DFA's can get pretty high knowedge checks with the +6 invocation, the feat that adds +1/Draconic Feat and the fact that all they really need in high Con (and can have Int as a secondary). They also have all knowledge skills as class skills.

Knowledge Devotion adds to damage rolls, so does this mean it works on damage rolls that do not require an attack roll?

And, is it even worth it to go for the Knowledge Devotion angle and a DFA?

Pretty sure Knowledge Devotion only works on attacks that require a to hit roll, so no breath weapons etc.

It's probably only worthwhile for a DFA is you plan on getting into melee or using missile weapons often.

However, if you UMD wands or similar with spells that require attack rolls (Melf's Acid Arrow, Scorching ray etc.), then you should get the to hit and damage bonus on those rolls.

Actually, just re-read the feat, and it's not so clear if the damage bonus only applies on attacks with rolls...

We recently had a discussion of when KD applies and doesn't apply here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192778). You can possibly read it to affect the breath weapon, but most of us agreed it didn't.

Thank you, that's helpful.
