Opening Crawl (http://www.starwars.com/games/playnow/crawl_creator/index.jsp?cs=skgxbwkg95)

Only a small canyon and a large contingent of CIS troops stands between the Republic strike force and a possible end to the war. Jedi Masters Aeron, Da'car, Vahn, Vookto, Zhee, and Zian stand hidden in a small clearing with two padawans--Dorn Tlo, a Kel Dor, and Kriss Binta, a Nautolan--as well as a platoon from the 327th Clone Battalion, forty-three clones strong including its clone commander, ARC Commander Niner. The enemy force seems oblivious to their presence, and the Jedi Masters are currently together with Niner listening to reports from their scouts. Master Vahn was a late and quite unofficial addition to the mission, but the other Masters have worked with Niner and his platoon before at various times, and he has expressed his appreciation for being chosen to execute this last mission with them.

A short distance to the east, Master Plo Koon prepares to lead a squadron of ARC-170s from the 7th Sky Corps in an attack on the bridge city ahead to cover the ground assault. During their briefing, the Kel Dor Council member's familiar presence reaches out to the Jedi Masters in the Force: My squadron is prepared to launch on your signal, Masters, and let us hope that this will be the last time it is required to do so. May the Force be with us all. Koon out.

As the briefing concludes, the group gathers around a holoprojector to discuss what the best approach to their target would be. A few minutes later, the plan of attack decided, the Jedi and clones move out toward the bridge. With the aid of the Force, the enemy battalion ahead will fall; if all goes according to plan, so will their leaders inside. And, if it is the will of the Force, the entire Confederacy will topple in turn. The war that has claimed the lives of many Jedi and even more clone troopers could very well end in just a few minutes more....

This is the in-character thread for the An Order Unfulfilled SWSE game; the out-of-character thread is here. Head over to the OOC thread to check in, and once everyone's ready we'll start. In the meantime, feel free to post in-character chatter, character descriptions, and the like.

Arah Zhee

After being his master for five years Arah Zhee has gotten very good at keeping a close eye on Dorn Tlo without - and here is the important part - actually looking like she is watching him at all.

The boy (he was well into adulthood, but Arah's mind simply couldn't wrap around that fact just yet) had seen far more than she had while she was a Padawan and learned most of what he was taught (which is all any of us can hope for). If he performed admirably today, which she had no doubt he would, she would likely suggest to the council that he be promoted to knighthood. He wouldn't be the only one. Knighting ceremonies had reduced to just a trickle during the war. Many masters didn't want to release their Padawans if it meant they would have to fight in battle alone, regardless of whether they would have been considered ready during more peaceful times. It was sentimental, but the bond between Master and Padawan was one of the few Jedi were allowed, and it was cherished. After the war Arah had no doubt there would be a sudden flood of Knighting ceremonies - to make official what had, for many, been true for years.

They would also have to deal with Chancellor Palpatine. The council was worried about it. They were too smart to not notice that he had steadily gained power during the course of this war and might not want to give it up. They were prepared to intercede, temporarily of course, if he tried to stay in office after the treaties were signed. They should have been insisting on his resignation after the war as a condition of their service, because their use (and therefore leverage) would diminish as soon as it was over, but the council didn't. Arah didn't understand why - which was, perhaps, why she wasn't on the council herself.

But those were thoughts for later, and the battle was now. Arah's first job was to get herself and her padawan through it.

Jedi Master Tripp Aeron

Tripp pulled back the hood of his robe as he looked up hearing Plo-Koon's telepathic well wish in his head he returned feelings of readiness and hope. Today was a grand day it would soon mark the end of the CIS and bring a quick end to the strife that plagued the Galaxy these last years. Still something wasn't quite right.

The tall broad shouldered man shifted his stance near the holoprojector running a hand through his blond locks that hung free around his shoulders it had been years since it was bound in the knot of a Padawan but each time the wind blew through it brought a sense of confidence and freedom to the Master. Steely gray eyes turned towards his companions a few like him still favored the traditional robes of the Jedi which he was glad to see, more and more Knights lately seemed to embracing roles more as Warlords than leaders. The moment a general or admiral put down his comlink and picked up his lightsaber he became just another Soldier. Though some seemed worth their weight as 10 or 100 Soldiers.

Tan and brown robes billowed for a moment in the breezy air of Cato Nemoidia Tripp cocked his head to it almost listening to the breeze instead he was sizing the rest of the Masters and Knights up. Almost all had seen more than few scraps, all except one. Jedi Master Ekaterina Vahn was not a presence Tripp had expected to see ever again, though not an unwelcome one. Her presence brought back memories that Tripp had not revisited in a long time, good memories of an age more civilized. How or why the flame haired little Master had made her way out was something that Tripp had been chewing on in his gut since they made dirt side on the planet.

Jedi knight Rhys Da'car

Rhys stood quietly in the group of masters. Despite his experience he was still one of the younger jedi members of the strike team only older than the padawans that accompanied their respective masters. As part of the generation of knights that came into their own in during the clone wars, Rhys dressed accordingly with a smattering of mismatched armour pieces under his jedi robe. The armour filled out his already solid form and made him look the part of the soldier he had been forced to become. His shoulder length dark hair, unmarred by steaks of grey, was tied at nape of his neck with a knotted leather thong and whipped around him in the wind.

This was the largest number of jedi Rhys had seen in once place since the battle of Geonosis. The council was placing great importance on this attack to pull so many jeid together. While not a master himself, if he'd spent less time bouncing around the mid-rim from one battle field to the next and had actually been back to the temple since the war began, perhaps Kriss would have entered his trials and Rhys might have been awarded the title of Jedi Master already. The Force, however, had not willed it so and Rhys and his padawan, Kriss Binta, had been diverted from their defense of a republic medical station in a nearby system to reinforce the strike mission.

Master Kloon's message filled him with hope that the success of this mission might put an end to the fighting for good and perhaps Kriss could witness the galaxy at peace once more. Rhys calmed his mind, careful not to let his sudden feeling of hope distract him in the face of the impending attack.

Jedi master Sienn Zian

Although the force provided little guidence today Master Koons message filled him with confidence. With so many masters gathered for this assault it would surely succeed.

Binding his Lekku together and straightening a torn and tattered robe the master flashed a smile at the rest of the group "Don't worry about anything I've been on a dozen missions like this before. We'll be back at the temple before lunch tomorrow"

But he could feel something was off, something he couldn't quite put his finger on.

(srry for the delay I didnt know the forum was up)
The duros Jedi Vooktu looked out of place among the other knights. He chose not to wear the traditional brown robes but a decorated flight suit, lightsaber and blasters clipped to his belt. He looked to the sky longingly, wishing he could be with master Plo Koon in the arc 170s. Why had he been placed on the ground? The council knew he was best pilot in the Jedi academy. It wouldn't be the first time they had made a misguided decision. Still, there was a reason for everything. Surveyed the scene but already knew his suggestion before he even looked at their opposition.

"We should send in the arc170s first, give them a clear shot with no chance of friendly fire. While the enemy is distracted by the air strike we can move our snipers into position to cover our assault. This should minimize casualties."

Master Ekaterina Vahn

She felt like a carrion bird, hovering over the battlefield-to-come and wondering which of the people she was looking at would be dead before the day was out.

The comparison wasn't lost on her fellows, either. Oh, they probably weren't thinking of it quite like that, but she could feel their discomfort at her presence and all-too-brief explanation. She shared it. Declining to fight a war you didn't think was right was one thing, standing on the battlefield and refusing to lift a hand to help quite another. Ekaterina had kept well away from the war's front lines for just that reason, drifting through a succession of sleepy backwater planets far from anything of strategic worth.

And yet here she was on Cato Neimoidia, of all places, one of the great fortress-worlds of the Confederacy. Strange places you found yourself, following the will of the Force.

She was sorely tempted to take up her saber and join Tripp and the others. The Force had guided her here for a reason, and she couldn't see why else. Had she been wrong to stay away? She didn't think so. She'd had three years to think on that decision, and it still felt right to her. She loathed the thought of the Jedi becoming nothing more than another arm of the Republic's law enforcement, or worse its military, and that was undeniably what was happening—had already happened, in the public eye. But it didn't feel right to stand by and do nothing while friends and acquaintances fought for their lives, either, and she wondered if it was pride that made her cling to that decision, if after years of refusing to fight she was simply too stubborn to admit she'd been wrong.

That was half her discomfort. The other half went deeper than conscious thought or even emotion, a sense of tension that permeated the world all around her. If she had to describe it with words, she would have said it felt like sitting on a layer of thin ice and feeling powerful currents rush past just a few feet beneath, but that didn't really describe it.

Shatterpoint, Master Windu would have said. She'd sat in on his lessons a few times, and liked that word. But she couldn't see where it was, only that something was going to give way soon, and then everything would be different.

Some of the others could feel it, too; she wasn't sure if they knew what it was or mistook it for pre-battle nerves, but they felt it. She could hear it in the Twi'lek master's bravado and Arah Zhee's franker declaration, and knew Tripp well enough to see the worry beneath his stoic silence. Her inexplicable presence probably wasn't helping to reassure them.

Yes, carrion bird was apt.

"Careful out there," she said abruptly, mostly to Tripp but not entirely. The rest were familiar faces, but the slightly younger Knight—no, he was a Master now, she reminded herself—had taught alongside her for years before the war broke out. "I didn't come all the way out here just to watch you die. Today is... well." She shakes her head briefly, not sure what she's trying to say. "I don't think it's what you expect. Keep your eyes and mind open."

Rhys Da'car

"Master Vahn, it is good to see you again. I recall many of your lectures years ago when I was but a youngling. Those times were so much better but seem so long ago.

It has been unfortunate that the jedi have been forced into our current role as military leaders but in light of what I witnessed on Geonosis I believe it was unavoidable. I am sorry that you have been drawn into this and I hope you can understand the decision many of us feel we were forced to make to take this role, not only for the Republic, but also to protect the order. I hope you do not think less of us for that."

Commander Niner listens to the discussion among the Masters as they and the clones make their way to their destination. He seems uncomfortable at the thought of Jedi arguing with one another, so there is relief in his voice when he turns to address Bannis. "Of course, Master Vookto. I've sent the signal off to Master Koon, and he and the Sky Corps should reach the target just before we do. Our snipers are already in place, feeding them targeting data."

