Has their ever been a bard variant with Ride as a class skill?

The Skilled City Dweller (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20070228a) alternate class feature for all classes lets you drop a number of skills for others, including Ride for Tumble. Maybe you can convince your DM to get something to work in reverse? Call it Skilled Traveller or Inept City Dweller. :smallwink:

That's the link I just posted, and it does not let you to lose Tumble to gain Ride, only the opposite.

Flexible Mind (Dragon 326) lets you choose two skills you have ranks in and treat them as class skills for all of your classes.

The Areni Focus feat lets you add any skill to your list.

So does Skill Knowledge (UA), but it is intended to be used with an alternative skill system presented in UA.
