Reviving Legends: A Pokemon RP (IC)

The sun shone brightly on the outskirts of Pallet Town as you arrive by bus with the others summoned to Professor Oak's lab. The notes read urgent but little else and your mind wonders what the trouble could be.

Ryan looks around, taking in the scenery of Pallet Town. Pulling out the note he received from Professor Oak, he reads it one last time, then folds it and puts it away, nodding to himself. Smiling slightly, he heads towards the Professor's lab.

Derek seemed to vibrate with excitement. He was literally bouncing up and down to leak off energy.
"I wonder what Oak wants? Maybe it's a new Pokemon species with amazing powers? Or a dangerous quest?"

[Tsumeken]

As you arrive at Oak's lab, things seem to be a mess as Oak appears to be chasing around what appear to be a group of legendary Pokemon. "No! Don't do that! All my years of Research! No! Not that! Not the coffee maker! Get down from there!" Finally picking up a nearby set of Pokeballs, he begins to direct them at the Pokemon, sending them all back into their respective balls. "Ahhhh.... what a hassle."

He then turns to the two of you. "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't hear you come in. You must be here because of the message I sent out. Please take a seat and I'll explain everything to you. Funny, I thought there'd be more of you here."

Chuckling at the scene, Ryan nods at Professor Oak. "Well, I don't know how many of us you were expecting, but I came as soon as I could... so, what's up? Something to do with those Pokemon?"

"WasthatreallyaZapdos! Ithoughtitwould be bigger! ohmygodthisissogreat! DowegettohavetheLegendary'Mons?" Derek is overloading with excitement at the glimpse of the Pokemon.
*Pop*
A green leafy Leafeon bursts from a Pokeball that falls from Derek's belt
"Leaf!"
"I know you hate it in there Your Highness! I've already said sorry for thinking you were a guy! I'll make you another Ball tomorrow I swear!"

Leafeon's name is Princess
Espeon's name is ShadowStalker

Oak laughed at the display. "Calm down there kiddo. Now it's true, these Legendary Pokemon do need a bit of wrangling in. I need them, more or less, to be tamed. If I were to release them as they were now, who knows what could happen? They might go a bit wild and I can't have that. That's why I called you skilled trainers here. Now, I've been doing a bit of research on you trainers. After all it always pays to know who you're working with and I think I've selected just the right Pokemon for each of you." He walks over, retrieving two of the Pokeballs before returning. "This one's for you and this one would be yours." He hands you each your respective Pokemon. "Now, it may take some getting used to but these are legendary Pokemon we're talking about. They may not immediately take to being given orders but I am confident that with time, you shall be able to raise them effectively."

Having received a message from Dr. Oak.... the famous Dr. Oak!!! Koralia's heart was beating fast when she awoke in the bus right in the middle of Pallet Town. What kind of urgent event could have possibly happened for Oak to require her aid and not her elder siblings.

A minute passed and the bus left the town. Realising that she must have slept through the stop at Oak's lab. Koralia ran out of the bus and made her way running back toward Pallet Town. Finding Oak's lab before long, she try to get in silently as to not disturb anything the ongoing conversation. Remaining in the back, trying to look as if she was there since the beginning, being strong and silent. I believe you are forgetting me Mr. Oak.

Professor Oak merely smiles. "Well the more, the merrier." He scratches his chin for a moment before picking up one of the Pokeballs and handing it over to the newcomer. "There we are. Oh I can't wait to see how these Pokemon will react. It will be a marvelous experiment! I suggest you head north to Viridian City where you can find yourselves a bit of an adventure, maybe even take the Pokemon League Challenge. Even the Elite Four would be astounded to see such amazing creatures!"

[DragonOfUndeath]

Cue a released Zapdos.
"It's so pretty." *Zap* "And apparently doesn't like being called pretty. I deem you Bolt." *ZAP* "Sparky?" *ZAP* "OW! That one hurt! How about Thunder?" *No zap* "Good Thunder." *Zap for the hell of it.*
"Professor Oak tell it to stop zapping me!" *Zap then hug* "Aww, it's so cute." *Snuggles and sleeps*
Derek is standing there, a lightning bird wrapped around his shoulders and his hair on end and crackling with static electricity.

