winds.
For three full centuries, the battle raged, sandstorms and solar eruptions trying to bore a breach into the defenses.
Yet, in the end, they had failed... for now.

"It" approved silently as the new mountain range stood victorious, as it would for many more eons.
From below the rocks, springs appeared, flowing down the slopes and forming rivers that watered the plains of the South-East.
Soon (200 years ?), carried by the winds, seeds took ground and forests started to grew at the basis of the mountains.
All of this, boosted by the divine influence of "It", eventually formed a land that would bear many names... but let's call it the Green Hills for now.

Kyranas had returned to what his children now called Mak'Cail (or Mountain of the Sun). What he saw filled the Dragon God with pride. The skies were full with flights of dragons who all deferred to Calixen.

The Monumental silver form of Kyranas landed before Calixen "My son, you have done so very well" The God smiled "I noticed that your children are every color of the world"

Calixen bowed his golden head "Yes Lord, I have used the different minerals of the earth and land... the variety pleased me"

Kyranas laughed, voice slipping between faintly masculine and faintly feminine "Of course it does, yours is the blood of change and variety. Where do you live?"

"We live within the mountain, lord, carved by our talons."

Kyranas, still smiling, leaned forwards and whispered in Cailixen's ear. The golden dragon listened for a moment, and then nodded slowly. Kyranas soon turned to leave, flyig of towards where he knew a volcano rumbled.

Calixen spoke to his fellow Drakan. "The Progenitor has spoken. We must establish a permanent home, a place where Drakon kind can always find shelter, and escape from the uncertain world."

The Drakon began to dig into the mountain, using their claws, and created a very intricate passageways, clan homes, meeting halls, temples to Kyranas. After the rough stone was set, the Drakon used their fiery breath to melt the stone, and then used their tongues, tails, and claws to create ornate patterns directly into the stone. It took a very long time to create, but when the last fires finally cooled, the city of Drakholme had been founded.

Kyranas had long ago left to different areas. He found himself staring at gigantic volcano- made by his brother out of pride and spite. The land around the volcano was richly fertile from the eruption, but it was still dead- only a few fire resistent weeds and scrubs lived.

Kyranas plucked a scale from his side, and took a scoop of soil with a seedling from the jungle he had saved. He planted it in the ground. As he watched over the years, shielding the seedling from the constant small lava flows.

What grew appeared to be a jungle tree, made from crystal. The trunk was solid whitish in color, while the many leaves and orchids were rainbow hued. Before Kyranas knew it, the fertile area around the volcano was covered in the trees. Each and every one was resistent to the fire and heat from the mountain, and soon new creatures came to live in the forest.

Kyranas jumped up, leaving the forest with pride.

Sending away those that were not meant to evolve. Scientia resumed the channeling while keeping a mental note of 2 things:

The World kept changing and "It" gave more than its share of help into the work.

"It" witnessed the quarrel between two of the fledging gods, as they were trying to shape some kind of sanctuary for themselves or their children.
"It" was content with its stormy patch of sea.
Wasting its time and energy on covering mountains with iron was below "It".
But this didn't prevent the Sleeper to imprint the rest of the world with its mark.

And so were born the snowy mountains of the Lizard Spine.
A name it would get from numerous mortal races in the future.
Except the Dragons.
That ancient species was old enoughto have witness the infancy of most mountains and even the birth of some.
As such, they merely called it "the Fourth Range"... simply because it was indeed the fourth group of mountains created by the gods.

On the western slopes of the Lizard Spine, the wet air from the south pushed clouds which poured rains regulary, feeding numerous streams and rivers.
The abundance of water and the divine blessing of "It" favored the land, where healthy trees grew.
Names would vary for this place of plenty. But let's call it the Emerald Woods for now.

At its most southern edge, the Emerald Woods would eventually meet the Crystal Forest and merge with it.
The result was an enchanting place, where trees seem to slowly mutate from bark into mineral and from pure glassy marvel into lush green plants.

