May or may not have something to do with Anon and or trying to fix a exploit problem.

Basically, it'll blow over in a week or so.

It' probably Anonymous. Sony took down PSN and are re-building (or re-coding, or whatever) PSN so that this doesn't happen again. Latest news is that Japan should have it up tomorrow, and the US (hoping this includes the rest of North America) the day after. No idea when the rest of the world is getting their PSN back, though...

Anonymous?

Yeah, you know, "We are legion. We do not forgive, we do not forget."

4chan users. Well, that's where they started at least... they're kind of their own thing now.

Guy Fawkes mask wearing people internet terrorists/group that does good things but in bad ways.

Basically, probably every "no talking about it" rule combined together.

Whatever it is, it apparently isn't Anonymous' doing (http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2011/04/sony-admit-outside-influence-has-downed-psn/).

Also, this should be in the Gaming (Other) section.

Well, it could be. It just means that those particular Anons didn't do it.

The problem with a nameless faceless orderless organization is that they are capable of the most good and most evil.

Apparently it's been fixed, by the way.

yeah, from what i've learned, each anon is completely autonomous, as anarchic lack of leadership is one of their ism's apparently. so it's entirely possible.

And now Sony has confirmed that personal information has been stolen. (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/26/update-on-playstation-network-and-qriocity/)

Anyone who has a credit card information on the PSN, it is advisable to request a new card / number from your financial institution.

Personal data's been compromised - keep an eye on your charges and make sure none are unexplainable.

Told my dad about it, odds are he's going to do it sometime soon.

I guess I'll change my PSN password now... Oh wait! I can't!

As tempting as it is to sit on my ivory tower of Xbox smugness, I really have to wonder how Sony dropped the ball so incredibly on this one.

Man, no they absolutely do not. Those people should be prosecuted.

Anyway, since I can't cancel or use my subscriptions I just had my bank block all card charges to Sony until it is up and I can do so myself.

i agree. even if there are 70 mil psn users and the odds of being singled out are slim, i still feel uncomfortable that there is a chance to begin with. i'm gonna use this advice.

We got all cards used on PSN cancelled. Cause these people aren't going to be using them on PSN. Also, apparently some guy called Mathieulh did it.

EDIT: I checked the other thread. Interpol's on the case. Also six sentences of this type of fraud gets you life in jail. These people frauded millions...

Ahh no. Thats useless. You need to inform your bank which of your cards you used on psn and may have been compromised so they can block charges and send you new cards.

No, they have done good in the past, they tracked down that girl that threw puppies into a river a few months back.

It's real hit-and-miss, but they do good things from time to time, usually via the wrong methods, but still.
