View Full Version : Spell compendium sources?

I'm making a character for an online arena game. It's at ECL 14, and I've decided to go with a wildshape focused druid. I've taken Aberrant wildshape, and the plan is to turn into the most nightmarish things I can think of (such as using master air, Bite of the werebear, charge of the triceratops and wildshape to become a giant flying hairy octopus with claws, horns and a 12 attack pounce). But that's beside the point.

The problem is, I chose a bunch of my spells from the spell compendium, only to realize it's not one of the allowed books. So now I'm trying to track down my favorite spells to thier original sources. I'm pretty slow at making characters, and this would take me a while.

Does anyone know where the following spells come from?

Bite of the Werebear
Chasing perfection
Owl's insight
Anticold sphere
Superior magic fang
Enhance wild shape
Blindsight
Spiritjaws
Charge of the triceratops
Blinding spittle
Master air
Nature's favor
Babau slime
Cloud wings

Of course, I'd also appreciate any advice on other good spells, especially overpowered ones nerfed by the spell compendium (I like irony). Here's the list of allowed books

http://spelldb.com/ helped me find a few of these

A few were unlisted, but quite a few seem to be from Magic of Faerun and other 3e books.

Anticold Sphere is from Frostburn
Owl's Insight - Magic of Faerun
Superior magic fang - Draconomicon
Blindsight - Magic of Faerun
Blinding spittle - Magic of Faerun
Master air - Magic of Faerun
Nature's favor - Complete Divine
Babau slime - Planar Handbook
Cloud wings - Savage Species

Your DM sounds pretty annoying. The Spell Compendium is a great resource because it pulled spells from all sorts of other books, rebalanced said spells, and put them in one single book. Trying to deal with 12 different books for spells in their unbalanced iteratives is just plain annoying.

*edit*

the Bite of the Were____ line seem to come from a series of spells that were issued out online. Bite of the Werebear (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/sb/sb20020608a) link.

Chasing Percetion - Player's Handbook II
Charge of the Triceratops - Dragon Magazine Issue 318 pg 71

Still looking for the Enhance Wild Shape and Spiritjaws spells
