Welcome to the fifth iteration of the Draw your Friends game/competition, the game/competition were you draw for a friend.

I'm one of your hosts and the founder of this game/competition, none other than The Grandmaster of Friendly Administration, Fin.
Our other host is araveugnitsuga, you may call him Pink-Haired August.

Info
The Guidelines

The game starts when we reach the 20 volunteers.
You may join by posting your desire to do so in the current thread.
If you participated in the last iteration you must repost in the running thread, posting on a thread that has undergone will not count.
You will be assigned a fellow volunteer to draw for through a PM by your respective host.
You have 7 days to draw it.
You may draw in any style you wish.
The idea is to draw something related to your assigned playgrounder.
Any format is welcomed, from avatar to a giant watercolor image.
When you are finished you PM it to your assigned host.
Don't post the image here.

Extensions are permissible if you PM a host asking for it and a reasonable extended time-frame.


Themes

They are here! What the theme will be is yet to be determined between myself and Pinky, look out for an announcement shortly.

The Workings

There are two phases.
On the "First Phase" you are assigned a fellow volunteer to be draw.
The second phase is entirely optional.
On the "Second Phase" a host reveals all the images.
You may guess on who draw it and by whom it was drawn.
After two days such information will be revealed.


The Wishlist

You can only enter The Wishlist if you didn't participate in the previous round and the contest already has started.
If you enter the Wishlist you are automatically included on the next round.

"S'il vous plaît" is used for people you have never met before, or don't know well, or to be polite to someone older that you are or senior to you in some form.

"S'il te plaît" is used within the family, to close (how close is difficult to define !) friends, and from adults to children.

I think the title of this competition pretty much makes the S'il te plaît the correct form.

Not necessarily. Firstly, we kept the theme very open to interpretation so we can't really spell what it means out for you. But examples that spring to mind would be maybe putting a person's avvie into a gritty scene, like a fight scene or some kind of shady activity. Alternatively it could be that you re-style the avvie into a completely different art style, which could qualify as edgier. However if you want to draw the avvie 'rougher' as that is how you interpret it go for it. :smallsmile:

Though please don't feel pressered by the themes feel free to stick to them as strictly or a loosely as you like.

For those translating things and getting weird results or those who don't understand the theme:

Grittier and Edgier is a phrase used to denote the conversion of a seemingly peaceful or perceived as soft, fluffy or appealing to child concept, or even a plain normal concept into something which springs horrors into the mind of the viewer, or just deals great doses of not-present-before action in both the euphemism and literal interpretation of the word.

In other words, adapt something into what could be perceived as more "mature".
Disclaimer, mature in this case means geared toward a teenage psicopath mind.

It's how you stalk look for someone interests and preferred subjects.

It's a great aid when dealing with Avatarless people or you wish to produce something that could be deeper than a reinvention of one persons avatar.

But at the end, it's the effort and meaning you put into it what makes a drawing great or deep.

At least that's my take.

Ok, I am going to official-ify this mini game because I like the sound of it. I apologise to Zefir if I change his rules in a way he doesn't like but I think it's best we make this as simple as possible.

Mini Game Rules


The aim is to draw a comic/scene involving the avatar you drew in the last round meeting either your own avatar or another avatar you drew recently either for yourself or someone else.
Please do not use the avatar that will be revealed on Friday
Please feel free to submit these mini game entries as soon as you have completed them so that everyone can see and provide a nice distraction whilst we wait for the reveal thread.
If you have not played before and so don't have any previous avatars to include feel free to draw any two avatars meeting provided that neither of them is the one you are submitting for Friday's reveal.
This game is completely optional, only participate if you want to and have the time. It is not a mandatory part of Draw Your Friends

Two hours actually.

And it's not my time, I work mainly with GMT 0 because it's the easiest one to calculate from.

I'm now noticing that one of the reasons of so many last minute submissions is that there is no real defined time for the deadline. -Which is now wrecking chaos as many participants notice that they have a lot less time then they thought.

Even though we want to keep this relatively laid-back, last round it just got ridiculous, so this time, we have to keep the reveal running on time, for the sake of credibility and order.

I think the tables wouldn't be that complex. I just post

And bellow due date.

The posting of the avatars is going to happen in half an hour, however, before the 48 hours after the reveal are reached, you can still send it in, if only for honours sake.

There's three "edges" taped to the wall, and the mime is shoveling "grit" into it with a toy shovel. It was meant to be a bit of a postmodern avatar, with a implausibility of solid dirt/grit being shoveled inside three 2-D lines taped to the wall.

Basically, abstract open-ended themes happened =p.

There's a perfectly good reason that the picture I drew looks like it was done in five minutes on MSPaint. It's because I did it on MSPaint, but it took me a good hour or so. I wanna get this straight right now: I am not very good at the pictures. I can't art particularly well. What I can do is have ideas and boy did I have tons of ideas. A gem-encrusted pistol, laying on a table in the dark. The sillhouette of a figure, hammer raised to crush the skull of another sillhouette. However, since I am not the best at arting, I could not realise these ideas in Inkscapical form. I can however, draw a sort of half-deliberately-bad, half-bad-by-necessity style in MSPaint. It has something of its own charm, if I do say so myself, and apparently at least one person agrees because they are currently using an avatar in the same style which they asked me to make. The grittiness and edginess and whathaveyou that's supposed to be there is not inherent in the image itself, but it's represented by the frustration I felt at being unable to create the pictures that I wanted to.

I hope you're not disappointed Zefir.

How can I be disappointed if you tried your best?
Ok I can't say its a greqat work or that it's the best I ever saw, but tthe main thing (I tend to forget it) is that you tried your best and don't mess with others. If I would do this I youldn't have joined this aver all cause I myyself think i do the worst avatars here.

tinypic has relatively short urls.

As for the Avatar I made, I'm not particularly into redrawing, yet, the theme kinda forced me to do so. So what initially was very similar to Szilard's avatar, morphed into something almost completely different, with the only similarity being the head (and we all know how recognizable OoTS heads are if it were not for hair/skintone).
