Working on something and want some feedback on it so far. I just have it in black and white so I can figure out tones and shadows. It's supposed to be a humanoid made out of mud. He's holding a staff which I need to edit.

the hand looks likes its 6 fingers, every one of them a dual self opposing thumb set, yes?

I would look up clayface for some good stuff.

I personally think it rather good maybe showing off that he is made of mud. He looks quite a bit more like stone up on the torso but the feet look very much like a mud man's would

I'm going to add another layer of dripping ooze coming off him and them add a layer to color him. I'll also import some textures over him.

actually, i preffered the other fingers, it was very cool, and if you could make your hand the way you want it, a very efficient hand for grasping and power.

I still have to make the staff look more like gold.

Remember that color is more than just a flat hue over your grisaille.

He does look quite muddy though, which is good.

How do you mean?

It looks like he is holding it an impossible way.

his hand is flat to the perspective of the viewer, so the gun is being held in such a way as for us to see the side. but the stock then bends back and nestles in the crook of his arm. Its a very mc escheresque gun.

What you'd usually see with a gun stock is that it would be in front of the forearm as viewed from that angle and holding it like that.

I like the mudman, but I think that the orb of the staff being a different color would really make it pop.

In any case, both good pieces.

Color and texture definitely helped the mud man. I think the drippy mud looks too much like vegetation hanging off him- like vines or something. Or it makes him look too wet- too drippy. Just my opinion. He looks pretty darn good though.

Does the street soldier guy live in upper Siberia? He seems to have enough clothes to make an polar explorer feel uncomfortably warm. :smallwink:

His head seems a bit too small even for bulky clothes, but otherwise he's quite good, I must say.
