Is there a spell for altering the subject's alignment, e.g. from Lawful to Chaotic?

If there isn't, I'll just make something up. :)

Probably wish or miracle?

If the character wants its alignment changed back to what it was, atonement.

Otherwise, what's the spell requirement for the helm of opposite alignment? I don't have my books with me.

Sanctify the Wicked (Book of Exalted Deeds), Morality Undone (Book of Vile Darkness) and Mindrape (Book of Vile Darkness) can all do the job.

Of these three, only Mindrape allows you to actually pick the new alignment, however.

EDIT:

Otherwise, what's the spell requirement for the helm of opposite alignment? I don't have my books with me.
There isn't a spell requirement on it.

I think Programmed Amnesia (SpC) can do it, in addition to the BoED and BoVD stuff. In Core, Atonement can change your alignment, but the target needs to be willing as well as being able to change alignment naturally and it can only change to the same alignment as the caster. Also doesn't work on Outsiders.

There's a ritual in Savage Species that can give you an alignment subtype- and has a chance (if you fail a Will Save by so much) of changing your alignment as well.
