I would like to re-build some of the monsters for my campaign, the point being that decades ago a great arcane war caused flora and fauna to change significantly. So, things (also monsters) became magic-resistant or magic-immune. I have a few ideas which mechanics to inculde in my campaign, but would appreciate some additional ideas.

So far I have these (in different forms):
- antimagic field
- spell resistance
- spell immunity
- disjunction effect

First don't use disjunction unless you houserule its temporary.

Second, what happens if the players eat the plants? Would they be magic immune?

If you just want a dead zone, just say 2 gods of magic fought in the area eons ago and used up every ounce and scarred it in the process.