A few minutes later, the strike force reaches their staging area. Unlike most settlements on Cato Nemoidia, which consist of long, narrow cities densely packed onto miles-long metal and stone bridges over the world's canyons, this settlement was specifically constructed to serve as a military base. The base itself is in a large stone tower, reminding some of the Jedi of the Geonosian termite-mound towers they fought in on that fateful day in the arena three years ago. Gun emplacements ring the top of the tower, and there are many hatches that could be hangar entrances, sniper posts, or worse. A large detachment of droids and tanks guards the single bridge to the tower, and between the guns and the ground troops it would be suicide to attack this fortification without air support. Fortunately, you won't have to do that; as Commander Niner orders the troops to form up for assault, ARC-170s streak by overhead led by Plo Koon's Jedi starfighter.

The gun batteries open up on the Sky Corps as they strafe the tower, filling the sky with emerald energy bolts. On their first pass, half the hatches on the nearest side of the tower are fused shut and one of the AATs on the ground is taken out of commission by Master Koon. Their second pass is met with less success as they lose the element of surprise--though Master Koon is kind enough to destroy another tank for you--but they manage to keep the guns occupied. "That's our cue," quips Niner, and the clones move out, the Jedi arranging themselves as best suits their individual fighting styles with the padawans in the back.

I assume you can figure out which units are battle droids, which are super battle droids, which are AATs, and which are clone troopers. Commander Niner is the clone in the back with the red markings, and all of you are represented by Jedi with lightsaber colors matching your speech colors. The ones with the yellow blades are the padawans. Your side gets to act first due to surprise; post away.

Rhys Da'car

The bridge is currently pretty clear of debris or opportunities for cover. The Enemy is far enough that it looks to Rhys as if it will take several moments to be able to reach them. As a result, he moves to the head of the column of troopers on the right flank. He advances in an orderly fashion, in position to be able to use his lightsaber to protect the column from enemy fire. As he advances, he centers himself in the Force and concentrates on defense of himself and his troopers.

Move action to advance 6 squares, to J30, standard action to fight defensively with no attack (acrobatics trained in place of Initiative so +10 to reflex for total of 38).

Vooktu chose to stay in the back for a number of reasons. Something had felt... wrong about the whole operation. Something was coming, he could feel it, and he didnt feel right leaving the padawans on their own.

The second is, he had never been as skilled with a lightsaber as his peers, perhaps it was too many hours in the flight simulator and not enough in the sparring chamber. The past didnt matter now only the present, and the daunting line of battle droids and tanks in front of him. While he might not be able to join the line he was hardly helpless. As vooktu advanced he raised his blaster into the air and primed the underslung grenade launcher he carried. Loaded with four ion grenades, it was the perfect weapon for these conditions

Vootu takes a deep breath, allowing the force to guide the barrel of his gun to the thickest clump of droids before opening his eyes and shouting

Jedi Master Tripp Aeron

Tripp glanced over his shoulder as Ekaterina spoke a sparkle of amusement lit in his eyes for a moment. It was hard not to relish this, he knew he should be calm but battle had an invigorating rush to it, adrenaline blazing through his body that he could control but instead let his body feel. It was a fine line to walk.

"I'm always careful." He replied, "Make sure to keep your head low."

The culminating moment seemed to crush down on Tripp, one could never really understand the roar of close air support unless one had been up on the front before. The smoldering husks in the rear of the enemy formation would make the day easier, it was sabbac luck that the two tanks destroyed weren't the ones in the front blocking the rear ones from firing. Too much to hope for though, Tripp thought. Yet enemy reinforcements would have a pickle getting around the two charred husks.

The tanks would be a problem with all that firepower and a narrow bridge to canalize the targets right into their sector of fire. Tripp looked at the clones they were packed in too tight a single blast could hit four or five of them.

"Staggered formation! Spread out!" Not there was much room to spread to but by avoiding being adjacent to each other the tanks crew served weapons wouldn't be as effective. Tripp took a moment to activate the shield on his wrist.

In a final moment he closed his eyes for a moment and drew on the Force he could feel aid coming from Ekaterina and he took advantage of the power she lent him remembering lessons of old. His knuckles popped as his hands balled into fists the Force infused his body invisible fibrous tendrils running across the surface of his skin reinforcing and shoring up the strength of his body.

A flicker of a smile crossed his face as he drew his lightsaber adding a quick twirl for flash as the silver blade ignited with the familiar snaphiss. The blade was brighter than most blades spreading a silver glow around Tripp the affect of a Durindfire Crystal he had found years ago. His aim was to draw some attention while the clones took aim.

Ekaterina Vahn

"You'll do what you think is right, of course," she replied to Rhys, outwardly unruffled but secretly pleased at his words. He was spouting a lot of nonsense about being 'forced' to do things, but he was being level-headed about their disagreement, and that was more than a lot of people were willing to grant her these days. It's always better to be sensibly wrong than hotheadedly right. "I wouldn't ask you to do anything less."

Before long the time for talking and stewing in their own nervousness was over, and the battle began in earnest: ships howled across the sky raining fire from above, and the armored men all around them moved forward at a trot, readying weapons. Master Vahn followed more slowly, taking the time to center herself in the Force before moving out. Her lightsaber still hung at her belt, and she thought the droids would probably be too preoccupied by the people charging towards them to pay her much attention, but she had no desire to stake her life on it. There was no such thing as true safety on a battlefield.

While the ARC-170s make their runs, Ekaterina will use Serenity and then activate Energy Resistance the following round; she has DR 20 against energy attacks until she stops sustaining it.

No actions yet; if the clones move forward, she'll stay a pace or two back from the front lines.

The CIS droids never knew what hit them. Master Zian opens the battle, taking the arm off a battle droid in the front line with her shot. As the droids quickly bring their weapons to bear, Commander Niner calls out "Blast them!" and the clone troopers brace their rifles. Master Vookto launches his ion grenade, and by the time it lands in the enemy's back ranks, half the battle droids are just so much scrap metal. The clones hustle up to claim the space the battle droids left and to spread out to avoid the AATs' guns.

It seems the fortress crews have finally managed to start clearing the battle debris from the ARC-170s' assault. You hear the high-pitched whine of repulsorlifts start to emanate from the tower, and it gives way to the lower hum of engine thrust as a squadron of droid starfighters lifts off and begins pursuit of your clone pilots.

The few battle droids remaining open fire on Arah and Rhys, but their aim is absolutely pathetic; the two Jedi easily block the bolts without needing to think about it. The super battle droids behind them are not so negligible, however, and as half of them also target the two Jedi in front, Arah and Rhys are hard-pressed to defend themselves. The AATs ignore the two Jedi in front, instead concentrating their cannon fire on the clones and Jedi in the back ranks.

The front line of clone troopers is mowed down by the B2 battle droids, dying stoically in silence as blaster bolts riddle their bodies, but Arah and Rhys escape unscathed. In the back, the AAT main cannons blow holes in the clone ranks. Their light cannons barely graze Bannis, who can mostly shrug it off, and strike the Kel Dor padawan, who cannot. His left arm is scorched and hanging numb at his side, but Dorn sends a reassuring pulse in the Force to Master Zhee to let her know he's okay.

Battle droids are not smart enough to autofire Jedi, so their shots don't even have a chance of hitting.

Jedi Master Tripp Aeron

Tripp felt a wrenching pain as he watched the blast from the tank's main cannon rip a hole in the rear of their formation it would blister them the longer they stayed at range. Laser fire popped and crackled as the azure flash of the clones' rifles discharged at the droids, the double staccato of the B2's scythed red beams through the air. He raised his communicator to his face and and shouted to those around him at the same time.

"Commander Niner those guns will cut your men to slag if we don't close with the clankers have them charge when you see me act."

Tripp brushed past the clone trooper picking up speed as he trotted forward and raised lightsaber high. The Force surged through him the power carried him across the span to his enemies. He impacted like a thunderbolt against the droid line. Raising his silver sword of light up in two hands he brought it down on the first droid in front of him in a fell strike.

Vooktu took his eyes off the battle for only an instant, to take a look at the flight of droid starfighters. They would be no match for the arc 170s but would unfortunately delay them until after the bridge was taken. His musingwas cut short by a blaster bolt burning over his shoulder, the bolt not actually hitting, but the searing heat stillenough to take away several layers of his exposed skin. He was glas for his flight suit which kept the injury from being worse. He needed to be more careful, not for his sake but also for the padawans...

Vooktu whirled around to see the kel dor had taken the brunt of the hit. He would not allow the kel dor to be hit again

The clone troopers begin to look around in confusion when the AAT on the left suddenly accelerates forward, decapitating the droids in front of it, but when the tank to the right skids sideways and drops off the bridge, they realize what's happening and nod thankfully toward the Masters, pumping their fists in triumph. The troopers then spread out a bit more and open fire on the remaining B1 and B2 droids, reducing most of them to slag while Master Aeron practically vanishes from sight and reappears next to the last battle droid to the left, leaving it in a dozen pieces. It is at this point that the snipers on both sides come into play, the CIS snipers attempting to take out the padawans retreating in the rear protected by Master Vookto, and the Republic snipers happily targeting the droid snipers now that they've revealed themselves.

The Separatists aren't about to give up without a fight, however. The tank on the bridge is still mostly functional with only a few dings and scrapes on its underside, and Master Aeron is dangerously close to it. The tank once again targets the clones with its main cannon, but it targets Master Zian with its secondary cannons and Master Aeron with its missile launchers, its pilot having finally figured out that the Jedi are the greater threat. Behind it, the burning husk of one of the destroyed AATs is shoved out of the way and over the side of the bridge as four dwarf spider droids skitter onto the bridge to reinforce the tank.

The battle in the air is just as fierce as the battle on the ground, if not as one-sided. As the ARC-170s pass by overhead on another strafing run on the tower, one of the droid starfighters that doesn't manage to evade their guns comes spiraling down and crashes into the bridge between the Republic forces and the spider droids, leaving a large crater and sending up plenty of smoke. An ARC-170 comes down nearby, this one fortunately missing the bridge. More droid starfighters spill out of the tower, and the guns fall silent so as not to interfere with their own forces.

Suddenly, you all feel a disturbance in the Force, and look up to see Master Koon's starfighter streaking off toward a bridge city a kilometer or so to the east, trailing flames and out of control. You didn't see what shot him down, the starfighters or the tower guns...but just before he crashes, you all hear his shocked and distracted mental "voice" say, Ware betrayal...clones turned...I don't...May the Force be wi-- before his starfighter impacts and his presence in the Force winks out.

A few seconds later, with the echoes of his last words still fresh in your mind, your communicators buzz and Master Yoda's voice comes through, laced with pain and regret: "Betrayed the Order, Palpatine has. Ordered to kill the Jedi, the clones have been. Reveal nothing, you must, if around clones you now are...wait for them to act first, for in danger you may not yet be."

