I am making a deep imaskari character and the backstory is she wants to collect all the Imaskarcana and use them with an epic spell to bring back the entire race. but I am not sure what class to take but I think ether wizard of artificer though if I take wizard I don't know what schools I should pick so I would like to know your input on the class or if you have any interesting Ideas on the character. I think thinking about maybe an abjurer but I want opinions.

I'm going trying to convince the party to let me get the third Imaskarcana first just because it is an amazing artifact (Time stop and meteor storm among others as spell-like abilities wow) That and it makes a really cool campaign

what makes a artificer even worth taking I can't see why there good, but I guess imaskari were master artificers so good role-play.

As far as I understand it (having not played one myself): Artificers are master crafters. They've got a wand/scroll for every occasion, which means they're versatile as all hell. Versatility is key to being a winrar.

Artificers can create magic items very efficiently, thereby making them effectively wealthier than other characters. Wealth is one of the most powerful things in D&D. That said, their infusions and class features are nothing to scoff at. They are very hard to build and moderately hard to play, though, so it's understandable that you didn't immediately see their power.

It is sometimes hard to gauge the power of spells and abilities. For example, Time Stop is considered really good, while Meteor Swarm is lackluster. I would actually propose to either play a spontaneous caster with a large spell-list (like a Beguiler, or a Warmage heading into Rainbow Servant), or to read some of the guides for playing wizards. Otherwise, you might make bad spell-choices, resulting in a weak wizard.

Which book is the Third Imascarana in? I only know of the first and the fifth, in Lost Empires of Faerun.

Just wanted to point out: Imaskari were not artificers as "members of the artificer class", they were all mages (wizards and - after 3rd edition "retcon" - quite possibly sorcerers).
