It becomes an ineffective weapon. See here (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#weaponSize).

could it still deliver a dose of poison?

Contact poison, yes. Injury poison requires an injury.

Isn't it kind of strange that a fine greatsword still does 1d4 points of damage? You could kill commoners easily with something the size of a toothpick.

Most Fine creatures are going to come with a strength penalty, likely one big enough to make it a flat 1 damage anyway.

I assume that a fine greatsword is the size of a small dagger, so yeah.

But if the weapon deals no damage, what happens if a fine creature attacks another fine creature with a fine dagger?
Why should it be inefficient in such a case?
And why does a diminutive still deal 1 Dmg to colossal creatures?
The difference between them is even more significant than between fine and medium.
I smell a place for houserules.

The greatsword would be one step smaller than the dagger, actually. It's ("generally") one size category per handedness step.

It's simply too small to accomplish anything. Fine creatures apparently need to use weapons that are at least one-handed to do any real damage. Something smaller might be capable of breaking skin, but that doesn't necessarily result in hit point loss.

And why does a diminutive still deal 1 Dmg to colossal creatures?
One point of damage won't amount to much for most colossal creatures, and certainly won't bring them down in any hurry.

Most colossal creatures have DR anyway, don't they?

Somewhere around half, judging by results for "colossal" versus results for "colossal 'damage reduction'" when searching the d20srd monster entries.
