Yeah, well, the question needs to be elaborated.

Are you talking about Omicron from Transformers? Or maybe Galacticus from the Fantastic Four movie?

The short answer; yes. Elder Evils has a monster that does exactly that (Atropus). Galactimus would be pleased!

it doesn't so much eat the planet, as kill everything on it via its negative energy field.

Still, pretty close.

I got confused. Plant creatures, not planet. I`ll go change the title.

So, your question is...what?

Are you arguing the morality of eating sentient plant creatures? Like, making a nice myconid stew or something?

I guess the answer would be "the polite races discourage it", and that would be about it. It wouldn't be any different from elves eating fallen orc warriors (or hunting orc warriors for food). Polite races generally don't do it, while savage races often do.

the none-sentient ones sure, the sentient (by which I mean sapient ones) would probably be out of bounds. Though I now have a terrific idea for how to make Elves freakishly evil without have them be anti-human.

Yea, my bad. I said sentient but ment sapient.

Myconid...the other other other other other other other other white...meat?

But Galactor's name is serious business!

I think Galactatron sounds better. Rolls of the tounge!

...This thread is rapidly devolving.

Eh, what the hell. It's being eaten by Galactorokukirutron.

On topic, you might want to look at some old 2e MM as they might have included stuff like this in their ecology sections but I don't know off the top of my head. It would be interesting to figure out how animate plants work into the ecology of a world and tropic levels.

Also everybody is going on about Galactus, but nobody mentioned Omicron, we got one person to bold it and that's the best?

It's Unicron :smallfurious: (nerdrage finished).

My God what have I unleased! And you to the Galacster that started this thread, I believe you have a rather original idea there.

...Unicorn?

The ginormous transformer which ate planets in the 1986 transformers movie, Unicron. It had Eric Idle (Spamalot), Leonard Nimoy, and Orson Welles providing some of the voice talents.

Last I saw, a used Unicron with the box, went for about 150$.

And it can be found in polymer form (galatan) in hemicellulose!

Yannow, part of the stuff that plants are made out of.

Wee!

I know. I was joking.