Not bothering with the clone troopers' attacks, since even if they all miss they can't fail to take out all the battle droids.

He sends a short message to his padawan through the Force: Protect master Vahn. Kriss is still only a padawan, but a strong one and if it is true then placing him with master Vahn is the safest place for both of them.

Meanwhile, Rhys takes cover from the spider droids behind the crashed fighter, waiting for them to get closer and concentrates on defense from any threat.

Jedi Master Tripp Aeron

"Whuh?" Was the extent of the response Trip got off as the tank in front of him suddenly raked the areas with laser and missile fire.

Tripp dodged the pair of missiles easily the fwomp of their exhaust trail made him cough for a second. Then he closed with the tank covering the short distance in a few steps he swung his light saber in tight arc while focusing on his target with the might of the Force. He imagined the metal as extremely brittle.

Comm chatter buzzed from his communicator the Knights and Masters babbling about the clones troopers loyalty, sure it was a great time to have a measured discussion about it. The Force boiled through Tripp as his blow rained down, the living Force seemed to shout with anguish as lights were extinguished all across the galaxy.

Master Vookto launches his grenade as soon as Master Zhee passes him, and it explodes in the midst of three of the DSDs. Blue-white ion lightning arcs over their shells, and their limbs twitch slightly as they skitter a few steps away from the blast. Meanwhile, Master Aeron carves a head-sized hole in the front of the tank, taking off the pilot's left arm in the process.

The closest clone troopers train their rifles on the damaged spider droids and let loose a volley of blaster bolts, while the rest of them train their blasters (and a few ion grenades) on the AAT, doing their best to avoid hitting Master Aeron. Thanks to Bannis's grenade, the spider droids can't avoid the brunt of the clones' attacks, and they're easily blasted apart. The AAT isn't in good shape either, as one of the clones' ion grenades lands neatly in the hole Tripp created and blows off a few hatches, leaving it easy pickings for the rest of the clones.

The tank's barrel swings around erratically, as if the gunner can't decide who to target first. After a few moments of indecision, it decides to open up on the clones who damaged it, spraying the area with blaster bolts and miniature rockets that tear through the clone ranks. The spider droid chooses one clone who avoided the blasts and sends a bolt at him, dropping him as well. The clone numbers are dwindling rapidly, and there's no way of telling what other resources the CIS has stashed away in their fortress. Commander Niner's voice comes over your comms: "All right, men, we can't take much more of this. Spread out a bit more and all switch to ion grenades. Troops, form up on the nearest Jedi; they'll have the best chance to hold off whatever comes out of that tower next. And Master Jedi..." A curious tone enters the commander's voice. "It's been an honor having you all assigned to my battalion, for all those different missions. Plenty of times in this war, I've been ordered...to do some things that...that I really don't--didn't--want to do...but serving with you, all of you, was a pleasure. Ekaterina Vahn

She stood among the clones with half-closed eyes and reached out and felt as the battle raged. There was a great deal to feel. Missiles and starfighters screamed across the sky overhead, raining fire and bits of metal whenever one caught up with another. Light flew all around and past her in deadly bolts; the air was warm with them. Again and again she felt a peculiar rippling echo as clones died, each one's dying thoughts similar but not quite the same: like variations on the same musical theme. She wondered if her fellow Jedi had noticed that, and decided that they must have at some point over the last few years. All too many people thought of the clones as simply the white-hat equivalent to the Confederate combat droids, mindless drones that could be sent out to die without making those at home feel too bad about it.

And of course there were her fellow Masters, like eddies in the flow of the Force, guiding its gentle currents along new and more violent paths.

Then something else: a ripple, shock and surprise and fleeting pain. Master Koon's last words were confused, but his last thoughts were of others: that was how she would remember him, later. Then he was gone, and she mourned—all too briefly, because she could the currents all around her starting to shift and churn. If the world earlier had been poised perfectly on a cliff edge, now it was teetering and beginning to fall. Ekaterina opened her eyes fully to see a clone turning towards her, weapon still raised, and felt the prickle on the back of her neck that meant more weapons were being pointed at her.

She stared at the black slit-visor that obscured his eyes. Damnable thing; do they design them to make the people wearing it look inhuman? But while she can't see his eyes, he can see hers, a watery blue that in the ambient laser-light of a battlefield almost seems to glow. Slowly she raises both hands, showing they are empty: a universal gesture of surrender.

Niner's helmet shifts minutely side to side as he looks between Bannis and Ekaterina. "I'm sorry, Master Jedi," he whispers over all of the Jedi's comlinks, "but this order came directly from the Chancellor himself. You're right, I don't want to do this, I know it's suicidal...but I have no choice." There is a click as he switches his comlink to the main Republic channel, then with a strong voice orders "Open fire!"

Before the clones can pull their triggers, Master Zian's quick burst of Force energy blasts the clones in front of him to the ground, and they make no move to get up. Master Zhee's wide slash with her lightsaber misses the clones nearest her by a hair as they stumble back a step out of reflex. After that, all the clones open fire, and the battlefield becomes one big blue blur of plasma bolts and lightsaber blades as Jedi fight clones for their lives. (Commander Niner's blaster rifle, however, remains at his side.) Not exactly certain what's happening, but perfectly willing to take advantage of the opportunity, the AAT and spider droid also open fire on the Jedi.

Laser blasts harmlessly buzzed around him in the air he could feel his hair lift slightly as the ionized air around the beams crackled and snapped.

The focus of the four clones behind him on him sent tiny shivers up his spine but he could sense their shot patterns forming around him he did not need to react when he already knew where the shots would be before they happened. Ekaterina Vahn

Red laser-light played about Master Vahn, lending her an eerie look. It ought to have burned her down where she stood; it didn't. She was immersed in the Force: distantly she was aware of the thousands upon thousands of lives elsewhere on the planet, the ordered motion of starships and planetary bodies above her head, the radiance of Cato Neimoidia's sun. A few blaster bolts were insignificant motes before all that. They sank into her, and diffused through her into that endless sea of stars and life, and left only bare traces behind.

The flying shrapnel from a nearby explosion was not so easy to ignore. Ekaterina flinched briefly away, reminding herself that she was flesh and that this was no time to lose herself in communion with the Force. She stared at the clone who hadn't balked at shooting an unarmed woman—damn this cloning business; it really was tantamount to brainwashing—and reached, wrapping her will about his mind and sending him sliding towards unconsciousness.

To clarify: she was simply targeting a clone trooper last turn, not the commander. Now attacking the same fellow with Force Stun, and hoping it's enough to drop him.

Master Aeron's wide slash takes the AAT's front hatch completely off, and its pilot with it. The gunner's turret and the power generators below it explode up and to the sides, emitting a large cloud of oily black smoke but leaving Tripp unharmed aside from some minor abrasions from flying shrapnel, nothing some bacta couldn't fix. Master Da'car's hurled lightsaber spins through the smoke cloud to strike the dwarf spider droid behind it, slicing the droid in half before arcing back to his hand; the droid's body explodes violently and dramatically, leaving four charred legs standing at an awkward angle and a flaming crater where the body was.

In the back ranks, the clones nearest Master Vookto swear and drop their now-useless rifles as his ion grenade disables their guns and stings their hands even through their armor. The troopers draw their pistols, but those are disabled too--and by the jerky movement of their heads and their uncertain steps forward, their helmet HUDs are down as well. Master Zhee, taking a more direct approach, simply decapitates the two closest clones in an eyeblink and ends up facing the last close with her saber at the ready. This clone doesn't seem too confident about following his orders anymore. Master Vahn's target wavers, falling to one knee and cradling his helmet in both hands, his rifle clattering on the stone beside him. He isn't out of the fight yet, but he isn't doing well.

The clones decide to change tactics. They turn to focus fire on Master Zian, who seems to be the most vulnerable target at the moment. Sienn dodges as much as possible, but the blaster bolts take their toll, and his robe and exposed arms are covered in scorch marks. Niner's emotions regarding the success of his troops against Master Zian are unreadable, as well as those regarding the death of the less successful among their number, but it doesn't look like he's ready to order a ceasefire just yet.

I switched Rhys's target to the DSD, since both his and Tripp's attack would take out the AAT and Rhys's attack was at range.

Tripp Aeron

Turning from the destroyed tank Tripp slowly approached the Troopers on the other side of the bridge the bloom of fire behind him should of been enough to send them running. But they were genetically hard wired to follow orders, Tripp cold see the folly of it all now.

It would be sad to have to kill these ones.

His blade held out to the side and wide he would give them time to run, but he could see in their minds. They had no plan just point and shoot, point and shoot, they didn't even seem to have free will.

As the Jedi Masters continue to simply refuse to die and the clone numbers shrink ever more rapidly, the clones grow more hesitant in their movement and they shoot glances over at Niner more and more frequently--those who can still see through ion-shrouded helmet tech, anyway. Three more clones lose armor functions, and two more lose limbs to Master Da'car's blade. Still, for several more tense moments, the clones continue desperately focus-firing their blasters at Master Zian, hoping to take at least one target down before they're all torn to pieces. When Master Zhee plunges her lightsaber deep into Niner's chest, however, the clones finally--finally!--seem to realize that they haven't the slightest chance to complete their mission, or even come close.

The blaster fire stutters to a halt as Niner slumps to his knees, turning the entire left side of his armor into a blackened smear as his motion causes Arah's blade to cut up and through his left shoulder. "I think...." Niner says with a rattling laugh, sounding like he's ruptured a lung, "I think...my troops...have figured out...that we're...outmatched here...Master Jedi." The clones lower their rifles (most of them, at least), and the mostly-toneless electronically-modulated voice of one clone echoes in the relative silence. "But Commander...our orders! The Supreme Chancellor himself--" Niner cuts the trooper off with a dismissive wave. "Palpatine...can sit on...a vibropike. Forget...the kriffing...orders. In case you...hadn't noticed...we don't...have a...kriffing chance...in the...kriffing mando hell...of carrying...them out."

Niner picks up his rifle and, as formally as he can in the circumstances, he tosses it at Master Zhee's feet and raises his only remaining hand in surrender. The nearest clone rushes over to help him to his feet as the others toss their rifles down in surrender as well.

The clones instinctively move to obey a Jedi's order before hesitating and looking over to Niner for confirmation; at his nod, they scramble to reclaim their weapons and escort the once-again-allied Jedi back to base as the thunder of the Separatist turbolasers echoes overhead.

