Today is my 18th birthday, and I have absolutely no plans. I am entrusting the playground to come up with something to do for my 18th birthday.:smalltongue:

A little bit of info.
1. I'm in Indiana, so I can't drink until I'm 21.
2. Lets stay within board rules.

The only suggestion that I have would be to drink Mountain Dew (or some other form of non-alcoholic beverage) until you pass out, but my advice is never to be taken seriously. Maybe go and see Avatar: The Last Airbender movie =p?

Happy birthday.

As for advice... um... I'm trying to remember what I did on my 18th birthday...

Do something other than sit inside and watch TV. If possible hang out with friends.

Edit: Or if you really want to watch TV, marathon your favorite movies and while drinking a milkshake.

Drive to Canada with a few 18+ years old friends, rent a motel room, and get hammered? Note: Ontario is 19+ for alcohol, Quebec is 18, as are most of the other provinces, but you should check before going there, obviously.

-nevermind. May I then suggest-

June 1st was on a weekday last year, I think. That means I went to school. Let's see...I thanked my then-girlfriend for listening. Whoo!

I think it was a Monday, actually, so that means I probably got to school at 8:18 or 8:19 (with class starting at 8:20).

Happy birthday. :smallcool:

Happy Birthday!

Hmm... I don't really do much on my birthdays, and I'm not 18 yet so I'm unaware of there being any sort of thing people might do on their 18th.

But may I suggest an impromptu picnic with your friends? Just quickly buy some random food and drink (like Cake!), and invite whoever friends are available to have lunch with at the most scenic place in town.

It will be lethal but is it illegal?

okay, I'm not doing this, but nice circumventing that rule. I think my parents would be furious if they found out I went to Canada to get drunk.

Nah, you didn't go there to get drunk, you went for "insert relevant cultural thing" and to have a good time with your friends, and also happened to get drunk. Tough be aware, a bunch of young adults who've never drank on their first bender can get pretty bad, especially in a foreign city.

Well, if you're desiring of some sort of intoxication, I believe synthetic cannabis/"spice" is legal in Indiana (at least according to wikipedia, "legislation pending", but don't quote me on it), so if you live in a more populated area you should be able to find some at your local tobacco store or general hippie place.
Otherwise, I donno, try smoking tobacco. I'd recommend getting something decent and additive free. I happen to like it once in a while.
Otherwise, as there are no elections coming up, not much you can do with your newfound 18 year old status other than going to real-jail, so just treat it as you have any other birthday. Maybe go a little more wild than usual, I suppose.

Wanna know what I did to celebrate my 18th, despite it being a school day?

I made a cake. And then I brought that three-layer quintuple-chocolate cake to school with me. And when lunchtime came, I just took a fork, and tore into the side of it, along with everyone else at my table. Four people, and the cake was gone in 45 minutes. It was delicious.

Watch an R rated movie. Although I was watching R rated movies with my parents when I was five, so if you're anything like my family, it wouldn't be anything special to you. But hey, congratulations! This is how I celebrated my eighteenth:

Step 1: Go out and buy one of those portable gasoline containers.
Step 2: Buy yourself a nice big cheroot and a lighter. You're legal now, after all.
Step 3: Fill the container with water.
Step 4: Poke a hole in the container using a needle.
Step 5: Walk down your hometown's busiest district, carrying the lit cigar in one hand and the container in the other. Tap out any ash over the container. Actually smoking the thing is optional. Count the double takes you get.
Step 6: Recommended: Never smoke again.

Oh, yes. And happy birthday.

Go target shooting or get a group to go target shooting.
Check wikipedia or a more recently updated place where state laws are shown if you need (or are able) to get a handgun or weapon's permit before though.

Maybe buy a pack of smokes for a friend who's into such things, even if they pay? I know even though I could buy cigarettes on my own, I was always glad to let younger kids go in and do it for me, when they were old enough, just so they could participate in their adult right to do so. Although, it may be less satisfying for the purchaser than the passive purchasee, I was the older kid, so I never knew.

I actually didnt do anything special on my 18th. I already had my license, I couldnt legally drink till I was 21, so no bar hopping. About the only thing I COULD do at 18, that I couldnt do at 16-17, was legally buy pornography, which doesnt make for much of a party really. You know, hitting 18 is such a GIP! You can get booted out of your parents house, but you cant buy yourself a drink to forget your troubles. Totally unfair. Oh wait, you can go join the military. So I can sign the next 4-6 years of my life away, and go off to fight and die in some gods forsaken land, but I cant get a beer. Still not much of a celebratory bonus for hitting 18. (Even if I DID join the military then lol)

My 18th birthday was rather... uninteresting. I had a sleepover with friends (cuz sleepovers never get old. Also: they lived all over a large, crowded city, so a late night party demands this). I suggest finding some friends and have a really fun party together, doing whatever you like to do best. Movies, video games, board games, eating food, roleplaying, all of that is great stuff.

If you consider that uninteresting, my 18th birthday would have felt to you like having spontaneously turned into a rock. Over the course of the three-hundred and sixty-four days since then, I've forgot any details, but from what I remember, I went on my computer, had a quiet meal at Macaroni Grill, collected money from various relatives, went home, and repeated step one. The most variation I expect for my 19th birthday would be to change restaurants, but I haven't decided that part yet.

My 18th Birthday we're going to Montreal.

Wait, everyone's going to Montreal on their 18th...
Basically, I'm spending every day I'm not in school that year in Montreal. Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer Break, all in Montreal. :smallamused:

Fort Wayne's a little far for me at the moment, I'm down to 3 gallons in my car. D:

Maybe sometime.

Road trip to Austin? Or even Dallas is closer to you, as far as I know and there's supposedly something to do in dallas. Also drugs. :smalltongue:

Drive to Canada with a few 18+ years old friends, rent a motel room, and get hammered? Note: Ontario is 19+ for alcohol, Quebec is 18, as are most of the other provinces, but you should check before going there, obviously.

I don't think you give very good advice...