Chuckling at the antics of the Zapdos, Ryan looks at the Pokeball handed to him by Professor Oak. Shrugging, he clicks it open, watching as the Pokemon materializes from within. As it stares into his eyes, it lets out a low growl.

"Suicune... nice. You'll need a name, though..." Ryan pulls out his Pokedex, quickly registering Suicune in it. Reading through the data available, he thinks for a minute. "Hmm... Maybe something to do with the North Wind? Nah... the only names I can think of with that would be more for ice-types... How about Suigetsu?" Suicune continues to stare at him for a moment, before giving a brief, but definite, nod. "Alright, Suigetsu it is." Ryan raises the Pokeball to recall Suigetsu, but the Pokemon gives him a stern glare, energy pooling within his eyes. Sighing, Ryan meets his look, and says, "No. No attacking humans, unless they attack you first. Got it?" Suigetsu continues to gaze at him for a long moment, before aborting the Leer and letting the energy fade. Smiling, Ryan says, "I'll let you out once we're out of town, don't worry." Suigetsu nods, and with a flash of red light returns to the Pokeball.

Turning to the other trainers that received legends, Ryan says, "I don't think we've met, by the way... I'm Ryan Lyghtwind."

Professor Oak laughs. He remembers a similarly energetic electric Pokemon he once gave to a young man a long time ago. It also had a bad habit of zapping him. The Suicine, on the other hand, had seemed to accept it's trainer a little easier without the antics.

Looking at the other two having problems with their new pokemons, Koralia decide to take this outside.

Just outside of Oak's lab, outside of window view, Let see who this one contain. while looking at the pokeball. With a flash of light Raikou appeared standing proudly. Koralia quickly shielded herself waiting to get zapped. After a few seconds she try a glance at the pokemon and it still have'nt move. Ok... Raikou, let's try a name for you. Hmmmmm.... how about Rei? A moment of silent remained between the two, and suddenly a sound of a lightning zap can be heard even inside the lab along with a girl's cry. With some of her white hair standing in every direction but down: What? It's not like its ugly or something! Are are you mister too cool for a name? As Raikou charges up another zap, Koralia counter with the pokemon's pokeball, returning him inside. Sheesh, what a fierce one.

"Thunder is the best! Who wants to prove me wrong?" I look meaningfully at Ryan as I say this.
Thunder wakes up with a bristle of electric energy (In other words: *Zap*) and hops down.
"Zap! Zapdos!" Thunder tries talking to Princess who had curled up in a patch of sunlight
"Leaf!" She replies haughtily
"Note to self: discover if Legendary Pokemon can breed. Now Thunder you have a battle! I choose you!" Naturally this was followed by an arc of lightning in Derek's direction. *ZZAAPP* "If you spent as much time zapping Suicune as you do zapping me you could have been back talking to Her Highness over there!"

"Well..." I say to the other trainer, "You're certainly enthusiastic... sure, I'll battle you. Outside, though. Are we keeping it between our newest Pokemon, or would you like to bring your others into this?" As I head towards the door, I call over my shouolder, "You still haven't told me your name, by the way." Stopping at the doorway, I turn and say, "We'll be right outside if you want to watch, Professor."

Stepping outside, I chuckle at the state of the white-haired girl for a moment. Finding a fairly open area, I nod. "Time to see if my practice has paid off... Shun! Hinata! Suigetsu!" One by one, I call out my Pokemon. Turning to my Jolteon and Espeon, I say, "You two may be sitting this one out... but I figured you'd enjoy the fresh air, regardless." As the two move back a bit, I smile, watching as my Jolteon attempts to tackle my Espeon. Turning back to Suigetsu, I say, "You up for a fight?" Suigetsu gives an affirmative cry, and I smile, turning towards the door to await my challenger.

""You know my name is Derek, Ryan. I got ShadowStalker from you, remember?" I release my Umbreon where he pounces on the rolling ball of Eevee evolutions that are his siblings.

Blinking for a moment, I nod bashfully, saying, "Sorry about that, Derek. It was a while ago, after all... I didn't quite remember you." Looking over at the playful mass of Pokemon, I say, "They seem to be enjoying themselves... let's just keep this one-on-one, alright? And don't think I'll go easy on you... I've been training back at the Gym in Goldenrod!"