RhysNo snipers are currently visible--they and the clone snipers were mostly at a stalemate--but if any still remain, they'd probably be hiding in the starfighter hangars in the tower, so once everyone reached the tree line you'd be out of their sight.

Arah Zhee

Arah hangs her head for a moment before she deactivates her light saber. Speaking exclusively to Niner she whispers "I am sorry. This was not your fault."

She raises her voice, attempting to get the other Jedi's attention "We need to get off this planet and regroup - if Palpatine has ordered that the Jedi be exterminated, there are many more vulnerable than us."

She reaches out through the force to master Yoda with a simple question: protect the temple?

Taking a 10 Arah gets a 31 on her Use the Force check, which should be enough to contact Yoda unless he is either dead or unwilling to be contacted. If she can not reach him, she will try again with Mace Windu. If that fails as well she will work her way around the Council. If that fails, she'll assume she has permission to lead the defense of the temple herself.

Niner gives Arah another weak rasping chuckle. "Don't worry...Master Jedi. Wasn't...your fault...either. Both...been played." Over his helmet comm, he continues, "Don't care if...we go ahead...or retreat. Don't worry...Master Vookto, I...can convince...troops at base...you took us out...and got away." Tapping his left side, he adds dryly, "Should be easy." He slumps over into unconsciousness, and another trooper rushes up to help him out.

The first trooper carrying him speaks up. "Master Jedi, you should be able to sneak into HQ, steal some ships, and get back to Coruscant. Commander Niner ordered comm silence once we received our new orders, so as far as base is concerned we might have all been taken out." The trooper falls silent, and as the clones regroup and make adjustments to their armor in preparation for either advancement or retreat, the nearby troopers look off into the distance with the minute helmet twitches that you've come to recognize as a sign that they're discussing things over a private comm channel. After a minute or so, your comms click as the troopers switch back to the public channel. "Master Jedi, in the absence of a functional commanding officer, it is the opinion of the remaining members of the Aurek Platoon of the 237th Clone Battalion that our mission has been carried out to the best of our current capabilities," says one trooper in a formal tone, as if giving a report to a commanding officer--which, in a sense, he is. In a more casual tone, another clone cuts in to add, "So you don't need to worry about us shooting you in the back or anything. We're loyal to the Republic, but we're not suicidal." A third trooper chimes in: "If a commander back at base orders us to attack you, there's not much we can do about that, but until then, we're under your command, Generals."

After Arah attempts to reach out to Master Yoda, there is a worrying delay, but soon enough you all feel the reassuring calm of Yoda's presence in the back of your mind, though it seems worried, preoccupied. Your comms beep to signal an incoming message on the private Jedi channel. "Glad am I to know that survived you have," begins Master Yoda warmly. "Believe Order 66 has succeeded, Palpatine most likely does; giving a speech to the Senate he now is. Fortified the Temple we have, and repelled one attack of the clones already...led by Master Skywalker." Several seconds pass in silence, then he continues more somberly, "Skywalker survived and retreated, so expect another assault we do, once Palpatine is notified. Return if you can."

Vooktu takes a long pause staring at the sky, then looks back to the carnage on the ground before his eyes fall on a number of the dead clones.

"We don't just need to fortify it, the jedi temple cant stand against all of coruscant. We need to get all surviving jedi out of there and get us somewhere safe. We need a ship big enough to house the whole order and whoever decides to come with us. We need nothing short of a capital class ship. I don't think we can get away with stealing one the Acclimator class assault ships, but we may get away with one of the escort frigates. The trick is getting onto the ship and getting to the bridge. Once we get to the bridge we can depressurize the ship room by room to stop any opposition. We need to get back to base and get aboard a shuttle. and the armor of our fallen clone brothers should offer us just the way to sneak in. We can claim the lightsabers and equipment we carry are trophies and that we shot the jedi and threw their bodies from the bridge."

Tripp Aeron

Master Aeron looks around at the destruction he paused at Master Zian's body to see if there was anything to be done but he could hardly sense anything. It was an effort to summon some empathy, the banal tone of the clonetrooper letting them know they were safe until someone with authority told them to shoot just reinforced Tripp's notions. It would almost be doing them a favor to end them now, he halted mid step and shook his head. That path lead to the Dark Side. He knew that.

"Look around Vooktu, one of us is nearly dead and we are five of the Order's best. Can you imagine how this repeated out over hundreds of others worlds where the Jedi are alone with a legion? Or standing on the bride of a ship that just went mutiny against them to a man. No, we may be the few of the survivors.

I agree we need to help those at the Temple. It can't be long before they just blast it from orbit with cruisers. We need help, who do we know is currently in a war with the Republic with billions of battle droids and thousands of warships? If we are going to rescue the Jedi at the Temple we're going to need a distraction... a really big distraction."

Tripp trailed off but the truth was evident, who else had a chance of breaching the blockade and causing enough o distraction for legions of clone troopers assaulting the Jedi Temple.

It came as a relief to see that the clones weren't complete automatons, that whatever leashes the breeders on Kamino had saddled them with couldn't completely choke out their common sense. Still thinking beings, albeit uncommonly stubborn about upholding a cause they didn't (at the moment) agree with. It was something to think on. Once she could spare the time from worrying about the fate of the Order, at any rate.

The others were arguing already; she wondered if there were similar arguments taking place on Coruscant, Mygeeto, anyplace where two Jedi were left alive to wonder what came next. Fight a war against the Republic? Kill the Chancellor? Seek sanctuary from the Confederacy, or perhaps one of the independent world out on the Tingel Arm? Scatter and hide? It could tear the Order apart.

"A moment, Tripp," she said, perturbed. The war had touched him more deeply than she'd thought if his first instinct was to launch an attack on a densely populated civilized world. "I don't see that our course is as clear as all that. Take a minute to explain to an old woman before you do anything... rash?"

"Ekaterina, Bannis," Tripp sighed as he pulled up short just as Arah brushed past pulling her Padawan into her wake. He let them go. The old bat reached him more than the pilot ever would.

From the past he knew working with Ekaterina would be a challenge from the start she had the stubbornness of any clone. He pulled up short clipped his lightsaber to his belt and settled his robe more evenly over his shoulders and exhaled. He collected his thoughts even in their current straights he knew he would not get the old woman to shift forward unless he orchestrated his argument clearly.

"Our brethren are in dire straights, unless we confront this threat directly now before the people accept what has happened we will face a very different galaxy than the last few years. The Jedi Order have been the defenders of peace and justice for more than ten thousand years, how can we stand aside and let the whims of one strong armed dictator break that?"

Tripp paused focusing his perception on the now he had to remain distant for the situation though his thoughts drifted to his former apprentice, Kiera Starus who he knew was in the Temple on Coruscant presently. He pushed down his pride and concern Tripp looked into Ekaterina blue eyes part of him guessed at what she might suggest but he was weary what that might be she was a brilliant negotiator but he wondered had often she had been forced to consider the logistical costs of her idealism as he had too often the last few years. One couldn't be bound by niceties when they had to send thousands to certain death over years of war.

"The bridge leads to two places Ekaterina, we must find a way off planet if we are to save ourselves and preserve some part of the Order. We know who our enemy is, either we fight are way through to some CIS ships in the tower or we find some way to steal back to our ships and sneak away or at worst neutralize the few that stand against us and fight on. That CIS stronghold could hold who knows how many battle droids but we could get the surprise on the Clones in the camp if they believe we are dead."

He paused, Ekaterina had some idealist furball idea up her sleeve. She had never sacrificed her principles. He remembered her students had always learned quickly that methods were just as important if not more so than the results.

"What do you think?"

"I have already stated what i believe we should do. Being that we do not know if there are in fact any cis ships ahead, we have no choice but to go back. That much is certain. The clone army believes us dead and we must keep up that charade as long as possible. Luckily, the dead clones have left us with a number of now vacant suits of armor with face shielding helmets. We can use this to get into the camp and aboard a transport to get us off planet. If the ship we leave the planet in has a hyperdrive, we commandeer that ship and get to coruscant. We will have to make up the plan as we go from that point. If the ship we take off in does not have a hyperdrive, we comandeer it to get us aboard a frigate and fly that to coruscant, and use the extra firepower to evacuate the jedi still left. Then we can fly to a safe location. At some point in our plan I would like to retrieve the ship I have been modifying from the hangers in coruscant. If the plan does not permit however, well it would be irrational of me to become attached."

Master Vahn watched Tripp marshal his thoughts with approval, though she kept it from her face. Whether he managed to convince her or not, she'd at least gotten him to step back and think about his reasons, which was at least as important as whether or not she agreed with them.

"Sensible enough," she said, nodding. "If we had any time to spare, I'd say we ought to find a civilian ship instead, but we don't. So." She jerked her head briefly in the direction of the impatient Zabrak Knight, and began to walk after her. "We'll have plenty of time in transit to think on what to do once we get to the Temple," she said briskly, "so right now we ought to think on what we're going to take and how. None of the republic dropships or landing craft have3 hyperdrives. We are either going to have to commandeer a shuttle, or use one of the dropships to get up to the fleet. I couldn't say for sure what models they are using but there are likely to be shuttles there, especially if there are command units present, perhaps the clones would know which models. Bannis looks over the bodies of the fallen troopers trying to find a suit of armor that doesnt look as battle damaged. A large gaping hole in the armor would of course give away his disguise. There are no corpses with sufficiently-undamaged armor that would stand up to scrutiny, thanks to the AAT and your lightsaber work, but there are enough dead clones on the field that you can easily cobble together eight complete sets with a few minutes' work. You all drag the bodies under the tree line, to hide you from the ARC-170s above, and the troopers assist you silently as you assemble your disguises. You can definitely sense a bit of resentment that they won't be able to give all of their comrades a proper burial, since dragging eight extra bodies back to base would give away the deception, but none voice their opinion and no Jedi who hadn't spent as much time around clones as you all had would feel anything amiss.

The armor is very hot and uncomfortable for everyone with your robes and equipment beneath it, even those who are basically built like clone troopers. The non-Humans among you have it worst of all, of course--Sienn's definitely going to have cramps in his lekku for the next few hours. By the time you're all ready to move out, the clones have revived Commander Niner and gotten him back on his feet, but he's still leaning on another trooper for support. He orders the troops to form up and move out, and with that you're on the way to headquarters, leaving the carnage on the bridge and the still-raging battle in the air behind.

A quarter-hour or so later, you find yourselves back at the base. You march up to the line of sentries, Niner gives the routine sign-and-countersign identification, and he explains the situation to the nearest two sentries. "It wasn't very pretty. Order 66 came through and we tried to take them by surprise, but they saw it coming and took out half my remaining men before I saw what happened. We never really had a chance. A droid starfighter crashed and took out one or two of them, and the rest ran off into the forest after that, and that's the only reason any of us made it back here at all. My comm's damaged; comm one of the Alphas and tell them I'm taking the platoon to the med tent and that he can debrief me later."

