So, I have been in love with the original humorous (no booing please) Castle Greyhawk module. It just seems like a blast.

However, having missed the golden years of D&D I do not know how to transfer the info. Where/how should I even begin?

Maybe the old conversion booklet? Hard to say, the best thing to do is probably to just swap out the monsters direct from the monster manual and make up the difficulty ratings for various tasks. NPCs are going to be harder to convert and the challenge ratings unpredictable.

Don't try to do hard conversions, imo. Stick to the story and flavor of the module, but simple rebuild the encounters by hand, as appropriate for the expected CR you want. In most cases, adding a few class levels and feats to a particular creature isn't THAT difficult.

Well, you could just run Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20070812a).

I own both modules, and recently played through EttRoG - while some small sections are similar, it's a vastly different module. Great fun, though, and I would recommend it is a great dungeon crawl.

I had a quick look over at http://www.enworld.org/forum/conversions/ but no luck finding a Castle Greyhawk conversion.

Have you considered running it with ad&d for the true experience? Otherwise as others have said it seems to make the most sense to keep the story/fluff and swap out monster stats/adjust difficulty.

I would probably use the conversion sheet for monsters and then make the NPCs yourself, as the classes don't convert very well. Especially if they have dual class progression; you could always Gestalt those and then drop them a few levels I guess.

I'm not sure you missed the golden years. With the internet, us old-schoolers are connecting all over the place and having a blast playing the older editions and clones of them. 1E/Classic lives again! If you go to RPGNow and click by rules systems and click on older editions, you'll see a lot of material that has come out in the last 5 years.

I'm off to my Rules Cyclopedia game in a couple hours!

Thanks for the advice folks. I think I understood.

I ran the first session, as slow as it was, by just using the mechanics as is and switching out the monsters for their 3.5 counterparts. I do not think the players enjoyed it, though.

Improving the NPCs was a bit tough.

I wish I could find such a group around here. :(

I own several 1st edition books, so I would play it, but ugh, its a cranky looking system.
