...I was so sure I would be voting for 606 at the last poll. But... The question "What are you" used to ring in my head whenever I heard it, and for good reason. It might not be because of this strip alone, or even oots alone, but that question can be life changing.

610!

My favorite is 606.

This is even tougher than the last one. 610 is hugely important plot-wise, but 607 is hilarious. Hmm. I'll go with 607.

606 even though 610 is a very tempting choice as well. but 606 feels cool in I can relate the way he speaks about "society" so much to the real world even if that wasn't his full intention.

610, just 610. That was a batch of awesome strips, but Roy's true (albeit slightly self centered) speech to Celia, Celia's acceptance of her inability to help, Haley's fall to Crystal... And then, when the entire party, across two continents has hit it's lowest... the return of Belkar, to bring together the party in the first move in a chain reaction. I love this strip, as it showed the point when the party as a whole was at it's worst (Elan, Durkon, and V's descent had already been shown), and then the first move that brought them back together.

In a close one over 610, I'm going with 606. The background pushes it over the top.

Almost seems unnecessary, but 610, for all the reasons listed above and more. That said, 606 is also a masterpiece of a strip.

Crap, I *KNEW* the most likely time for the Sticks Awards to come back was late February, but I was just too caught up with school work and another project to have time to return to the site. I do agree with Nazzo in the other thread that the long hiatus is more than enough to start the Seventh Hundred - in fact, we're so far into the following hundred there's an off chance we can press on into that later. (We kinda did need a "half-time"...)

First round went pretty much as I expected with 602 pulling away, though it took until the second page for it to do so from 605 and the really surprising 604. This round was more interesting. Though I felt 607 was a dark horse for Crystal's hilarious stupidity (as opposed to Celia's maddening stupidity) and 609 was likely to at least finish third or fourth for plot importance (namely, Bozzok's letter), this was the round of Belkar, destined to come down to 606 - Shojo's advice and the start of Belkar's fake character growth that has underpinned his character ever since - and the well-put-together 610 (favorite of the museum crowd) for the namedrop of Belkar's nickname, the plot-important removal of the Mark of Justice and, as I've come to find out, the set-up for the awesomeness to follow. If 606 had come one strip earlier, both strips would have dominated their respective voting rounds (unless 611 had also come one strip earlier); as it stands I expected a tight race.

I can't say I'm too surprised to see 610 blow the competition out of the water... but I am surprised to see 606 come down pretty close to the wire to take second from 607. I guess 610 took too many of 606's voters. And I'm VERY surprised to see 609 not receive a single vote. I know Bozzok's letter isn't much in this group, but the flashback and "Die, Whore, Die!" aren't much more.

Other recent strips have received as many votes, but 610 just got a larger percentage of the votes than any strip in the first round since 464. I had thought there was one strip and one strip only that could win the quarter, which was also the only strip that could challenge the Uber-V strips for the hundred. (Hint: It's in the next round.) 610 may give its sister strip an unexpected challenge.

Since the next round has even less suspense than this one, keep an eye on whether the even-numbered strips can muster a single vote. 612 might get one or two, though it won't even be able to compete with 613 and 615, good strips that could at least compete for any other group of five. 614, a strip that inflames anti-Celia passions without the humor and importance Haley's new bow brings to 615? I'd honestly be shocked.

EDIT: Okay, 611 is actually having some trouble in the early voting. That does NOT bode well for its chances of avoiding an upset in the quarter (which I still think it'll make).
