Fallout. Life in the wastes.

It was a usual day in what was once southern ontario, Canadian resistance fighters, fighting american troops. Brotherhood of Steel hunting technology, ghouls being picked on, and super mutants smashing things.

However, things are changing as winter approaches, the dark tide of snow coming to cast it's tidings of cold, and desperate times. You find yourself, out of job, out of home, and worst of all, of out friend, stuck in a lonely town, once named Cambridge.

The town square seems to be a fire department, beside a war torn library. A gathering of towns people stand around a podium which is guarded by a few heavily armed troops. Around you, you can notice a few slightly better off individuals, probably mercenaries, but thy seem to be at least semi competent.

Hello PCs.

Rose pulls her jacket tighter around her, wishing she were back in the tavern in Ontario. Damnit! I cannot believe that bastard put me out of a job! I wish I were back there... As she thinks this, she sidles up to one of the more good looking guys and pats him on the butt. "Hey, big boy. How ya doin'?"

[Torgarn]

Gerrik heads towards the fire station, doing his best not to be noticed by any others.

[Vknight]

Carl stands watching what is going on a cloak hiding his unusaul condition with a sword at his waist and one on his back.
Sighing Carl looks around he was bored, hungry, tired, and slightly angry from losing his job a few days back. Thinking about flossing his teeth with his sword for the third time that minute Carl looked for someone interesting in the crowd.

Claud lowers his hat, as so to cover his burnt skin and looks away from the town square. he fits a cigaret in his mouth and lights it up.
Why do smoothskins always make such fuz... can't they let us die without them preaching why? he says under his breath

CArl stopped entertaining that thought when 2people caught his intrest, one was a man that was smoking, Carl didn't know why people did that, next a female he thought talking to some of the men in the square. Maybe she would like to talk maybe Carl could talk to the man first.
Making up his mind the large Super Mutant moved towards the man.

"Hello, I'm Carl." A large gloved hand came out of the cloak

Claud takes out a gloved hand, not looking at the man nor showing any pice of skin.
He shakes his hand

David looks around the town square, before heading to the podium, to see what's going on

The inside of the fire station is crowded with a mix of people, all, or most armed, and busy.

As you approach the podium you get about 10 ft away and notice there is a barrier blocking out the crowd, one of the guards walks off toward the fire department.

[Torgarn]

Seeing the large number of armed people in the building Gerrik silently closes the door that he just opened a bit. Turning around he heads for the library instead.

[Vknight]

"Yes I agree. Your name? Carl told you his it is only fair" Carl if his face could be seen had a large smile and quickly took the other mans hand.

[Slayed_Prophet]

They call me Claud, and I don't remember how i call myself" The man says, still not looking at you.
"by the way, how come you say hi? A sane tar-man would have steared away...
quite weird" -his voice is hoarse, but as if he smoked heavily. he talks with a certain "somthing" in his voice, as if he hadn't talked with someone for a looong time

Carl blinks, stares "Claud? Carl like that."
Pausing he takes a moment to let the rest of the information take full effect.
"Carl not understand."
Looking at the other man a look between bewilderment and a blank face stare at him

David heads away from the podium, instead going to the library. Perhaps he'd find something useful in there.

"Carl from farther south, Carl had good friend reminded Carl of things." Carl gives a smile at a distant memory.

He thinks for a bit.
By casuality, would you know of a place called Necropolis? Is that were your friend was?
He speaks exited and rushed.

Carl stops thinks for a moment then nods
"Yes Necro, Necropol, Necropolis! He was with a human he also had a pretty lady in armor with him."

he waits, and looks as if he was abut to cry, and then he says:
Were you when they started killing everyone?
he sadly asks

Rose shrugs at the man ignoring her, then walked over toward the largest one, a strange man, and another strange man conversing, and stood close behind them.

"No Carl left awhile ago." Carl stops at that turning his head to look at the person "Hello I'm Carl."

[KingOfLaughter]

The library is a small two story structure rather destroyed and openly accessible from all sides, inside are a few guards sitting about a fire and books scattered about.

[Torgarn]

Bah, they guard everything in this town Gerrik thinks to himself. There are to many guards, if I start a conflict ere I won't make it out alive most likely. Bah, I might as well see if anyone here is of any use then. Gerrik heads towards a very large man conversing with a smaller man, intrigued by the fact that they are covering themselves so thoroughly.