The sentry salutes and Niner moves the group farther into the base. You hear the click of changing comm channels and Niner's voice comes through your helmets. "That should prevent anyone from poking holes in the cover story until after you're gone. Master Aeron, you're wearing CT-65/240's armor, my subcommander, so if you hear me give an order to 'Sixty-Five', that's you. 'Sixty-Five's unit' is all eight of you. We shouldn't run into any of my superiors before you can hitch a ride up to the Fleet, but if we do I want you to be prepared."

We'll use Deception for the disguises, with a -2 penalty to the Humans and a -5 to the non-Humans for the awkward fit of the armor. Everyone has time to take 20 on the check, and has the assistance of one clone trooper each, for a total result of [max roll] for the Humans and [max-3] for the rest.

Ekaterina Vahn

Ekaterina remained silent. The clone armor had adjusted to fit her surprisingly well, considering the one-size-fits-everybody nature of the armor... and her non-military posture... and her height, which was quite clearly shorter than the others; she'd affected a limp in hopes that casual onlookers would assume she was injured and couldn't stand straight. It was in fact a surprisingly good disguise considering the circumstances, but it did nothing for her voice. She might be able to grunt a couple of monosyllables without giving herself away, but that was it.

Hopefully Tripp would make sure she didn't have to say anything. Boy made a pretty decent imitation soldier; she supposed three years of leading them would do that for you.

Soon enough the platoon arrives at the med tent, and a Republic medic quickly begins triage, sorting out the clone troopers who need a dip in the portable bacta pools from those who just need bandages and minor surgery. To be triaged, all of the troopers are taking off various parts of their armor to give the medics access to their injuries; right before a medic gets to your group, Niner jerks a thumb over his shoulder and says "Sixty-Five, take your unit over by the gear tent and get us restocked. Two to one ion to frag grenade ratio, this time."

The medic, a young human female who looks to be just out of basic training, looks slightly annoyed and lifts her datapad as if to object, but Niner holds out his hands placatingly and says "Don't worry, his group's not all that banged up, you can treat them later. I need my unit ready to get back into the field soon, and that takes priority." With a sigh and shake of her head, the medic moves on to the next trooper.

TrippThrough a partially-open tent flap behind the commander, you catch sight of the wingtip of a LAAT/i transport.

"Right, Squad shift your gears. Let's Move!" Tripp works his best NCO bark he doesn't wait for the reply and immediately ducks under the tent flap assessing the LAAT/i. He takes a quick look around before jogging towards the transport like he owns the place.

"This is probably gonna be our only chance, best bet is to take off make a break for the spaceport and pretend to get shot down. We're not gonna make it past fleet security Bannis. Fleet ships have all sorts of ship board security, thermal imaging, controlled environmental systems, no where to hide or run. The cruisers are a dead end. We've gotta chance it with a smuggler. Get aboard."

Bannis' Fingers twitched with anticipation at the thought of being in the pilot seat. The others were right, they couldn't wait any longer, the starport was the best option, and they needed the transport to get there, Bannis was sure he could outmanuever the arc170s, he jogs forward to join his team, whilst doing so preparing a bit of a surprise that would keep the clones busy:

stealth check to slip 4 frag grenades into the grenade launcher of his guns without the clones noticing.

He knew little of the others skill with blasters but he hoped they would be prepared to run the turrets while he flew.

Bannis turns to niner for the last time and whispers to him and the two clones holding him up (only if I can say this out of earshot of the enemy clones)

"This may be the last time we see each other, so I'm giving you a choice. There's room for you and a bunch of your men on this transport. Come with us, help us save the republic. The empire that Palpatine is building isn't the same one that you love. Were going to need good men on our side. Come and help us save the galaxy."

Niner is silent while the Jedi pile into the transport as discreetly as possible. "You know," he says slowly over your private comm channel, "Jedi always talk about 'the galaxy'. Save the galaxy, defend the galaxy, so on. But what they really do, what they've been doing for thousands of years, is defend the Republic. I'm a clone; I've been made for the express purpose of fighting for the Republic, and I accept that. Loyalty to the Republic has always been my primary motivation, and betraying it is...well, unthinkable, really...but then, I've already disobeyed a direct order from the man who is the Republic, for all practical purposes." He looks back at the main body of the camp, at his many brother clones, for several silent moments before turning back to the Masters. "But I've seen a lot during this war. I used to think that Jedi were all heroic, perfect, invulnerable demigods, but I got over that pretty damn fast. I used to think that the Republic was the only worthwhile civilization, protecting against the dangers of anarchy and disunion, but I've seen planets with populations just as happy under the 'evil' Separatists, and populations just as happy on the Rim without any real government at all. And now I've seen my perfect Republic turn on its perfect servants, and I don't know what is right anymore."

You hear a click as the channel switches from the secure unit channel to just a link between Niner and the eight of you. He lifts his left arm from the shoulder of the trooper he's leaning on and waves vaguely at the clones around him. "These troopers aren't programmed with enough initiative to ponder these things, or even express their doubts at all. All that I just said, about changing opinions about the Republic, wouldn't even cross their minds. They're like tinnies--droids--that way, and if they heard me say that, they'd be insulted and angry, not because they resented being called mindless but because droids are 'the enemy' and nothing more. Long story short, I don't think I want to wait around here for the Chancellor to decide that we clones have outlived our usefulness and kill us off too. I may only have half the life expectancy of Jango Fett, but damn if I don't want to cut that life short with a vibroblade in the back from the higher-ups. The rank-and-files won't do it--the GAR is all they know, and they're too blindly loyal--and I bet most ARCs don't sympathize with the Jedi at all, since they never mingle. But as long as you're leading, I'm following."

With the help of two troopers, Niner levers himself up into the transport bay of the LAAT/i and switches back to the unit channel. "Troopers: About face and return to camp. You're on normal duty now. At the first opportunity, you have my express permission to retrieve the bodies of the brothers we left behind. If any of the Alphas ask, you don't know where I am and Sixty-Five's unit has been dead since the battle. Dismissed."

You have obtained one clone commander, slightly used. If anyone wants to do something before the transport takes off, post to that effect in the next day or so, then we'll take off for the spaceport. Anyone who wants to call the gunner or copilot positions can do that as well.

The LAAT/i lifts a meter off the ground with a whine of engines powering up. Some nearby clones look over in the transport's direction, but Sienn's mental influence is too strong, and they turn away again without seeing it. Bannis handles the craft as if he grew up flying Republic troop transports, and you rise out of the camp. No notice is made of your passing as you fly past the med tents, the gear sheds, and the sleeping tents. "Amazing," breathes Niner with awe in his voice. "I'm on this transport and I'm still having a hard time seeing it!" As the transport continues to rise, you break the tree line and can see over the forest canopy to the Separatist fortifications you were assaulting what seems like hours ago. There are few droid starfighters in the air, and many of the gun emplacements are smoking wreckage. The bridge to the entrance is covered in white-helmeted heads; you might not have broken into the fortress, but you certainly eviscerated the defenders enough to let the clones waltz in unopposed.

In a few more seconds you are at the edge of the camp and almost out of sight. Before you quite leave the area, however, you catch sight of one trooper in heavily-modified striped armor walking out of a command tent. It's one of the Alpha ARC troopers, one of two assigned to this critical mission. He looks up toward your transport as it zooms by overhead, shading his eyes with one gauntleted hand. He turns his head toward another trooper as if asking a question and points up at you; when the trooper doesn't respond, he drops his hand and heads back into the tent. Twenty minutes later, with Sienn's Force cloak just about to wear off, you come into sight of the civilian spaceport. Bannis lands the transport in an out-of-the-way area just a few minutes' walk from the main docking bays; you don't even feel a bump as he sets it down, soft as a whisper.

BannisAfter you've completed your discreet tour of the spaceport, you've found a few ships that you suspect might be good for blockade running, but you weren't able to determine exactly what their specs might be. However, you did note one freighter that had removed its escape pods and disguised some other module (probably weapons or shields) as its pods to the undiscerning eye, which is a highly illegal modification that usually indicates a profitable smuggler who can afford the larger bribes required to put that one past experienced spaceport inspectors.

If you can pay, I can take you: 3,000 credits a head, half now, half on arrival. First thing's first, though: Are you wanted by the Republic? Don't tell me why, if you are," he says, holding up a hand, "I don't want to know why. Just yes or no. If you are, that'll be an extra 500 a head for the associated risk. If you have codes or slicers or other things that would make it easier to get past the blockade, though, that cancels the extra fee--again, don't care how or why, just yes or no. "Bucket of bolts?" An amused feminine drawl drifts out of the cockpit, followed shortly by a female Human wielding a hydrospanner, goggles on her head and a smirk on her face. "Darling, this 'bucket of bolts' makes those Acclamators in orbit look positively sluggish. The Princess packs a Class 2 hyperdrive, same as an Acclamator's got, and she's got solid enough shields to take a torp up the exhaust without slowing down. She walks over to where Tripp is sitting and leans casually against his seat, her gaze sweeping over to take in everyone, lingering on Sienn and Rhys. "Relax, handsome, we'll get you and your friends to Coruscant in one piece, don't you worry your little heads."

The captain walks past the hatch to the passenger compartment, and without even slowing or looking in he calls out briskly, "No flirting with the cargo, Sephi, you know that. Go back and make sure the other cargo's secured, why don't you." "Right away, Captain. See you later, boys." Sephi stretches, giving everyone a good long look at her, and slinks back out the hatch, which closes behind her. Within ten seconds, the Corellian Princess goes from cold start to liftoff, and fifteen seconds later you're in orbit. "If anyone has an easy way to make it past the blockade, get up to the cockpit now," the captain says over the intercom, and Niner stands. "I'm already breaking all of the rules," he mutters, "what's one more? Although...."

