View Full Version : Need Build Advice

I'm working on a summoner build (Not the PF class, as this is 3.5) for the Arena here on these forums and could use some help. There are a few things I'd like to get some specific advice on:

1. What class should I use? Druid, Wizard, or something else?

2. Should I stick with human, or is there anything better?

3. Feat Selection I have 3 to work with, (1st and 2 Flaws) what should I go for?

4. Permanent Companions (i.e. Soulspark Familiar) Are there any I can get with feats/ACF's?

5. Boosting Summoning Durations and lowering casting time A metamagic reducer would be great for this, but are there any a 1st level Druid or Wizard could use?

Note: The Arena does not extend past level 3 at present time, so anything past there is sort of irrelevant. Sorry for not letting you know.

1. Probably Druid
2. Probably human.
3. Try Spell Focus (Conjuration), Augment Summoning, and Greenbound Summoning.
4. Natural Cohort and Obtain Familiar spring to mind.

What sort of things do you want to summon? I know there's a Wizard prestige class with epic summoning ability (name not springing to mind right now).

Alternatively, if you know you're going to focus pretty exclusively in a particular type of magic, Sorceror may be the way to go.

Updated OP. Oh, and Greenbound Summoning is banned. By the way, where do I find Natural Cohort? I think you meant Wild Cohort. Looking at it now.

I suggest a Conjurer with the Cloudy Conjuration feat. Cloud of sickening gas now free with every conjuration!:smallbiggrin:

Also, taking the focused specialist alternative class feature gives you a large number of summonings ready for you to use.

Strongheart Halfling Wizard, Focused Specialist, Abrupt Jaunt.

Spell Focus (Conjuration), Cloudy Conjuration, Augment Summoning, Rapid Summoning (or whatever the feat is that does that. Memory fails me at the moment.)