Rose smiles. "I'm Rose, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Great... more shadows the man says loudly, still not looking around

Carl smiles at Rose. "Your a pretty lady Rose, Right Claud."

Do you guys know what the fuss is about around here? Gerrik questions brusequely.

"Carl don't know Carl came for job, Carl good at hitting things and using really big guns but no one hire Carl."

Ah, so a mercenary are you, perhaps you would like to join me then, I hunt out in the wastes and scavenge buildings. I can't pay you now but you would be welcome to an equal share of any loot we found.

Indeed, mostly coyote and gecko lately, I don't have the hardware to take down anything really big yet, though I can't wait for the day I fell my first deathclaw.

"Carl always wanted to see Deathclaw."

Well, it will have to be a while we'll need some better hardware as I said before, they will eat you alive, I've seen it happen.

"Maybe we get young one? Raise as pet?"

But that would require going near big ones you see.

Carls scratches his head then stops and nods. "Carl understands."

[Torgarn]

I just realized, I haven't actually introduced myself, my name is Gerrik.

[Vknight]

"Gerrick? Gerrik? Carl, Claud, Gerrik, Rose." Carl motions to the others a grin covering his face "Carl will get pet Deathclaw! Name him Scruffy!"

[KingOfLaughter]

The guard returns, a man following.

The man is dressed in a fancy black suit, the kind often times only seen in magazines and movies from before the war. He walks up to the podium and looks about the crowd. "I am John Frangivton, leader of the United Canadian Republic, I welcome you all here today to give news. We are working to return Canada to a free country! The Brotherhood, and the US Army will not hold us down anymore! We will work with our citizens to retake Cana..." The man is cut off by his head exploding, followed by a thunder clap of a sound, and then the crowd is running off in all directions, and guards are firing rounds, almost randomly, south.

[Torgarn]

Idiot, rebellions are a good way to die. This seems like a perfect opprotunity for some looting, anyone else want in? Dibs on the suit. With that he heads to the podium.

"Carl say we help them, everyone need freedom."

[Torgarn]

I think most common people would rather be safe than totally free. Gerrik yells over his shoulder as he reaches podium and begins stripping the dead man of his belongings.

[Vknight]

Carl puts his hand upon Gerriks shoulder. "You will not bury him will you, just take his belongings and leave him?"

[Torgarn]

Gerrik looks up at Carl Perhaps after the fighting clears up, at the moment I just plan to get what i can without being killed. If you insist on taking the body with us I don't mind.

[Vknight]

Carl gives a hard look. "All deserve respect, Carl does not like this."

[KingOfLaughter]

The man has his fancy black, (and now bloodstained) suit, and a pocket watch.

[Torgarn]

Gerrik takes the watch, I don't plan strip him bare Carl, that would be rather disgusting.

"Still dishonorable he speak his mind and killed for it should keep his stuff and people that did evil should pay. Carl was taught evil is opreasig others."

[KingOfLaughter]

The shooting stops as the guards realize whoever took the shot is gone now. They quickly run over and get the body before Gerrik can return the watch.

[Torgarn]

Honors a tricky thing out here in the wastes, besides, if he is dead he has no use for it, dead men are just flesh after all. I take what I can, if I didn't I'd be a fool.

Rose sighs at the looting. Great... another one of these towns.... Suppressing an angry sigh, she puts on a frown and walks up to the group of men. "You know, all mercenaries need someone to talk price with their employers... I'm always up for hire." she says, smiling sweetly at them.

[Volthawk]

Upon hearing the shot, David runs out the library and runs over to the body, but only needs to have a look to realise that he was already dead. He won't be able to help here.

[KingOfLaughter]

The guards quickly lock down the fire department, and as sudden as it began the streets are empty and the air free of noise. It is the 4 of you standing together on the platform.

[Torgarn]

Gerrik hops off of the platform, We are too exposed here, if the sniper who took that man out assumes we are supporters, we may be next.

[Slayed_Prophet]

I agree, but we first must make him forget our shadows! ill throw somthing.Claud looks for a nerby rock, trying to find somthing...

