combineing magic items

As the tit;e said i am not sure how to combine magic items. i am hoping to add the folding boat(7,200gp) and folding sand vessel(100,000gp) together for as low cost as possible. Yes i did look in the DMG but it did not explain it well to me.

Magic item compendium Pg 233: improving magic items.

Basically you can either pay 1x or 1.5x the cost of the second magic item effect you have enchanted onto the item (depending on how your GM interprets the rules).

Start with the 100,000 sand vessel and add the folding boat for either 7200 or 10800. total cost either 107200 or 110800 depending on your GM. (I'd allow the cheaper).

Note that generally you can only combine certain things. Folding boats almost certainly don't qualify. What would it mean, anyway? Each one folds into something else, what would they even do if they were "combined"?