"You trained on a Golden Rod? Wouldn't that hurt? And I've trained around Viridian Forest, just wandering round. I actually found Princess there, though I swear she looked like a guy in the darkness, come to think of it I thought I saw a Leafeon run off after I caught her. Oh well."

Pfff, boys, always want to show off their new toys. as Koralia take a few steps toward them. Might as well let the others out as well.. Grabbing 2 pokeballs from her bag, she set free a Nidoran♂ and a Larvitar. Sereb, Garr, be nice with the others! as the Larvitar named Garr start moving toward the playful Eevees. Sereb the Nidoran♂ starts to wander around the ground. Unfortunatly a 3-sided battle would just be too confusing to see who's the best, so i'll just wait on the side, let you guys battle each other, take on the weakened winner and finally proclame myself the Queen of our little group. she added with a quirky smile, slowly losing her cool and silent personna.

"Thunder use Zap on the annoying girl." *Zap Zap* "Well at least you did as I asked before zapping me." I say, shaking off the electric attack.

Looking over at the girl, Ryan says, "We'll see... by the way, we never did get your name." Looking back at Derek, Ryan says, "And you... you know perfectly well what I meant. Though, I do feel sorry for your Leafeon... poor thing dealing with a trainer that knows more about Pokeballs than Pokemon. Anyway... since you're so eager to battle, let's get started!"

Oh! Sorry about that, I'm Koralia. with a more joyful attitude, clearly losing her cool persona.

Smiling at Koralia, Ryan replies, "Nice to meet you. I'd like to talk more... but I have a battle to deal with at the moment." Turning back towards Derek, Ryan smiles, focusing on the upcoming battle.

"Go Thunder! Use Thundershock on Ryan's Suicune!" I call out
"Zapdos!" He calls out, blasting a bolt of lightning at the Pokemon.

Ryan winces as the electric attack strikes Suigetsu, and watches as the Suicune gives a pained cry before it collapses. Cursing, he rushes forward to check on it. After a couple moments, he sighs, and calls Suigetsu into his Pokeball before turning to Derek. "...Yours already has an elemental attack... Well, no serious harm done, anyway." Sighing, Ryan continues, "I'll let you two go at it... Though, you guys mind if I Dex your Pokemon while you do? Might be useful knowledge to have..." Walking off to the side, Ryan sits under a tree, fiddling with his Pokedex as he alternates between watching the other two trainers and gazing pensively at the Pokeball containing Suigetsu.

I stare blankly at you "You mean yours doesn't? Lame. So what have you got?" My attention on the annoying girl

Wow, flawless victory! But it won't work against me. Drawing Raikou's pokeball, Ok, here goes something! Koralia throws the pokeball and standing proudly, staring at the girl. Please don't zap, you have the chance to prove your superiority against another legendary pokemon! shielding herself with her arms against a not coming zap of lightning. Seeing how Koralia got Raikou's attention, Ok, though my plan was to take on a weakened winner, which was more like a mockery of a plan without any serious intent, I am glad that you are fit enough for a true battle. she assumes a ready stance and wait.

Only to have Zapdos give Raikou a hard peck on the head.

Recovering from the Zapdos attack, Raikou seems to be filled with fire. Raikou, use........ But already Raikou uses bite without his trainer's order.

(Ow.... since the Peck only does half damage, even though it was a crit, I think the Raikou may have just finished off the Zapdos though I'm not too sure.)

As Oak walks around, trying to avoid being the center of the battle, he moves over to Ryan's Suicine, pulling out a small red spray bottle. "This potion will heal him up good as new." (A Super Potion)

"Thanks, Professor." Ryan says, smiling as he takes the potion. Releasing Suigetsu from the Pokeball, he sprays the potion over the Pokemon, allowing it to heal, before recalling him again to allow him to rest. "I don't think I ever did really thank you for that Sun Stone you gave me when we first met, by the way. So... thanks." Turning from the battle, Ryan looks over where the other Pokemon are playing. "I think I will actually give the Pokemon League a try... Even if I don't make it, it'll be a chance to see Kanto..."

