Trying to make a PrC that's focused on throwing around sharp bits of metal with maaaagic. Think these:

I was thinking "Shrapnel Scion", but it sounds like a Call of Duty/Guitar Hero crossover. Someone suggested Razormind, but I'm not sold on it. Anyone have ideas?

I'd suggest: Lord of Steel, Shrapnel Psyche, or Debris Dancer. How do those sound?

When you say flinging bits of shrapnel with magic, I think of obsidian something... because, naturally occurring glass + volcanic explosions... somehow that's related to magic to me.
So, as a name, Obsidian X, where X is another word that fits with your prestige class.
Or, go with the Nahuatl word for obsidian, Itzli, and you could end up with something like Itzli Invoker or..hopefully something better along those lines.
In the flavor text, have Itzli be some sort of fantasy metal, like mithril, and give it a history

Blade Empath (sword + empathy), Knight of the Steel Dance (steel for swords + dance for dancing weapons.. Ooh, hoo! So tricky!)

Steelstorm Magus
Iron Galebringer

*note that if any of my suggested names are used for a d20r class which one day sees publication, I do reserve the right to use these names for my own creations, if I choose to do so at a later date.

Ooh, I like Iron Galebringer. That gets my vote.

Iron Galebringer is awesome, but I am going to rob Begooler and make it Obsidian Galebringer, and have it be shards of volcanic glass. Awesoooooome.

Approved. Plus, this leaves the name "Iron Galebringer" unused...*begins to plot*

I recommend for this (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=189224), maybe?

Steel Wind comes to my mind, though it's not very PrC sounding... Steel Maelstrom?

Blade Wind Adept is what comes to mind for me, with Iron Blizzard as a technique.

(Love me some Dom3 even if I suck at it.)

Perhaps I misunderstand you...but this response confused the HECK out of me. Am I just getting the context wrong?

I tried something very similar to this a while back (shards made of solid magic rather than actual metal) and simply called it the Monsoon.