Carl thinks for a second then grabs the platforms edge ripping a chuck off and throwing it into the air for a distraction

Claud runs for the nearest piece of cover

Carl follows behind grabbing and carrying the less agile pair of Gerrik & Rose

David, having been on the podium to check the dead guy, runs as well, not wanting to be blamed for all this.

[Torgarn]

Oi, put me down, I'm liable to be shot. I can protect myself.

[Vknight]

Carl puts him down once behind cover. "Carl just helping, you probably not fast like Carl."

[Torgarn]

I appreciate the intent of your actions, I just feel uncomfortable being powerless in your large arms. Don't worry to much about me though, I've survived in the wastes up until this point on my own feet so far. With that Gerrik sets off in the direction the others have fled in.

Rose looks up and smiles at the large man. "Thank you."

[Slayed_Prophet]

Claud's hat blows of as he runs, revealing a burned and scared skin, with moultple knife wounds, bearly notisable by the rest of his discolored skin. His head holds only a few white hairs here and there.
once Claud is under cover, he shouts to Gerrik:
Hey, Somoothskin!, leaving town alredy?
he turns to Carl:
Nice thing you did there eh?

I might be, this town seems to be nothing but trouble, all of the nice looking places for salvage are guarded, people being shot, fortune seems to favor not being here.

[Halna LeGavilk]

Rose slips out of Carl's grip and nods. "It seems like the smart thing to do. The people in the town are obviously troublemakers."

[Vknight]

Carl smiles and nods to Rose and Gerrik
"Carl thinks we salvage but avoid, conf, confron, confrontation, for most part. Then maybe we help good ones."

yeah, salvaging can be done alright

Rose nods at Carl. "That's a very good plan. Do you know anywhere were we can salvage?"

[Vknight]

"Gerrik say he know place. Carl would also say people in shiny armor and one's like Carl got good stuff."

[Torgarn]

This was one of several leads I was following, I heard of abandoned town to the east of here as well. There my be salvage there. Of course less than reputable persons may have taken up there, but taking out some raiders is almost like doing a good deed.

Raiders? why should we find with them sicktards when we hava a town in the brink of ashes?
his manner of speaking only makes his words harder to understand

They have a heavily armed force inside of the fire station, it is more than large enough to take us all out.

[Vknight]

"Carl could smash Raiders like coyote head, Carl won't hurt innocent."

David catches his breath. "What the hell was that for? Throwing around bits of the podium? What is wrong with you people?"

[Halna LeGavilk]

Rose turns to David and frowns. "Surviving, I believe. But that might just be me. Maybe everyone else was doing it for fun."

"Carl think podium distract people. Carl would have perferred to use Gerrik, or person Carl don't know name."

[Volthawk]

David thinks for a few seconds. "Oh right. Thought whoever shot that guy up there would have a go at you guys?"

[Vknight]

"Bad men kill good people, Carl kills them to stop them."

[Slayed_Prophet]

Carl, if we stay here we will not only gain our yearly supply of caps and tech, but also we will smash the bad guy's head
He talks in a comprehencive manner

[Volthawk]

"Oh, and who is this 'bad guy' then?"

[Vknight]

"He who kills to stop others beliefs, he who kills for no reason. Little man there are many things."

[Volthawk]

"But here's the thing. How do you know the other person has no reason? Do you know all their reasoning, and the validity of them, before you kill?"

[Torgarn]

If you guys really believe that staying here will somehow lead to you killing the sniper go right ahead. I've got places to be. Gerrik starts strolling away to the east.

[Vknight]

Carl draws a sword pointing it at the unnamed man. "Carl don't like you, how can Carl trust you when you have yet to tell Carl your name. How can Carl know your not one of the bad people trying to trick Carl?"

[Volthawk]

David sighs. "I'm David. Look, I'm just making sure you have a proper definition of 'bad people', so you don't go around killing good people by mistake. I've seen it happen before."

[Vknight]

"Carl does not like you. Your not nice like Gerrick, Claud or Rose. How can Carl know you not with bad people?"

[KingOfLaughter]

As Gerrik trods off, he notices a subway entrance, or maybe a bomb shelter entrance.

[Torgarn]

Oi, you guys, come look at this. Gerrik gestures. This looks promising, always lots of lovely things in the underground.

