Summoning and Advanced Creatures

So....... I read the Summon Monster and Summon Nature's Ally readings, and I was wondering..... although it does give sizes for several of the monsters, does it prohibit the summoning of creatures advanced to still fit the descriptions of the summons? For example, a 39 HD Gargantuan Fiendish Monstrous Scorpion for Summon Monster IX?

I'm afraid I don't have a link to the specific rule, but summoned monsters are always normal creatures of their type. So no, you may not use Summon Monster I to summon an advanced Celestial Half-Dragon Paragon Ghost Monkey with 20 levels of Paladin. You just get the basic creature, a 1HD Celestial Monkey (for Summon Monster I) or a 20HD Fiendish Monstrous Scorpion (for Summon Monster IX).