He sits back down again. "I don't mind helping you get past this blockade; it doesn't hurt anyone if I do. But if I use my codes now, they'll probably lock me out and I might not be able to help you later. I'm not trained for naval combat, so I have no idea what this ship's odds are for survival if we have to fight our way out. He pauses and turns to Ekaterina "And you, I understand that you and the order have not always seen eye to eye and we would not blame either of you if you do not want to take part in the upcoming battle." Taking a deep breath he stands up, turns to the whole group and continues "Whatever plan that is already in place or that we devise one thing is certain the place will be heavily guarded. Tripp, Rhys and Arah you three are our best bet in a direct head on assault. Sephi is sitting at a small comm station between the passenger compartment and the cockpit when Arah finds her, and he can hear the voices of her fellow Jedi emanating from a tiny speaker as she arrives. "Well, beautiful, I don't think I can show you around the ship, really," Sephi drawls, "seeing as the captain doesn't like passengers getting a look at what we have back there." She stands and reaches out to turn a dial on the comm station, and the voices coming through the speaker are almost silenced but do not go away completely; you'd have to work to make out any words. "But if you're the technical sort, I can show you what modifications I've made to the shields and hyperdrive. Nothing too illegal there, and a girl has to have a chance to show off sometime."

"Discretion? What, not asking about your names, what you did to make the Republic put a price on your heads, where on Coruscant you're headed, what you lot were doing on the kriffing capital world of the CIS without a ship of your own, and suchlike isn't discreet enough for you? Honey, I'd lower my standards just a bit if I were you." Smiling to show that her comment was meant in jest, Sephi walks over and leans on the bulkhead next to Arah. "Don't worry, I'm not spying on you for the captain. Believe me, if I were telling him what I overheard, you'd know; he's no friend of Jedi--something about his sister a long way back, I gather--and the thought of you going to meet them would just about blow his motivator. I'm just...intrigued. Nine apparent civilians, plain-dressed and shipless, chartering a smuggler to Coruscant to meet with Jedi? Tripp settles down into a what appears to be a lack position against one of the bulkheads and closed his eyes listening to Sienn and Niner talk. The quiet thrum of the engine vibrated in the floor plates, the hum drum whur of machinery was lost to his mind but the regularity and consistency of it helped him focus.

"'The Jedi' won't save anyone if they end up having to fight clones, Sienn there are millions, maybe billions, of clones now, even the combined might of every Jedi in the galaxy they would be snuffed out like a candle in a maelstrom against that many. They would have to strike off the head of the snake that big, this Skywalker you talk of leading this rumored rebellion would be an adequate target for whoever planned to stop what the Republic is becoming."

Tripp spoke with his eyes closed but even then there seemed to be a displeased glare aimed at Sienn at every word he placed emphasis on. They had just worked very hard to pass off this deception they had been very very lucky to achieve what they had so far and the Twi'Lek Forcling was going to sink with his loose lips.

"I don't think the Jedi have too much to worry about," Niner says. "Last I heard, only one legion is stationed on Triple Zero at any one time. The way the handful of you handled my platoon, I bet an entire Temple of Jedi can take just one legion." There is a pause, then, sounding slightly less sure of himself, he adds, "Then again, that 'just one legion' is the 501st. Not exactly an ordinary legion. And Skywalker was given personal command of it. So you may be right to be worried."

He wasted not a moment more gazing at that tumultuous energy before drawing back in on himself and opening his eyes to the ship around him. Sienn and Niner's comments echoed in his thoughts.

"What you are talking about is open war, if the Jedi Temple is under siege then the 501st is at least going toe to toe with the Jedi with Skywalker at its head. The Sith have revealed themselves, they want them to fight to bring open war to the steps of the galactic capital. What better way to turn the galaxy against them than to lay the sacking of Coruscant at their feet. Skywalker is in the open and so is his Master. They strike off the head of the serpent and the body will whither, without the pall of the Dark Side influencing events the Senate should be able to restore peace reign in the Clones. They cannot avoid the needless deaths of thousands when just two will suffice. Think, the Separatists are on the run in the Outer Rim, every available battle group in the Mid Rim and Expansion Region will be called back by Palpatine to crush the Jedi. They cannot afford to think of events in a vaccum, Palpatine took advantage of that very fact of the Jedi when he came to power, and they cannot lay down our charge. Hunted or not, they are still guardians of peace & justice."

The conversation fades into individual musings and meditation, and the passenger compartment is mostly quiet for the next few hours. Niner's durasteel-strong military discipline breaks around the nine-hour mark; his shoulders slump and he makes a few comments about never being this aimless before and always having some other clones to talk to. Arah returns at some point during the long wait; Sephi sent her back so the mechanic could "get into character."

After a nice, relaxing 13-hour trip, you feel the deck plates rattle as the ship falls out of hyperspace and the maneuvering thrusters kick in. The viewport gives you a wonderful view of Coruscant's orbital defense network as the Corellian Princess queues up to pass through the shield. A few minutes pass, then two figures step through the hatch, and it takes you a moment to recognize them as Lec and Sephi. The Rodian has changed out his flight suit for a mechanic's coveralls, and the Human is now sporting a captain's coat with a low-slung blaster at her hip and a prosthetic arm poking out of one of her sleeves. In a falsely-cheery voice, the Human says "Good local afternoon, darlings. I'm Captain Lithgow and this is my second mate Prevak; you met my accountant, Mr. Dorval, earlier in the trip. We hope you enjoyed hitching a ride from the Morobe sector aboard the private freighter Adegan Star, and that you will be happy to tell the Republic inspectors about to board this vessel exactly that."

"Captain Lithgow" drops her fake smile and continues, "We were able to convince them that we're a legitimate freighter who offered a ride to some folks on Talasea who'd had their ship stolen, but we couldn't convince them to let us past the shields without an inspection. Apparently, as of a few days ago every unrecognized freighter has to be inspected before it's let in, and we couldn't protest too much without looking suspicious." The Rodian lets out a chuckle (or what passes for one in a Rodian; he sounds like a Human sneezing) and adds, "Yeah. Sorry, but whatever got you in trouble with the Republic, we'd rather put you in danger than make them suspicious of our ship. Nothing personal." The male Human enters the hatch as well and tosses the new captain a sarcastic salute. "Compartments are sealed, countermeasures are in place, and the boys in white'll be on board in a few minutes. You want to do something about that," he adds to you all, "do it now."

"Dorval" does a double take when he sees Niner's face--Niner kept his face covered when boarding--and curls his lip in disgust. "Might want to fix up that face of yours, too, shiny. I think they'll notice that. Here, come with me, we'll stick you in a smuggling compartment." The Rodian and female Human don't look shocked or disgusted to find they have a clone trooper on board, but they do look curious about the sort of people who would be traveling with one. A clunk reverberates through the ship, and the captain claps her hands and turns to leave. "Places, everyone. Remember: Lithgow, Prevak, Dorval, Talasea, Morobe sector, Adegan Star."

If anyone wants to change up their outfits or do anything else, you have 2 minutes (20 rounds) before the inspection team gets to the passenger compartment. And even if you don't want to do anything, you still have 2 minutes before the inspection team gets there. :smallwink:

The new captain throws Tripp a thumbs-up and leaves the compartment. Off in the distance, there is the clang of docking clamps and the clomping of booted feet on deckplates. Muted conversation drifts through the ship, and soon enough you hear people walking towards you. The captain's loud and boisterous tones echo through the corridors, giving you plenty of warning of their approach. "...didn't ask. They paid half up front, and let me tell you, after one of your clients backs out of a contract, you take any payment you can get to get you back on track....Well, sure, I don't see why not. I mean, the Adegan Star isn't exactly new, but if a shipjacker could get access, they'd snatch her and find a buyer somwhere; if their ship was anything like mine, it could fetch a few thousand on the used-ship market....No, of course we weren't suspicious. It's not as if ship thieves are uncommon in the Colonies, you know."

Captain Lithgow strides into the passenger compartment, followed by two clone troopers in standard armor, bearing the red stripes denoting security troops. Both are armed, but their blaster carbines are held casually at their sides. "These are all the passengers. All of their things are here; we certainly don't have the free space to put it anywhere else! You can talk to...actually, I don't know who's in charge of their team." She shrugs nonchalantly and points at Tripp. "Jom's the one who contacted me about chartering transport, though. Jom, these troopers are doing a routine inspection of the ship, and wanted to ask you and your friends some questions. Now, if you'll excuse me, Troopers, I'll be in the cockpit running some hyperdrive diagnostics. Second Mate Dorval is in the main hold checking on some cargo for our clients; if you have any other questions about our route, you can ask him."

The captain exits the compartment, and one trooper steps over to Tripp while the other stands at attention by the hatch. "Good afternoon, citizen. You are not in trouble or under any suspicion. This is a routine cargo and passenger inspection that all ships entering Coruscant must undergo. Please remain calm and answer our questions as honestly and thoroughly as possible." The clone's voice is as professional as usual, but thanks to your experience with clones you all can detect an undercurrent of boredom as he recites his speech. A quick whispered "It should be...." crackles over the intercom before the passenger compartment returns to silence for ten long, tense minutes. At the end of those minutes, another clone trooper enters the compartment, this one bearing striped officer's armor: Niner, returning to you now that the coast is clear. "Captain Lithgow" enters with him, a shrewd look on her face. She looks at each of you in turn, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "Well, now, darlings, that was certainly an interesting little performance you put on for the nice gentlemen in white. Either I just witnessed the best slicing job I've seen since the Nar Shaddaa Seven hacked the main Banking Clan network, to have come up with fake IDs so fast out of thin air, or...." she draws out the last word and gives Sienn and Rhys very significant glances "...maybe it's a good thing Captain I-Hate-Those-Saber-Swinging-Do-Gooders Varon didn't decide to listen in himself, hmm?"

She flashes a smile and chuckles, as if to reassure you all that your secret is safe with her. "You know, honey, you really should have just told me you were flying below your accustomed level of accommodations," she tells Sienn. "Some of us backwards Rim folks don't mind you folks at all. I'd have broken out a bottle of the good '29 Corellian whiskey and we could have had some fun. Though I hear you folks don't go in for that sort of thing, much. Shame." The sound of booted feet approaching makes its way to your ears; she smiles one last smile, waves her hand in front of her face in a very familiar gesture, and says "You will not reveal us to the captain," following up with "I-will-not-reveal-you-to-the-captain" in a soft and mock-pretentious monotone. She turns to leave, calling over her shoulder, "We make planetfall in fifteen, everyone; strap yourselves in."