[Vknight]

Carl nods coming towards Gerrik "We talk later David."
His sword points at the shelter in a smash it gesture.

[Volthawk]

David sighs again. Great. Looks like the big guy might go all Knight Templar on me.

"Well, while I'm here, I may as well do my job. Anyone injured?"

[Halna LeGavilk]

Rose checks herself over and then shakes her head. "I'm good." she then goes to join Carl and the rest.

[Vknight]

"Carl smash?"

[Halna LeGavilk]

Rose giggled. "Not now, Carl, silly boy. Let's try something quieter first."

[Torgarn]

Let me have a look at it Carl. Gerrik tries to open the door and if it is locked looks for a lock to pick.

After hearing the sound of a locked door, Claud begins to mutter, as his face is overwhehelmed by terror
did anyone brought a geiger? undergrounds means shelter, and shelter means failed shelter, which in turn is rads, and ohhh i don't want rads, I mean, have you ever seen a feral ghoul before? they are filled with those things, then they get locked, then smoothskins get dirt-naps, then I become feral, oh no, i ain't going insi-i-de there without-t-t a geige-r-r!

Carl puts his hand to Clauds shoulder. "Carl go first, Carl no afraid."

"Well, radiation can be treated, you know. Plus I'm pretty sure ghouls need to take a hell of a lot of rads to go feral. The rest of us would likely be crippled or dead by that point."

[Vknight]

"See David useful he know medical things!" Carl holds his hand up to David in a high five.

[KingOfLaughter]

The door takes a little bit of muscle to open but sure enough it does, it opens onto a large foyer room, dark, the light from outside only showing far enough in to show a bare floor and roof, and walls. Only a lightswitch to break the bland gray stone.

The room is about 20ft from wall to wall, and you see bout 30ft in, which is whee the shadows are too dark to see.
The light switch is 10 ft in.

Gerrik flicks the switch.

When we start hearing screams i run before rads come along!

"Carl ready." Carl poistions himself to defend everyone else.

Rose draws her machete, a nervous light in her eyes.

[Slayed_Prophet]

Claud takes out his 10 mm, hiding behind the monstrous body of Carl, only letting his 10 mm stick out. He shakes uncontrolably,always looking behind him and murmuring words to low for anyone to listen anything but mumble

A light flickers on briefly, showing a desk and a door, but then the bulb fuzzes out, and a pop is heard.

[Slayed_Prophet]

at the pop, Claud jumps starteled, then he takes out a cigaret and smokes it in roughly 20 secs, then pulls out another and lights it, smoking fast to tranquilize his nerves

[Volthawk]

"Man, you're a nervous wreck. Then again, I suppose that helps with survival..."

[Vknight]

Carl moves forward and slams the door with his sword.

[Torgarn]

Oi, Carl, try opening a door before smashing it wont you.

[Slayed_Prophet]

yeah Carl-man, our sh-sh-shadows are at risk every t-t-time you b-b-bash somthing! he murmurs to Carl

[Halna LeGavilk]

Rose puts her hand on Carl's arm, then cautiously moves in, her machete at the ready.

[Vknight]

"Carl make sure door is not stuck, doors break when Carl hits them." Carl grabs the door trying to open it. "Plus things on other side scared if door is smashed open or badly broken."

[KingOfLaughter]

The door shakes form the hit, but remains, and opens just fine. Nothing eally abl to be seen on the other side.

Carl steps in trying to see everything and block and stray shots from getting through

David waits for the rest of the group to go in before going in.

[KingOfLaughter]

As you all move closer to the inner door, the outer door slams shut, and the lights flick on, revealing a long hallway, with a dead body beside a door at the far end, a hole in the wall, too small for any humanoid, about half way between you and the body.

[Vknight]

Carl check the man to see how bad he is.

[Volthawk]

David walks over to the body and checks if it's fully dead.

[KingOfLaughter]

As you'e walking toward the body 3 rats scamper out of the hole in the wall.

[Vknight]

Carl will move forward pointing his blade and will be ready to attack if he must do so.

[Halna LeGavilk]

Rose moves forward, towards the rats, and brandishes her machete, trying to strike one if it gets too close.

[Torgarn]

Gerrik pulls his bow from his back and fires an arrow at one of the rats.

Claud takes a look at the size of the rats, to see if they are gigantic
