I am new to this website, so I naturally have some questions about how the forums work. If I have a homebrew idea for HackMaster of AD&D 1st edition, do I put it under the Homebrew board or the Older D&D/AD&D and Other Games board?

I would put it in the Homebrew board. The "homebrew" characteristic overrides the edition type.
The Roleplaying subforum is more for discussion rather than creation.

Yes, all homebrew in the homebrew forum please (except wold-building, which goes into the world-building sub-section of the homebrew forum).

But unless it's 3rd. Edition D&D, you should include the game system in the thread title to avoid misunderstandings.
