So I'm curious as to what those who DM campaigns think about a site I found. The website is http://www.obsidianportal.com. I bummed around on it and saw that this could be an excellent way to keep all the campaign notes together at hand, as well as a way to let others know about games, etc. I would like to hear what others think though as I'm easily taken in by new shiny baubles.

I've played around with it a bit. I personally prefer Masterplan, my own wiki, and various other things sitting around on my linux computer for notes, since I have no problem finding players.

Fair enough, like I said just curious, I tend to have a problem with keeping my players up to date if they miss something, or they forget a house rule and this looks like a decent solution. I'm just wary on the "become a member" add-ons that the site has.

We're using it as the latest in a series of gimmicks to help keep track of things. It works fine but, like google wave before it, and whatever we used before that, people still don't bother to check it or keep it updated. It's a good repository for house rules and I still keep a campaign journal on it, but no one else bothers with it much.

I use http://www.startingtavern.com - that has the added benefit of emailing each player each night if something has happened on their campaign during the day - that way they get reminded to check the site.

It's worth noting that Obsidian Portal is not new or rare - for comparison it's user base is more than 10x Starting Tavern, at least according to alexa. It's a mistake of course to suggest that popular=good or that unpopular=bad, but I think it is worth pointing out that OP has both a large, established community and a pretty good track record.

Note: I don't use them myself, I just use a Google Site, but OP is by far the largest website of this type.