The eastern slopes, while not devoid of water, were less fortunate. They become dry steppes, where nothing but the hardiest grass would grow.

Had "It" have a mouth, "It" would have smiled.
The work of those entities was maybe not going exactly how "It" would want it but they still were shaping the world.
A tedious task that, somewhere into its simplistic mind, "It" feared to have to do on its own for dozen of thousands of solar cycles.

Muddy jungles, high peaks, fiery volcanoes, endless fertile plains, lush forests and even a few marvels and curiosities, like those crystal trees...
The world was vast but far from empty.

Though it wasn't full either and would still need many more cycles to be so.
This didn't prevent some gods to set upon their own worshippers.
"It" had no need for worshippers. Its creators had engineered "It" specifically to that "It" would just be a caretaker, with no ambition of its own.
Yet, there were tasks that a god could simply not do through the slow, gentle application of his influence over several centuries.
Worshippers might come handy for this specific purpose.

------------

Ardanavit'su flew past a pack of cloud, enjoying the misty air as it entered his lungs, refreshing and moistering his breath.
He then dived down, letting himself be grizzled by the speed of his own fall as, below, land neared at an alarming rate.
Last moment, he turned left and went up again, only to fly a few dozen miles near the ground before landing in clearing, not far away from the 4th Range.

His talons met the thick skin of a boar.
Wheither the poor beast died from its wounds or from an hearth attack was irrelevant to Ardanavit'su who, like any young dragon, enjoyed the hunt.
The rest of the boars scattered through the woods as the Lord of the Forest roared victorious before feasting on the flesh.

"-Ardaaaa !! Stop playing around and come back !! It's nearly dark !!"

The "Lord of the Forest" sneered at the call, looking down at his prey.

Barely 35 years old, Ardanavit'su was, by draconic standard, not even a adolescent.
He was already a sharp mind, though, along with a talented hunter and an explorer of some kind, thanks to his bondless curiosity.
A trait he would have let express more freely...
"-...if it wasn't for my smother... I mean mother !"

Taking one last bit at the boar's carcass, Ardanavit'su was about to take off when something caught his eye in the shadow of the nearby woods.

"-Shiny Shiny !!"

Dragons might have been the wisest and smartest of all creatures on this world, they still had powerful instinct.
Hoarding shiny or colorful stones was one of such instinct.
An urge that grew as the dragons got older, with a peak during their early adulthood, as a large hoard of rare minerals was a mating criteria.

Ardanavit'su was not yet bothered by those concerns.
Yet, the urge was there...

In the shade of the trees, left alone on the grass, it waited for him.
A perfect, naturally polished ruby, roughly the size of rat.
As the dragon raise it at the sun's light, the inner fire of his finding was revealed to him.

"-Mine !!"

"-Ardaaaa !!"
The call was more pressing.
Ardanavit'su packed the jewel and took off. Somehow, he found it even more easy to flight through the endless sky, as if his very soul was lighter.
Maybe it was just the joy of having found his first trinket ?
He could already see how that would be the masterpiece of his future hoard !!

'sounded like a good idea, back then.
But anything does when you're only 150...
----
Ardanavit'su The Great Wyrm,
about the First Divine Gathering

"Hear me gods of this realm, I wish us to gather and discuss for I have a request. Come to the highest peak of this yet unnamed world and let us share words."

Inside its massive shell, "It" pondered the idea for a moment... then decided against it.
Like "It" would move from the bottom of the seas...
Of course, "It" certainly could move.
But the sight of a flying giant coconut might drive even the wisest drakanis mad.

Also, "It" didn't want to go.
What kind of self-respecting omnipotent entity would let itself be merely summoned by a stranger to hear his request ?
If the little runt wanted to make a plea, he could always come to "It"... and introduce himself before asking from others.

-----------

"Hear me gods of this realm, I wish us to gather and discuss for I have a request. Come to the highest peak of this yet unnamed world and let us share words."

Then there was a dead silence in the cavern for about 5 seconds.
Ardanavit'su shake his head as to wear of the effect.

"-Dude, that stuff is... awesome !!"
"-Yeah, I know. Best crystal tree dust you can get on this side of the mountain. 'got it from my uncle."
"-Gotta go easy on it, though. That's the kind of stuff that could, like, totally blow up your mind."

At 150 years, Ardanavit'su was now nearing adulthood.
And like many youngster between two ages, he made a lot of experiences, hanged a lot with friends of the same age and behaved like an idiot.

Ssri'lkatarogonus (let's call it Ssri'lka, for short) took a new blow of the crystal tree dust, enjoying the numbing feeling that ran from the tip of his tail, all along his body.

"-Naaan !! It's safe, trust me. Lotto practice..."
"-Yeah, I don't know about that. I'm hearing voices and those aren't Sluganad's piercing shrieks"
"-I'm not shrieking !!!!
Dad said it was normal to go through that phase. Ya know... because of the sulfure. It changes your roar."
"-Whatever... Voices, hu ? You're f----- reactive to this s--- !! What are they saying ?"

Ardanavit'su proceed to repeat, in a very drunkish way, the words of the "Crystal Tree Dust Allucination".
And that's how three juvenile dragons embarked on a glorious journey across the seas and lands.

And that's why, instead of a colossal divine coconut,
it was Ardanavit'su and his friends who showed up at the First Divine Gathering...

Kyranas heard his fellow gods. He knew what they said. He did not care currently. His children, born of the sky and sun, were shattered. Roughly a quarter of their entire race had been inside the mountains. Cailixen had ordered his children to scatter around the world to escape any more wrath from the gods, but still a broken or stubborn few lingered on the external balconies and landings that once led into Drakholme.

The voices of the Drakon still inside the dark filled Kyranas's mind with pleading, distraught voices. Each and everyone praying to their god to save them. Kyranas knew that he could not.

Instead, he flew to the mountain and placed both claws against its iron sides, and focused his life giving energy into the very bowels of the mountains. Knew, subterranian life grew, enough to eat and live and evolve. Then he focused on his lost children, and changed their shape. No longer would they be the lords of the sky, but he formed them the best he could for life below the earth. Darker scales, better darkvision, sleeker forms.

With great sadness, Kyranas left vowing that the lost ones would never be forgotten by any god. They would thrive, and eventually dig around the iron, and make it to the surface.

Glowering, he finally made his way to where the meeting was about to take place.

From the deep, new tremors arouse as "It" shaped the lands to suit his needs.

Breaking the very crust of the planet, floods of lava poured from the ocean's bottom, pilling up as the cold water solidified it after each burst of furor.
Along the crack, a large barrier of basalt and obsidian soon emerged from the waves, growing fast as its summits raged with fire and smoke.

While the destruction rage in the north, the tremors echoed to the south, where they caused the ground to rise again, albeit more gently.
Soon, an island appeared, becoming home of thousands of birds, sea animals and plants.
It expended its coasts until they met the charred lands of volcanic rocks.

-------

Ardanavit'su could not believe it.
He had met the gods and survived to tell the tale.
Of his whole species, none but the Revered Elder Calexin, First Born of Kyranas and Father of all Drakanis, had ever met a true divine being.

The memory of this meeting, as brief and scary as it was, would haunt the young dragon for two full decades, filling him with a religious fervor.

However, as the rest of his kind didn't share his enthousiasm and Kyranas remained silent to his prayers, the young dragon's faith died slowly.

Especially since he had witnessed how close the gods actually were from mortals in behaviours and manners.
One could only wonder if there was really more than time and experience to differenciate mortals from gods.
A hunch that grew stronger in young Ardanavit'su as he aged and discovered the many powers of his race.

Eventually, Ardanavit'su would come to see even Kyranas as nothing but a mighty wyrm.
He would still rever the changing god as a ancestor.
But Kyranas didn't inspire him the same awe as most of his race seemed to share for the god.

