I need help and im running really short of time on this. :smallfrown:


I wanna make a Sniper Rifle (long range, hard damage) and a Machine Gun (short range, many shots) flavor weapons (could be a crossbow or magic item of any type) (i can afford 1 or 2 feats for the matter)

Here is the deal:
- D&D 3.5, All books avalible.
-Im using a 15th lvl artificer for this. This means all item creation feats at your disposition.
-Avalible money for each weapon 200.000gp

Relax it usually takes a day. And careful using the word "porn" the wrong way might get you banned :smalltongue:.

Sniper rifle tech doesn't seem too hard. The main obstacle is precision which you handle with magic. For example magically guide a crossbow bolt to follow a beam of light projected from the crossbow, or have a standard metal gun rifle (twisted inside for football spiral) barrel with a telescope tied to it and then true-strike-ish magic to straighten out the bullet path and increase its range increment. The scope itself could use mundane tiny gear & crank adjustments to line it up. I think there's also a spell sniper's shot that you could adapt from the spell compendium.

Machine gun tech could be done with existing loading enchantments or magical infinite repeating crossbow clips. More rapid fire might use a revolver or gattling mechanism that magically ignites the powder. You'd have to reload after a full spin with new powder, bullets, etc. Or swap in a new preloaded barrel perhaps.

There is the Splitting enhancement (MIC if I'm not mistaken, Champions of Ruin is the other one I recall it might be in) for the machine gun.

Basic Process: Heavy Crossbow/Light Crossbow - Instantaneous-Self-reloading enhancement - Splitting - Speed: 10 attacks/6 sec is 100 bolts/minute. Still a bit low, but other people should have ways of increasing the number of shots/minute.

o.o How do you get at 10 attacks in 1 round? even with splitting at an Artificer BaB you have 6 attacks at best.

I think the DMG gives some stats for renaissance, modern and even future era weapons. That, and you could always use the stats for modern guns from the d20 modern system (which is basically DnD in modern times).

For the sniper rifle, I'd use a Greatcrossbow as the template. Gnommish crossbow-sights. Those lenses from MiC that improve your range. Definitely pick up the two or three spells, and have the three weapon crystals you rotate through, to make sure you can get sneak attack with it.

Hardness increasing can be the penetrators.
Brilliant Energy can be Armor-Piercing.

Ash pheonix weapon crystal would be incendiary rounds...but I'd probably tack on flaming as well for that effect.

Make the modification into a Repeating crossbow, I believe the clip can be grandfathered in from A&E.

I guess from there, it's thematical (fluff) to make it a long dark tube, and if you really want to get freaky...


No, just give it pluses, and probably Seeking and

Other add-ons: Distance, Ghost Touch, Magebane, Blood-seeking.
Splatterifics: Exit Wound, Wounding, Explosive, Burst enhancements.

Specific Banes perhaps, but Psibane and Magebane together are a formidable pair. Speaking about: Psi, if you're dealing with it, look at Dissipater for your ectoplasm needs.
