Hello, my name is Squareman97. I am best known for being a n00b, a nice guy that is easily angered and turned into not a nice guy, and for a thread that I posted that disregarded forum rules. I am very sorry. That was a very bad day for me, and I didn't follow forum rules. I am usually the one that urges people to follow the rules on the internet, and I feel very bad about breaking them, and I feel like a hypocritical moron. I will try my best to do better in the future, and I am terribly sorry about my rant. Please forgive me. Thank you.

I have no idea what you're talking about, and I'm sure most people on these forums don't have either. However, skimming through your post history (which wasn't very arduous, post more!), I still don't see anything particularly apology-worthy.

It's not like you posted a whole bunch of amusing pictures on a funny pictures thread, only for all of them to turn into hardcore gay porn just because you forgot about a little thing called hotlinking. Which is pretty much what I did once, though not on these forums. :smalltongue:

Anyway, I think you're clean.

Hey, we all have our moments. That's what the Random Banter thread is for. :smalltongue:

Wait, what?

Wait, what?

If I'm not mistaken, it's possible for a site to detect when an image of their's is being hotlinked on another site and to automatically redirect that hotlink to another page or image, or something along those lines. If not that, I know that changing the image that was hotlinked on the original site changes it where ever it was hotlinked as well. A particular cynical person on the original site might swap a SFW picture for a decidedly NSFW to mess with/spoosh off people hotlinking their pictures.

I remember a particular good example when an anti-gay website hotlinked an image on(I think, but I'm really not sure) Enter The Jabberwock, taking it out of context as support for their homophobia. Que the owner of the original site replacing the image(with some work-around that didn't change it on his site) with a gay-pride poster with a quote about treating everyone equal. Brilliant:smallbiggrin:. Gah, I wish I could find it again... >_>

SMBC and NOM were the folks in on that one.

You're forgiven. Also, don't bring up religion on these forums. It gets you branded.

Forgiveness is something weird.

If you need it you don't deserve it. And if you get it, you didn't needed it.

That first part is true, but the second part isn't.

Care to explain that to me?

because I see the second part as the logical conclusion of the first part.

Forgiveness is only meaningful when you get it even though you don't deserve it. That's the whole point of forgiveness.

Don't worry, Squareman, we don't hold grudges on something like that.

You know, I've never heard of this happening (aside from the already posted SMBC case), but I've always known it COULD be done, so I never hotlink anything that's not hosted on my photobucket account. :smalltongue: Or at least a well-known safe site.

Right okay thanks

Like I said I didn't got it, so thanks for explaining to me

Nobody besides you and the mods can see how many infractions you have or why you got them. You don't have to feel like a pariah because you got an infraction or something, just avoid doing it again.

And Squareman, don't worry about it. I don't know about everybody else, but I certainly forgive you. We all make mistakes.

We all have our bad moments, and we learn from them. C'est la vie. The GitP crowd is made up of great, accepting folk that aren't going to hold a grudge. Don't worry about it. :smallwink:
