Races

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first of Halna's Homebrew Compendium's (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187561) Nomination thread! This week, we'll be doing Races, the building blocks of characters. This is not a homebrew contest in the traditional sense- races aren't being made for this thread, rather races from other homebrews-whether they be individual or inside of other projects- and then, the Playground votes! In one week from now, on Sunday, Februrary 27th, at 3pm EST (GMT-5), this thread closes and the voting thread opens.

The rules for the Voting thread are different than from this thread. The rules of this thread are as follows:

Each person may nominate up to three(3) homebrews. I don't want the same person spamming 300 homebrews.
After each homebrew is nominated, it automatically gets into the Voting thread.
Think carefully about your choice of homebrews! This week's theme is simple, but other weeks may not be. Make sure it fits into the theme of the week!
There are two kinds of awards given out at HHC- "Best Homebrew of the Week" award, which is awarded to first, second, and third place winners, and is given out to the 'brews with the most votes. The other award is the "Judge's Panel Pick" which is given out to the most balanced and playable of the homebrews.
A homebrew may come from any source. However, if the homebrew is within another contest or larger project, please link the post and specify what you are nominating.
A homebrew that has already won a different contest shouldn't be nominated here. I'm reluctant to ban it outright, though I may in the future.

Any other rules are in here:

Withdrawing a nomination
If you wish to withdraw a nomination, then please delete your post and make a new post stating that you withdrew your nomination.

Some additional stuff

As it is, right now, I don't actually have a Judge's Panel. If someone could make banners or somesuch, that would be awesome. And, there's other artsy stuff I need, so if you have any ideas, please PM me.

Though it's my own work, I'd like to nominate The Patupaiarehe (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8739613&postcount=75) that I created for NakedCelt. I don't know if many people actually saw them and they've gotten me interested in Maori folklore if nothing else.

Further, I'd like to see the impossible icky Gloi (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115814) by The Vorpal Tribble get a bit more love; he didn't even include them in his own campaign setting, despite them being so bizarre and interesting culture wise.

Glöi (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6344313&postcount=1), by The Vorpal Tribble (although this was already mentioned by Mulletman)
Golmoids (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10362197&postcount=1), by me. (/commercializing)

I have but one thing i'd like to nominate, which is mine;

The Carcharodons (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10060375#post10060375) (I enjoyed homebrewing this)

EDIT: Found another one! I'd like to also nominate the excellent Farbred (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174544) race.

No more? Aww.. won't be a lot of competition for the Voting thread.

My own creation, the Children of Fharlanghn (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=177311). I don't expect it to have much of a chance in the same competition as some of the great brewers, but I thought I'd throw it in anyway to see just how much it loses by.

Also, what constitutes "winning a competition"? In this homebrew competition (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9378269#post9378269), there were several different titles received - "Playground Favorite," "Most Fun," and "Wish I'd Thought of That". I'm interested in nominating a race or two from that competition, but the ones that caught my eye both won titles. Does every creation that won a title get disqualified from being nominated in this thread?

Well, I don't think this is a great surprise given that PrCs is really where it's at. Followed by feat chains and then spells. I haven't seen a homebrew race in ages...

Yeah, true. Very true. Well, still, it can be from any time, so there can still be stuff.

I've seen three races made in the past month (and there's another on page one right now). But I see your point, seeing how three of those four are mine.

Do 1 HD monsters with "____ As Characters" sections count? If so, that opens up a couple more options.

Yeah, those would definitely be allowed.

I've got a few buried ones that could use some polishing, but they're complete.

That won a title in a homebrew competition, and I'm not sure if that disqualifies it or not (the OP says no nominating contest winners). Still waiting for a reply...

Hint, hint.

Yeah. If they get a title in another contest, they can't be nominated here.

Well, a homebrew race compendium just isn't complete without at least mentioning the Oaves (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37855). They are very, very, very complete. Love 'em or hate 'em, you can't say that I wasn't thorough.