[DragonOfUndeath]

"Good game guy. Nice Legendary BTW. Hey I saw your other Pokeballs, nice craftsmanship, any 'Mon inside them?" I picked up Zapdos, only to get a nice shock in return. "Have a rest Thunder." I return him to his ball.

And so, I proclame myself your Queen! Ok, joke aside, you guys did good. Nearing Raikou, You! Mister high and mighty, you were supposed to follow my lead. Standing defiant against his trainer, Raikou just ignore the worthless trainer, after all he his a Legendary Pokemon, he didnt need to be coached. Well, what do we do my loyal subjects? she added with a snicker.

Chuckling at Koralia's antics, Ryan says, "Nice battle. Professor Oak did suggest we try the Pokemon League Challenge... I don't necessarily know how far I'd be able to get, but I'd certainly be willing to try. What do you guys think?"

Well if we set our sight on the Elite Four, we first need the gym badges. Which mean we need to travel all around Kanto, and well I am new to the region, so I would need some guides. eyeing the two boys.

"I'm from Johto, myself..." Ryan replies as Koralia looks at him. "I know the general layout of Kanto, but I'm not really familiar with the region."

[DragonOfUndeath]

"Well don't look at me, I haven't been further than Viridian Forest."

[Tsumeken]

Oak laughs. "Children these days. Always eager to go even when they don't know where they're going. My granddaughter Daisy used to be a cartographer for my grandson and his friend. Luckily, I've continued to employ her services." Oak picks up a small laptop as he begins hitting a few buttons. Soon there is a series of beeps coming from your Pokedexes. "There. That should do it. The GPS software that my granddaughter helped me create will give you a full map of the region and help you on your way."

Smiling broadly, Ryan replies, "Thanks again, Professor Oak." Turning to Derek and Koralia, he says, "So... when do we leave?"

Thank you professor. As for when we leave, I say we leave tomorrow, I'll take to sighseeing Pallet Town first.

"It isn't really interesting 'round here. All the good 'Mons are FAR away from here, though I think I saw a group of Charmanders the other day."

Well then, maybe we should get going. already taking a few steps down a random road.

[BluesEclipse]

"Alright, then... Shun, Hinata, let's go!" As Ryan calls the Jolteon back to its Pokeball, the Espeon bounds over, following at his feet. Turning, he follows Koralia, and says, "So... Viridian, then?" Or did you want to go elsewhere?"

[Tsumeken]

While you sit there wondering about where to go next, a trainer comes this way. "Heh... bunch of newbies huh? You look like you don't even know which way to go." The trainer threw back his green hair. "If you're that lost, you'll never make it here. You should go back home now. I bet you don't even know how to battle properly." He pulls out two Pokeballs, calling out his two Pokemon. "Get out here, Rock! Roll!" From their Pokeballs emerge a small blue lion-looking like Pokemon along with a group of five eggs, each bearing a different face.

[DragonOfUndeath]

"I ain't a newbie Gary. You know that, in fact Oak gave me a Zapdos, that has to count for something. Go Princess." I throw a stick at the lazing 'Mon. It sees Gary and bounds in front of me.

I'm assuming Derek knows Gary, seeing as he lives in Pallet Town

Looking at the trainer, Ryan says, "I'm more than capable of battling. Just not from this region." Looking at the Pokemon, he says, "If you're looking for a battle, though, I'm game - Hinata, let's show him what we can do!" Hinata runs forward, crouching slightly as she faces the trainer and his Pokemon.

[Tsumeken]

"Fine, I'll take you both on. One Pokemon each and the name's Tyler... Tyler Oak though a lot of people say I do look like my dad." The Shinx and Exeggcute move forward to prove themselves as well.

"Tyler? Did you dye your hair? I swear it was blond. Anyway. Your Highness, if you will do me the honor of Tackling Rock."
Rock is the Shinx right?
"Leaf!" She purrs before pouncing on the lion-thing.

Aww, guys, I wanted to fight too. I hope you have a third pokemon ready for battle after that!

