Inspired by this (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=188835#post10451617)thread,

WHat happens when an amphibious creature tries to live in a desert/arid enviornment? How can they manage? I thought there was something in sandstorm about such places being epsecially bad for aquatic creatures, amphibious or not.

I know that few amphibians can survive in deserts IRL (outside oasises,) those few have to hibernate during dry periods, underground, encased in thick mucus or with other protection.

Unless the stat block of the monster says otherwise, or I'm missing a passage in sandstorm, the only problem would be creatures which need to rehydrate from time to time. This is mostly solved with the level 0 spell Create Water.

In previous editions, I remember a rule that amphibious creatures require either 1.5x or 2x the daily water ration when in arid environments. I can't find it now.
