Hey guys,

I started GMing a game. I now need a tool for maps, because the fights will be to complicated without.

I searched for it but I can't find something that works.
Can someone help me please?

Thanks in advanced

One of the things I've seen that's both pretty simple and pretty effective (at least for tracking people; not for looking good) is to just use a Google Docs spreadsheet. Easy points of reference and, if you set the permissions right, people can move themselves around.

Gametable is probably the best option here - it's fairly simple but gets the job done (there is an export map to image option somewhere in it). MapTool (from RPTools site) can potentially provide nicer looking map and possibly with more information on them, but last time I looked on their site it lacked option to export whole map to image. Regardless RPTools site holds one additional thing you'll want - TokenTool, for making tokens to use with whatever map creation utility you decide on.

Both Gametable and Maptool should be easily findable via google.

Samples:

- Gametable (with some mod that added 4e related status icons that I can't remember where I got from)

- Maptool (using one of 4e frameworks - more info on map, but only a bit of the map could be exported)
