So am I having technical difficulties or did the search function disappear?

It amazes me just how many people are willing to go to the effort of posting questions here but don't bother to read the announcements (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/announcement.php?f=25&a=58) or news (http://www.giantitp.com/index.html#NV7Q9BBf8ossKv7DZy6).

This is the third thread asking about the exact things that both the announcement and news post state quite clearly are temporarily disabled.

"Searching has been disabled" Is this related to the constant errors returned when I tried to log on earlier?

Essentially, the site is undergoing some major renovations. There were some unforeseen issues earlier while altering the site, making it slower and even stopped for a while.

I'm sure the site will be fine shortly. In the mean time, missing the search function isn't that big of a loss. Using Google will produce the same or better results, usually, from what I've heard.

Yup, just go to google and type in the box:

site:giantitp.com stuff you're searching for

It works much better than the forum version.

Pro tip: Using "site:microsoft.com" in Google produces much better results than Microsoft's own internal search engine.
