[3.5] LA Buyoff Question

Alright, so suppose I start off with an inherited template with LA+1 and buy it off as soon as possible. If I then acquire a second template with LA+1, when can I buy it off?

There doesn't seem to be a consensus. I heard at least two different opinions the last time I asked about this sort of thing. The first is that you can't since you're no longer 3rd level and that's when you have to buy off +1 LA.

The other is that you have to wait until 9th level like you were a character with +2 LA the entire time.

I'm AFB right now, but I'd suppose three class levels after you got the +1 template? Either that or never.

I'd run it as '3 levels after blah blah blah' just like normal.

I like fair. Buy it off as if you had LA +2.

Yeah...if you get to buy it off at 6 it feels like you're trying to game the LA buyoff system pretty hardcore. It would seem especially bad if you had a +2 LA friend who wasn't allowed to buyoff his 2nd level until 9.