Almost precisely fifteen minutes later, the Corellian Princess--or whatever name it's registered under currently--lands in a public docking bay with the hissing of steam and the clunk of landing gear hitting permacrete. The Rodian escorts you to the airlock and down the ramp. "Thank you for flying Smuggler's Hyperlanes," he says with the Rodian equivalent of a smirk. "We hope you will consider us for your future clandestine transportation needs. Tell all your friends about us. Except not really, because if you do we'll have to blast your brains out. Nothing personal. Anyway." He points to the west, drawing your attention to the very tip of the Senate dome that you can see over the spaceport's walls. "In case you don't know your way around, that's the Senate building over there. That way's the consulate district, over there's the museums and stuff, that way's the Jedi Temple, back that-a-way is where all the rich people live, and over there is where the best cantinas and restaurants are--trust me, don't eat over there, those places are tourist traps. If you need to find somewhere else, one of the locals around here can probably direct you. Though they probably won't want to, won't like you, and will try to fleece you for all you're worth. And coming from me, that's saying something. Nasty Core worlders." He turns to reenter the ship, but pauses to say "Oh, we're leaving in 13 Standard hours. You need to talk to us, one of us will be here at all times...but don't hang around, it looks suspicious. Have a nice day." He walks the rest of the way up the ramp, and the hatch seals behind him.

Most of the closer buildings are more utilitarian establishments--stores selling tools and droid parts, refueling stations, used starship rental shops, information and tourism kiosks, and so forth. There is one cantina close by in the direction the Rodian indicated as having good restaurants, though: The Dewback Inn. A faded old sign bearing a rampant dewback hangs over the dimly-lit entrance, and as you pass into the dingy, ill-lit interior of the cantina, none of you can recall ever seeing a less reputable-looking cantina during your many travels. What you can smell of the food is certainly appetizing, though, so perhaps Master Kenobi's mantra "Your eyes can deceive you; don't trust them" is applicable here. There aren't many customers in attendance, but every sentient in the room looks like he or she or it has seen their share of combat. In one corner sits a Devaronian with one horn missing, a piebald Wookiee with half her hair singed off is nursing a drink at the bar, and pair of scarred Sullustans are eating in a private booth.

The occupants turn to look at you when you enter, but the mood in the air is one of apathy rather than suspicious or violence, and they turn back to their drinks and meals. Chancellor gave some sorta important speech, then Master Windu came in with a chopped-off hand an' said he was a kriffin' liar, then they arrested Windu and now there's a whole buncha political wranglin' goin' on in the Senate over what to do with the Jedi." He plunks everyone's drinks down on the bar and goes back to cleaning his glass. "Like I said, business as usual." Niner takes a sip of his ale to conceal a grimace at the characterization of fellow clones as "laser-brained bucketheads."

While the bartender explains the situation, Bannis's comlink beeps. A muted chirp in Binary lets him know R2-M6 is still in one piece, then a series of text transmissions appear on his comm's small screen.
"Master! You've returned!"
"We didn't think you'd make it."
"Clone troopers almost made it to the hangar."
"They were stopped just in time."
"All the droids and ships are here and safe."
"Except R2-G63, it was outside the hangar."
"It locked the hangar and sounded the alarm."
"And except for R2-D2 and its Actis Eta-2."
"Master Skywalker left right after the clones."
"No one else has gone in or out since."

We know the temple got raided. How did the jedi fare? Is the council still intact? Do they have a plan to escape? How many jedi still need to be evacuated?

The questions were racing through his mind a mile a minute before he calmed himself.

Arah scowls darkly at the news of Windu's arrest. Her relationship with her master's master had been a strange one but she continued to consider him, if not foremost on the council, than the first among equals. Her first thought is to reach out to him in the force and attempt to determine where he is being hidden, but if the Sith have returned that could have unforeseen consequences and the Force has more subtle uses.

Arah searches her feelings to determine what would happen if she telepathically reached out for Windu.

The bartender shrugs apathetically. "The clones're sittin' 'round the Temple still, so far's I heard. Rumor has it the official orders are to shoot any Jedi what tries to run for it--like any Jedi'd run away from a fight--and just sit 'round until they get 'nother set o' orders. Wouldn't be surprised if th' Fleet's been ordered to be ready to blast the Temple an' any Jedi ships they see, but they ain't done it yet. My guess is they're gonna try to pump Windu for as much intel as they can before doin' anythin' stupid...good luck wit' that." At the mention of Master Windu, Arah feels a reassuring nudge from the Force; it shouldn't be dangerous to attempt to contact him. The rest of the cantina's patrons have gone back to their meals and are ignoring you and your conversation, though Rhys notices that the Devaronian is eyeing Bannis near the door in a manner suggesting that were Bannis anyone other than a Jedi Master he might be in danger of being robbed.

R2-M6 tweets an acknowledgment of Bannis's last order, and he can hear a little clunk-whir as the astromech hops out of his starfighter, extends its third wheel, and trundles off.
"The Council is busy, but I will try to find a free Master."
"Several Padawans and one Knight were killed."
"The rest of the Jedi are safe and the Temple is sealed."
"There are over 4,000 Jedi and Temple workers here currently."
"The four Council members here are safe, and are planning to evacuate."
"The Fleet is a major obstacle to evacuation; no one has left yet."
"Master Kenobi is here; one moment, Master Vookto."
There is a short pause, and Bannis can hear an agitated voice in the background.
"Master Kenobi is headed to Mustafar and cannot talk now."
"The Council believes starfighters may be able to escape the planet."
"I will attempt to find another Master."
"Master Kenobi also said the clones have been preparing signal jammers."
"Your comm may be cut off at any--"
The comlink erupts in a burst of static and the screen goes blank.

The bar patrons think better of trying anything funny, and you all exit the bar in one piece and unmolested. When you pass through the doorway, ahead and to your left you can see a tall tower with an oblong top and many bulbous protrusions blocking the light from the afternoon sun. Tripp recalls that this building is the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center (http://starwars.wikia.com/index.php?title=Republic_Judiciary_Central_Detenti on_Center&image=Republic_Judiciary_Central_Detention_Center-jpg), where all of the most important and/or dangerous criminals on Coruscant are held.

I just got off the comm with my droid. The temple has fared better than we thought. There have only been a few casualties. I think we have time as a with lord would want to save the archives. I think we need allies and breaking one out of a detention block sounds better to me. After all we are Jedi Masters if they expect us to do something they should know that we would figure that out and expect us to do something else, then we just do what they expected in the first place. The presence of the Dark Side is strong and with so much background conflict at the Temple we should be invisible in the Force as a fly to a dewback. Master Windu would be a powerful force to have on our side. I'm going to free him, the rest of you can come if you want."

As Tripp approaches the tourists, he gets the impression that there are three notable Force presences in the prison, all clumped fairly close together. One is the familiar presence of Master Windu and the other two are presences which are somewhat familiar but that Tripp can't put a name to. The tourists give Tripp a good long appraising look as the tall and handsome Jedi Master approaches them. They tell him that they aren't all that familiar with the area, but they do know of one good hotel nearby; Tripp returns to the other Masters with one hotel address, two comm frequencies, and an invitation to dinner.

Arah receives a pulse of emotion through the Force from Master Windu--he is angry, annoyed, and in great pain. She receives a momentary sending from him which appears to be a vision of what Master Windu is currently seeing: a trio of clone troopers seen through the bars of a prison cell, each holding a heavy weapon of some sort. A few moments later, she receives another short vision, this one of Master Windu looking down at himself, revealing that he is still missing his right arm, that he has suffered numerous small wounds that have not been treated...and that he is floating in what appears to be a Geonosian containment field (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Containment_field).

The proprietor of the Dewback Inn is more than happy to give you a private room...or rather, when you return he grunts noncommittally and jerks a thumb towards a door to the back, but it's the thought that counts.

There is a small vidscreen on the wall of the back room, and though it's definitely seen better days--and those days were probably back during the Great Sith War--the image it shows of the Senate rotunda is relatively clear. A Bith reporter is interviewing a Quarren senator about an upcoming speech of Palpatine's, according to the subtitles; the Quarren is prattling on and on and on, but once you parse the political-ese into Basic you determine that the Senator's main point is essentially "There's a group of 2000 Senators presenting some sort of 'Petition of Two Thousand' tomorrow morning that would have Palpatine give up his emergency wartime powers, but Palpatine wants to go after the Jedi and claims he can't give up his powers until the traitors are wiped out, and everyone's yelling at each other about that at the moment."

With that little bit of business completed Tripp moved over to the wall computer and downloaded his entire savings from his account to third party account under a false identity so he could draw funds without being identified as a Jedi.

At Bannis's pronouncement, Varon's face clouds over and his lips twist into an expression of extreme disgust. Sephi discreetly scoots her chair a few inches away from him as he clenches his fists. "When you're sure we're all on the same side? The same side? If you think I'd ever be on the same side as a sanctimonious saber-up-the-ass do-gooder who sticks his kriffing nose in everyone else's kriffing business, think again, nerf-for-brains." The Human jabs a finger at Bannis with every word, his voice growing louder. "You think you're better than everyone else just because you can move a droid with your mind, and look where it's got you! You had to lie to a lowly smuggler to get your wanted asses off Cato Nemoidia--so much for that kriffing moral superiority, huh? And it's your fault, anyway, I saw the news feeds, you kriffing backstabbing lunatics. We stick you in a position of power and you thank us by trying to off the Human who tries to stop you from grabbing even more of it!"

Varon turns to Sephi, who is wearing her best I-didn't-do-anything-wrong expression. "And you! You knew these scumbags were on our ship! You know how I feel about that slime! No, don't try to deny it, I'm sure you were trying to get into their pants the whole trip--except, oh, that's right, the Jedi are 'above mundane attachments' like that. Maybe they should scrap that part of their code, maybe then they'd loosen up and get their kriffing heads out of orbit and back into the real world." Under his breath, in a tone of voice that implies it wasn't meant to be heard, he adds resentfully, "And maybe then they wouldn't go around stealing peoples' younglings...."

Sephi rises from her chair and tentatively places an arm around Varon's shoulder. "Look, Cyrus," she says in a low voice, "you should really--" "Don't tell me what I should or shouldn't say or believe." Sephi sighs. "Fine. Look, let's...let's talk about this. Outside?" "Fine." Varon sweeps his gaze around the room. "Don't any of you bastards even think of trying anything." The door slams shut as the two head out to the bar to get a drink. Niner looks to be completely out of his depth here, looking between the Jedi hater and those who have served as his moral center for months. As the sound of the slamming door dies away, he tries to lighten the mood: "Well, uh, at least he's found someone he insults more than me, huh?" The clone isn't accustomed to humor, giving or receiving, and after clearing his throat awkwardly he lapses into silence, still standing at attention.

Ten minutes later, the two smugglers return to the room. Varon seems less angry, but only mildly so, and Sephi seems frustrated. "So. Here's the deal. Take it or leave it, no negotiating. We'll help you, but only half of you on the ship at any one time, plus the clone, to prevent any funny business...and our fee is tripled to cover the cleaning fees to get the stench out of the ship once we're done with you," Varon sneers. "Deal?"