Of course, most of this was caused by the subtle influence of the Jewel.

The first trinket of Ardanavit'su was never trully forgotten by the dragon, even after he had packed a cave full with his "treasures" :
shiny rocks of odd forms, crystal trunks artistically twisted, rare minerals collected near volcanoes, bones of creatures long gone...
And during the next 300 years, the trinket bestowed increasingly great powers to Ardanavit'su, helping the dragon to rise above his pears.

And now, as Ardanavit'su was a full adult, respected for his strength as much as for his wisdom and divine charisma, the Jewel felt it was time to act.

--------

2.000 years A.B.C. (After the birth of Calexin)
In the depths of the crystal forest, a group of a dozen or so dragons started to make a name for itself.
They were led by a respected dragon by the name of Ardanavit'su, who preached that gods were unworthy of worship.

He said that each creature, mortal or not, had a part of divine in itself. Therefor, it was as worthy of worship as any so-called gods.
Dragons, being individually so much more powerful, intelligent and long-lived than any other mortal creatures, were currently the closer to actual godhood.
But if a dragon was to reach this state of immortal omnipotence, they would have to somehow find the way by themselves.
It would be a spiritual one, mostly. A quest for knowledge, power and virtue that would likely not see completion for most dragons but was worth attempting.
After all, immortality, omniscience and omnipotence were goals that were easily worth to dedicate a mortal existence.

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/2710/brotherhoodoftheclaw.jpg

The Brotherhood of the Claw would, for the times to come, be a major force of change and progress across the world.
It was to be a loosely banded group of fiercely independent beings, mostly dragons, seeking perfection of being.
While not raging against the Heavens (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RageAgainstTheHeavens), they would oppose some of the minor schemes of gods and clerics.
Especially when they think it stands against the best interest of the Drakanis race or against their own, individual path to godhood.

Frustrated with Scientia Theraga sought to make cure the darkness her own way. She thought hard for several hundred years until gazing upon her pool of glowing tears she had an idea.

She pulled all of the water from the earth where the pool had formed and fashioned the water into a magnificent orb, spinning round and round till she came to have a giant glowing sphere made of the glowing water. She took sand from her desert and mixed it with the water and heated it until the sand and water fused to form a new giant lamp, as large as a mountain.

But Theraga was fearful of Scientia's opposition so she fashioned two guards to protect her lamp. One was in the form of a pale, beautiful woman with long red hair, pointy ears and leathery wings. Her name was Armania and she was tasked with protecting the sky around the lamp and letting only the most holy and pious touch the lamp. The other was in the form of a strong woman no taller than a child, covered in a tough earthy skin she was named Tarmett. Tarmett was charged with guarding the lamp from those who come to it by earth.

With that Theraga was satisfied and smiled upon the lamp as it's light streched all across she could see. "It is done" she said.

The faithful clerics recieved power, and if the god heard a prayer he would listen- but only if it interested him.

What Kyranas did notice was that Ardanavit'su was outside Drakonis nature- a anomaly. It was interesting.

Kyranas would have to know more.

The creation of the brotherhood meant nothing more to Kyranas then the formation of a new clan- change certainly but was change a bad thing? Plenty of his children still knew who they worshipped.

--------------------------------------------------------

Theraga's creation cast light upon his creation, the light caused them to develop a spiritual side making them seek to enlighten themself. This lead them to discover the manipulation of soul energy and ways to harness it further through technologies. One of their major creation so far was the lapis vitae (life stone), this necklace extended their lifespan up to 500 years and rendered them highly resistant to deceases.

Having the Alterans devellop soul based technology was the result that Scientia was looking for, it meant that they will not favor technology over nature, but the result could be wrong, Theraga's light made them devellop that spiritual side. And soon the world would be crawling with races so beginning the experiment anew would be impossible.

A new project would be needed. And so Scientia left his/her failed experiment and wandered again the world until he/she found an island east of Theraga's desert.
