So, in the campaign I'm running, there's a good chance that the party will be tracked and/or tracking someone.

I have no idea how to make this interesting or fun at all. I really don't understand how to make something like this interesting.

- tracking through a jungle
- Gathering info through a city
- sneaking into places
- etc etc.

I have gotten really lazy. It's been dungeon after dungeon recently, and that's no good. I want to see the party have more opportunities to roleplay.. I'm just really bad at making things work out. I was thinking if anyone can give me, sort of... examples of roleplaying in non-combat situations... I'd really appreciate it. Are there maybe campaign logs or something of this sort worth looking at?

When you're tracking something, don't just have the Ranger use track and roll survival, then tell him "he went thataway!"

Tracking shouldn't just be defined by a die roll. Have them find clues and footprints. Go descriptive. Leave red herrings.