Smiling, Ryan pulls out his Pokedex, quickly scanning the Exeggcute's data. "Well, since you're taking that one... Hinata, Shadow Ball! Take Roll down!" The Espeon gives a quiet cry as a dark ball of energy materializes in front of her, before flying at the Egg Pokemon.

The Exeggcute rolls around a bit before falling over. As it stops, he returns it to it's Pokeball, "Tch... lucky shot. Rock, tackle that Leafeon right back!"

I don't use that rule. It seems really stupid for it to take that long since Ash could pull his out and it instantly tells him what the Pokemon is so I've been deeming it as a free action in most of my others games, not standard. Just for future reference. :smallsmile:

Nodding as the Exeggcute falls, Ryan then points his Pokedex at the Shinx. "Alright, Hinata, let's give Princess here a hand!" Hinata steps back slightly, crouching slightly behind Derek's Leafeon. As the Espeon's eyes glow slightly, a matching glow surrounds Princess.

"Leaf!"
The Eeveelution dashed back off the Shinx, before charging it again, unleashing a devastating attack on it.

The shinx flies back from the hard hit as it falls unconscious. "Dang it, return Rock." He recalls the Shinx and scoffs, "Well maybe not talent but you sure got luck." He looks over at the third person, "Yeah I got your battle here, if you can handle it." He produces a third ball from his belt.

"Well, it was a good battle, regardless. Great job, Hinata, Princess!" Ryan says, smiling. As he turns and walks to the side, Hinata close behind him, he offhandedly says over his shoulder, "I suppose you did alright as well, Derek." Once out of the way of the other trainers, he turns to watch, his Pokedex ready to gather information on Tyler's next Pokemon.

You just suffered a double defeat and you still talk big! You think because I'm a girl I can't fight? Sereb! Get ready, we're gonna teach that guy a lesson! A Nidoran♂ stands up from under the shade of a nearby tree and present himself in front of Koralia.

"I wasn't thinking about it... but still...." He laughs as he sees the Pokemon you choose to deploy. "Having a boy take over for you? Let's see how you deal with this then! Get out there, Skorupi!"

The Skorupi goes down from the powerful Peck while an amazed Tyler takes your punch, falling backwards. He rubs his jaw and scoffs, "You're just lucky it rained last night because the grass is all wet and I slipped." He returns the Skorupi and stands up, wiping down the seat of his pants. "Hmph... I don't have time to play with you geeks. I gotta get to Gee-gees. I'll get back with you guys later." And with that, he heads off.

(Experience to be given later, gotta head out for now. But know to hit someone with a punch, you have to roll 10+their dex mod or higher so technically he missed you, not that he didn't hurt you. Just for future reference :smallsmile:)

Good job Sereb! We sent them back packing real good! while turning to face her new companions. Seeing them made her realise that she must have appeared as a crazy and wild girl, putting her two hands together looking at her feet, embarrased Huhmmm, I am sorry for....... you know...... what I just did.


/facepalm for the punch that missed me, duly noted for future brawl. I would have used Brutal Workout on Sereb if he wast going to faint from it xD

"So are we going to Viridian now or you guys wanna crash at mine for the night and head out at dawn?" Derek is stroking his Zapdos, getting tiny zaps as he does so.

"If we can crash at your place, I see no reason to rush out now. We can make sure we're all fresh when we head out." Looking at his Pokedex, reviewing the Skorupi's data, he nods to himself. Raising the Pokedex, he says, "It'll also give us a chance to make sure we've got the data on each other's Pokemon." As if to emphasize his point, he scans the Zapdos's with it, adding its information to the Pokedex.

As the group marches north towards Viridian they spot a group of wild pokemon of the beatn path. The creatures appear to be a flock of birds with brown wings and a pinkish looking beak peck at the ground for food. One of the birds however is a goldish color and shines a bit.

Ohhh shiny!!! Garr it's up to you!!! as Koralia throws the pokeball of her Larvitar. She then take out her pokedex to scan the Shiny Pidgey.

Smiling as he pulls out his Pokedex to scan the Pidgey, Ryan flings out a Pokeball. "Alright, Suigetsu, let's go!"

[Tsumeken]

The Pidgey see your pokemon and begin to try and hop towards you before spreading their wings and attacking back (you guys go first).

