When we think of powerful creatures in the game, it is often not plant creatures that people mention. What are the most powerful plant creatures? I know there's the Mu Spore in the Epic Level Handbook, but something about that just seemed not too well fleshed out, like the author didn't have much interest other than sticking Colossal Plant on a creature. I'm looking for powerful plant creatures with something of a good description.

For official and unmodified monsters, I suspect the elder treant (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/monsters/treantElder.htm) takes the cake at CR 25.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a lower CR plant out there that is actually stronger. Especially if they have casting or access to better SLAs.

That's a nice find. There is even some flavoring froman old Monster Mayhem article: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mm/20020920a

The battlebriar (MM3) is CR 15, pretty hoss. The night twist (MM3) is an unusual sort of creature, and CR 12.

I particularly like this bit from that article,

Triple Damage against Objects (Ex): An elder treant who makes a full attack against an object or structure deals double damage.

LOL.

If this were a thread about Power Attack, we all know someone would chime in to claim that such an entry clearly means you get a 1:12 return on two-handed Power Attack which stacks multiplicatively with all other increasers.

Now THAT is funny.