Bannis sighs. this wasn't going to be easy. Out of all the smugglers in the galaxy the force had led them to work with this one.

Its a deal captain. and you will be happy to note that my plan involves none of us save niner ever setting foot on your ship. Here goes: We are going to divide into three groups. Niner. I need you to go with the captain and sephi. ou guys are going to find the closest hanger you can to the blockaded jedi temple. We need you prepped and ready to go on a moments notice.

While this is happening I am going to take the padawans and make our way through the secret accessways into the temple through the sewers. Once we get in we are going to link up with the council and begin the evacuation. I will take whatever jedi and temple marines volunteer and spend our time modifying a whatever ships we have in the temple to be ready for battle.

While we are doing this the rest of you have three jobs. The first is we need several safehouses set up to house as many jedi as possible for the short term. We need to scatter. as much as possible. Your second job is to prepare for the assault on the prison. You need to find out what is guarding master windu, what traps are set up on the way, and if anyone else worth rescuing is in the prison.Your third job is going to be to find someone trustworthy in the news media and tip them off about our plan so there is full coverage of palpatines response.

When we are all ready we all move as one. Our padawans will lead the council out of the temple to the captain here who will bring them off world. He will not attract much attention because if my plan works the entire republic fleet will be on us.

You will attack the prison, carefully avoiding the deaths of any non clones if possible. Your primary objective will be to shut down the anti air defenses. You will inevtiably fall into whatever trap palpatine has set. This is where I come in. At the moment you attack the prison, we will stage a false breakout mission. I will take all the volunteers I have and fly out of the temple with whatever ships we have the manpower to take with us. The lot of us will scatter and do what we can to get off planet. our ships are fast enough where this will be possible. While the clones are divided I will fly to the prison and land, dropping whatever reinforcements I can bring with me. We will have them hit from two sides, and will break you out and fly you out.

At that point all we have to do is break through the naval blockade and make the jump to lightspeed. We should make for naboo. Senator amidala has always favored us and naboo has its own navy and ground forces. Palpatine may even hesitate to attack his home planet.

The trick to winning over the public... during my flight from the temple to the prison, I will not fire a shot. Likewise the other jedi will not fire until we are out of atmosphere. This will minimize civilian casualties while palpatine will call in whatever resources he can to stop us. We will have videos of him drastically overusing military resources and endangering civilians on the holonet long before we reach safety. Then we can focus on getting the remaining jedi off planet at whatever pace will go unnoticed.

It might be better to have the council use more than just one ship, in the spirit of spreading our strength. But, what of the other jedi, padawans and even the younglings? One transport isn't going to be enough to evacuate all of them and I think we all agree that the safety of the defenceless is paramount. I am sure the council will be loathe to leave the temple. Perhaps the Captain here should transport the young ones?

I will volunteer to go in to get master Windu and I think you are correct in that we need to do these things with as few casualties as possible. Perhaps a training lightsaber would make that a little easier to complete.

I think there is a fourth avenue we need to consider, and that is looking for support in the senate to dispose the supreme chancellor by legitimate means. Perhaps we should make contact with some of the sympathetic senators, Amidala you mention, Senator Organa perhaps as well?

Once we have many of the jedi out of the temple and secured in safe houses, how do we plan to get them off planet as well? The blockade running you talk about seems to originate from the temple hangers, wit hthe jedi gone, how do they get transports?"

You are correct we do not have a lot to work with. Right now all we have to work with are the good captain here, and all the ships in the hanger. The ships in the hanger will be flagged and targeted by the navy the instant they leave the hanger. That makes them unsuitable for transport. I want to get our most influential members off planet first so they can oversee getting everyone else off. Without the council being secure we might as well be throwing the younglings to a nexu den. I think you misunderstand my plan though. When this is all completed not one person will be left inside the temple. We need to make sure everyone we cant get off planet winds up in safe houses around coruscant. Getting them off planet will not be easy and will take a lot of time but this is a necessary evil. If we are lucky as soon as we leave palpatine will just bombard the tower which will give us a few weeks before anyone realizes it was completely evacuated. WHile this is going on, I agree that at least one of us should go to the senate. Right now we need to find a place to hide everyone in the jedi temple

Tripp didn't quite grown when Bannis started speaking but it was a near thing, his right hand stroked his lightsaber watching the smuggler's reaction. He didn't like the idea of killing innocents but things were perilously close to coming completely undone. At the outburst he almost called on the Force against Varon. He put his head against the wall and tried to let go of the dark feelings.

"What makes you think the Council will leave? They are a prickly lot and they won't tolerate being chased from a fight when they have already established a stalemate. We need to do something more decisive. Right now they have the upper hand in Soldiers, Public Opinion, and the Senate. We need decisive action to change that, freeing Mace will help us start that I'm for that. Seplhi's ship is supposed to get us close enough overhead then we can freefall onto the facility and enter from above, we secure Master Windu then retreat back out the top after which we get picked up by her and Varon gets us out of there switching his transponders until we get clear."

How you attack the facility is up to you. If you want to drop down onto it, then you should come with me to the temple and we can use my ship for the assault and extraction. Im going to need the support of whatever ships we have in the hanger to be able to stay in the sky though. I still think the captain should be the one to evacuate the jedi from the temple. If the council will not retreat they will definately agree to get someone off planet. I am fairly sure I can convince the council to go along with this plan once I am in the temple.

"Your arrogance is as staggering as Skywalker's! Convince the Council? Did you grow Ekartina's silver tongue? Rhys, Arah what do you think?"

Tripp spoke to Bannis blithely he just couldn't see how they would possibly sneak into Temple amazing pilot or not they would be swarmed.

To the human eye, the duros would look unaffected by this. Banns however was fuming.
If the council won't open their eyes long enough to realize they are going down with a sinking ship I will get anyone out who will. We need to act before Palpaine bombards the temple into dust. Breaking out master windu may be just the provocation palpatine is looking for. However you decide to attack the prison is your own concern, but I am going to try to get everyone out that I can

Banns calms himself. They would never succeed if they also turned on eachother. The plan was a long shot at best
we should also try to drAin the Jedi bank accounts before they manage to freeze our assets

"Both of you calm down. I agree that we need to break out Master Windu and the children in the temple must be brought to safety but if we are going to do anything with or through the council our best bet is to contact Master Yoda as soon as we get inside the temple."

Temple communications have been cut. Once we are in the temple we are cut off.

Tripp dropped his hands from his face and looked at the room.

"Look we are Jedi Masters, in the old days one of us enforced the peace in an entire sector. We split our efforts. Bannis leads the effort to rescue as many of the Younglings and the Council as possible. Forgive me but you are right we have no idea when Palpatine will result to bombardment. Myself and Master Arah break into the prison and free Master Windu. The three of us then confront the Chancellor and remove him from power. Once the Council and others have been made safe Bannis takes whatever Knights are left and follows after us.

Its a simple, Palpatine has massive resources but he has to tightly focus all those affects against a Jedi threat. If we strike in two places at once we'll force them to split their effort and it should make the day easier to win for all of us. With Palpatine removed the Council can assume control of the government and cease the war then we turn this mess back over to the Senate and let them sort it out."

Tripp looked around and took a sip from the thumb full of whiskey he poured himself before offering classes to others with a wave of his hand they floated across the room to sit in front of everyone.

"Questions?"

Bannis looks down with dismay for a moment,

Technically im still just a knight...

He perks back up

Lets try and keep the plan to one straightforward objective. We need to get out as many people as possible. Lets leave palpatine for another day. We are pushing our luck enough even hoping to get out of whatever trap palpatine has planned at the prison. We will come for palpatine but for now let your objective be just getting master windu out of prison and to the roof so I can fly us out. There are still two holes in my plan I havnt figured out. Palpatine has the temple under a communications blackout so We need to find a way to coordinate the attack without commlinks. The other part We need to figure out befoer we attack is where we are going to hide those we cant get off planet until we can figure that part out. We don't have enough safehouses for everyone. And while we are trying to figure out how many we can save, captain how many can you fit on your ship if the trip is from here to naboo?

Bannis looks down at the drinks on the table. Until now he had stuck to the jedi code and had abstained from alcohol. But now that he was about to run a naval blockade the idea of whatever was in that glass didnt really seem that dangerous compared to antiaircraft fire. He reaches down and takes a big gulp whiskey, almost gagging on the drink.

Tripp looked at Bannis a brief snort escaped his lips. The Code was weary of attachments it was not an oath of chastity or abstinence.

"And how do we navigate a blockade of hundreds with only one or two ships? Naboo was the world Palpatine was raised to Senator from originally I doubt we will find succor there. If we only save forty perhaps if we are ingenious about where stuff them in Captain Varon's ship and yours, which we have not attained yet, it will be the end of the Order. Ten, twenty, thirty, if we only save so few we are undone. Whether by years, Palpatine, or simple diaspora the Order will cease to be if we sacrifice everyone here for a pithy few. We can stop this here, we will stop this here, I will stop this here."

Tripp rose as he spoke he looked around the room. Something dark etched his eyes, strain beyond seeing, there was a hardness in the Master that was grinding away those last chips of humor. Perhaps it was the lack of food or the brief sleep but menace seemed to hang around Tripp like a cloak.

"You are not my apprentice Bannis, lest I would of brought you to heel now but your plan is youthful hope and too much is riding on this. I won't stand in your way, you will be a useful distraction. But do not stop me anyone who cares to follow me lets go."

The chiseled features of the Jedi Master regarded Niner and Sephi a brief moment of expectation or desire flickered across his gray eyes. The set of his shoulders and pronounced stride in his step made it clear imminent violence might be visited on someone in his way. At the door his final parting words were,

"I will do what must be done."

Don't be an idiot. Palpatine managed to defeat windu and he is the best swordsman in the order. Now even if you can get to Palpatine he will be backed by a contingent of senate commandos. Your going to die and for what?

Bannis sighs
We will stop Palpatine, but we need to get the order out first. Maybe we can get a large enough transport for everyone. If the navy is focused on us, maybe hey will ignore the transport. As for getting us off planet, don't worry, I have a plan for that. Running blockades is exatly what my ship was designed for

"Let's not be hasty, master Aeron. For any of this to work we need to be coordinated. An assault on the prison, without some form of explanation to the media or the senate can only play into thecsupreme chancellor's hands. It would be too damaging to the Jedi position.

As to convincing the council to abandon the temple, that may be a tough sell, but I am certain they will want to move the younglings and that alone has merit.

I am happy to accompany you to free master Windu, but we should not be reckless."