"Suigetsu, Bite that shiny one!" Ryan calls out, watching as the flying Pokemon move to attack. The Suicune races towards the unusually-colored Pidgey, attacking it.

The Leafeon spear-tackles the pidgey, wrapping it's paws around it and crushing it tight before leaping off, propelling the bird into the ground.

Two of the common Pidgey fall unconcious while the shiny one remains though battered for his trouble the other two pidgey move in and tackle at Princess and Garr while the shiny Pidgey flaps it's wings and blows sand at Suigetsu.

"Alright," Ryan says as he pulls out a Great Ball, "Suigetsu, use Bite on one of the others! I've got that one!" He flings the ball towards the shiny Pidgey as Suigetsu moves to attack the nearest of the other bird Pokemon.

"Sure thing, Derek." Ryan says, pullng out another Great Ball and handing it to his fellow trainer.

The pedgy takes a hard bite as it falls uncoinous leaving one raminign (which I assume Dragon of Undeath was going to attempt to catch the remaining one so I'll roll the capture roll in OOC)

The ball smacks the Pidgey a bit to hard but it gets the job done as the unconcious bird shakes and rolls in the ball but eventually stops.

I have no idea how Brutal Workout can be used in terms of how it appears or game play, so I'll take suggestion, but anyway I use Brutal Workout on Garr.

With the Avian threat averted you can continue now on your way to Pallet town or if you would prefer, look for more pokemon.

"Nice catch, Derek!" Ryan says, before turning to Koralia. "You did pretty good there, yourself... you've been raising your Larvitar well." Smiling, he turns to Suigetsu. "And you did great, too, Suigetsu! Keep that up and you'll be able to take down that Zapdos in no time!" Suigetsu gives Ryan a cold stare, before tossing his mane haughtily.

Chuckling, Ryan says, "Do you want to stay out for a bit? It's probably best to keep you in the Pokeball while we're in a city, if only to make sure we don't draw unwanted attention, but while we're travelling, you can stay out for a bit." The Suicune gives a curt nod, and motions with it's head, as if to say, "What are you waiting for?" before taking a couple steps down the path.

Turning back to the others, Ryan says, "Looks like he's just a bit impatient... well, let's get going then! To Viridian City!" He turns and starts walking along as well, the smile never leaving his face.

*Zap* *Zap* Zapdos (who had decided to nose around Ryan's pack, probably for muchies) emphasized the point by shocking both trainers.

Wincing as the electricity jolts through him, Ryan looks back at the Zapdos, sighing. "You could ask your own trainer to feed you, you know." he says, looking at the legendary bird. Pulling out a pack of jerky, he whistles towards Suigetsu, holding out a couple of pieces of the dried meat. As the water Pokemon takes it, he pulls out another piece and holds it out to the Zapdos. "Here... though don't shock me again, alright? You can shock Derek - he's not my problem, after all - but I really don't appreciate it, myself." he says, fixing the Zapdos with a stern look.

You could have sworn the bird smiles as it sends another bolt at you, this one is more playful, barely sticking your hair up.
"Zapdos." It giggles as it munches down.
"Why did you do that for? Now it will want more food tomorrow! He needs to learn when food-time is and when it isn't."

Raising an eyebrow at Derek, Ryan says, "It's just a bit for him to snack on. I know what I'm doing, don't worry."

You arrive at Viridian City to a large gathering of people, spectators mostly as a large sign proclaims the words "Gym leader Tryouts!" in bold lettering. The city itself seems to be missing thier leader at the moment and as such are soon to be holding a contest to determine who the next leader would be.

"Becoming a Gym Leader? Hmm... it's never really something I've thought about." Ryan looks at the group milling about thoughtfully, and after a moment nods to himself. "It might be fun to try, though."

That could be fun but doesnt being gym leader mean you have to remain at the gym? Without waiting for any answer she goes on: Although, they can't force people to become the leader if we don't want to, so if we beat them all and refuse to become the leader, does that mean we can get the badge for free?

"I think we would get the badge and the guy or gal in 2nd will become Leader, basically we would earn a badge from a Gym leader who hadn't even set up his Gym yet :smalltongue:"
