So, the Dread Necromancer has Necromancy, the Beguiler has Illusion and Enchantment, and the Warmage has Evocation.

So, dear playgrounders, what would other classes for the other schools be called (Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Transmutation)?

What sort of abilities would they need to have to be viable?

I'm terrible at spellcasting classes, and probably base classes too, so I come to you guys for ideas here.

If anyone has done these sorts of things before, please point me in the direction of the thread(s).

I did three of them. Please, don't post in those threads though, they're quite old.
-The Rearranger (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99314), a transmutation specialist. It got a good reaction, though I need to revisit it sometime for an update.
-The Savant and Summoner (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95336) (ignore the spellweaver found there). The Savant was an Abjuration/Divination specialist (weak schools, I rolled them together accordingly). The Summoner was a summoner. Surprise, surprise. However, the Summoner also had a number of standard conjurations on their list, and was fairly adept at battlefield control.

Oh, I like those classes arguskos. Do the hyphens in the spell tables mean you get spells there if you have bonus spells of the level? If yes, then you could very early get a lantern archon companion. (cheerful reading light, not to mention oh so many continual flames)

No, much other casting classes, those indicate no spells of that level. If there is a 0 on the table, then you get bonus spells only (I don't believe any of the ones there do).

I've made two.
The Seer (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158308) (Abjuration/Divination)
The Spellshifter (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9030566) (Transmutation)
I've been intending to make a Conjuration one at some point.

I would actually combine them differently from some others we have seen on these lists:

Summoner: Conjuration (Summoning), Conjuration (Teleportation), Conjuration (Calling) and some Abjurations. Why? Because you need them to keep your summonees trapped, or they eat you.

Second one: Battlefield control conjurations, abjurations and transmutations.

Seer: Divination. Perhaps limited abjurations too, but I would rather give it more class features.

I've actually started working on them, but currently, they are festering on my enormous pile of half-done or concept-stage homebrew and might never see the light of day.
