My DM in his new campaign has decided to give 3 free LAs. Now I really want to play a wizard, you know all the power of the universe at my fingertips, ultimate cosmic power, blah blah blah. Problem is I'm having some trouble finding any templates I like that actually increase my primary casting stat, intelligence. So far my race will be a lesser tiefling so no LA on that but I have no problem dipping into some cheese and going something like Incarnate Construct Warforged or something. Anyways got any ideas?

On a side note I don't mind any homebrew.

TL;DR Have any templates for a wizard?

Don't Drow get +2 to Int, Dex and Cha?

Drow lesser Tiefling Wizard Following Eilistraee sounds cool to me.

Incarnate Construct Warforged: -2 LA, Giant type.

Quasilycanthrope (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mb/20040721a): +1 LA, Shapechanger subtype, DR 10/Silver, and a minor disguise self ability.

Primordial Giant from Secrets of Xen'drik: +0 LA, Str -4, Con -2, Int +4, Cha +4, +1 caster level for all spell-like abilities, +2 Spellcraft and UMD, can only be applied to Giants.

Variant Half-Fiend (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060630a) as an acquired template (http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20031010a): +4 LA, since you'll already have the whole thing the level progression breakdown won't matter. Your type changes to Outsider (grants proficiencies (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/typesSubtypes.htm#outsiderType) and Polymorph options), and you retain the Shapechanger subtype. Base it on an Amnizu devil from MM2, which a variant half-fiend of would likely grant Str +4, Con +4, Int +8, along with wings, and it would be particularly useful if its Secure Intelligence ability could carry over.

That ends up with a +3 LA total, and the end result gets +12 Int, DR, flight, natural armor, spell-like abilities, energy resistances, natural weapons, etc.

Phenric? (http://dndsrd.net/psionicMonsters.html#phenric-creature) Only +2 Int, but gives a lot of other benefits as well for LA2

I thought that tieflings were an entirely separate race rather than a template you can stack, same as the other planetouched like aasimar and the genasi. Like Fiendish/Celestial and their Half versions are templates you stack on top of a base creature, same with Half dragon.

And why the "Follower of Eilistraee?" part of it? Big fan of that "women running naked through the woods" thing?:smallwink:

Perhaps an Air Genasi? +2Dex and Int. -2Charisma. And they provide a lot of nice little options, more than most of the other genasi I think.

Stuff
Mind your stacking order, please. You can't take Primordial after Incarnate; the former's inherited.

You could go with a half-dragon template, which is right here (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/resources/systems/pennpaper/dnd35/soveliorsage/monstersHtoI.html#half-dragon). +2 Int and a bunch of other nice stuff for character survivability.

The Kaorti in Fiend Folio are presented as if they're a race, but the description of their Vile Transformation ability makes it a template as well. +2 LA for +4 Int, boosts to Dex and Cha as well, with a Str penalty.

I'm a fan of Voidmind from MM3 from a fluff prespective, but it's far from the best option. Gain +4 Str +2 Dex +4 Con +2 Int, three free feats. Spellwarped from the same book is nice, gaining the same stats changes save for Int, which is +4 in this case.

Though, honestly, your best best would probably be a Primordial X Half-Giant. Where X is some +2 template that boosts INT, DEX, and/or CON.

The REAL power of voidmind is that it has Immunity to Mind Affecting, Energy Drain, Ability Damage and Drain. Thats 4 of the most common and nastiest non-HP damage effects suddenly unable to touch you. It also grants SR of HD+10 which covers lots of other things. The immunity to Acid and stat boost are largely gravy (unless you're a [Air-Racial Variant] War Troll, then the Immunity to Acid is hilariously broken).

You could take just the first level of the half-dragon savage progression class... instead of the whole half-dragon template.

Lolth-touched drow is... pretty bad for a wizard. A spellwarped human achieves the same thing with superior stats and you don't owe Lolth anything.
Anyway voidmind is good if you can get it sans being controlled, but you might consider a venerable fire elf gravetouched ghoul with the first level of the half-dragon savage progression. -6 str, -- con, +9 int, +7 wis, +5 cha +4 NA and you're undead so you can dump con entirely to free up more points for int.
