View Full Version : Original Linear Guild Reunion?

Today's reappearance of Zz'dtri surprises me, especially since on the poster of the Linear Guild the IFCC had he, along with Hilgya and Yiyik. I'm guessing Yikyik's definitely dead, but Hilgya was pretty definitively left off as a loose end. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0084.html) We don't know where Durkon is, and very notably, unlike the rest of the original Linear Guild Tarquin doesn't have a bounty on her. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0715.html) If Malack's willing to take in one wandering cleric of the Northern Gods he's never met, he's certain willing to take in another.
TL;DR: If we're taking bets, the next time we see Durkon Malack's reintroducing him to Hilgya.
EDIT: Some interesting comics that might be relevant:
Apparently, Durkon is "doing research" right now, presumably Malack (who is also notably not there). I'm guessing it's related to the book he gets in this comic:
http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0739.html
though I don't know what it could be.
Also, if V puts Zz;dtri before the courts again, probably he won't do too well considering the empire of blood's conviction rate and record on free speech:

Enjoy.

I really hope not. She served an excellent purpose when first introduced and was put on a bus. I hope she stays gone.

Given that we know that Roy asked Durkon to look into the development of a mass version of Death Ward (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0672.html) to protect against Xykon's negative energy attacks and given that Malack says that the subject matter of the book is very common to his religion and he's a frigging high priest of Nergal, lion-headed god of death and destruction, and given that we later see Malack help Durkon with spell research (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0750.html), I think our best bet has to be on the Mass Death Ward research.

Another obvious candidate would be "researching the vulnerability of liches", but given that we know that Roy has suggested to Durkon that he solve a specific spell research task, I would expect that task to take priority.

There's an outstanding bounty (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0715.html) on ZZ'dtri's head, so a free speech case in court would be the least of his problems if identified. :smalltongue:

Leave it to this forum to take a clever joke and beat it until it's not only dead, but every ancestor of it is dead, until they're just beating on primordial ooze in a swamp somewhere.

It was a joke. Using it twice would be stupid and ridiculous. And as pointed out, he has a far bigger problem with the whole treason thing than a 6 year old joke about parody law.

Also, you're about 4 days late and many threads behind for "today's strip".

I kind of doubt that Nale would care enough to track down Yikyik or Hilgya. He seems to have wisened up to the whole obsessive evil-opposites theme, and instead is likely to view the two of them as dead weight. I mean, Hilgya practically "betrayed" him by not murdering Durkon when she had the chance, and Yikyik is deceased, failed to slay Belkar the first time around, and would require resources to raise. Nale could bring them back, but I don't see his motivation for doing so when he may be able to surround himself with more competent, or at least more loyal, cronies.

Belkar used YikYik's head as a hat and a salsa bowl if I remember. Hilgya doesn't seem the type who'd want to help nale, so they're out. The rest are still in play.

She only allied with Nale to get the talisman (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0074.html). After it's destruction she has no reason at all to join him again.

Presumably because, as a cleric of the Northern god Loki, she wasn't recruited until after Nale left the Western Continent.

Well, it wouldn't take too long, given that Belkar was wearing his head as a hat right in front of him while they were tying him up.

As I said in another thread, Nale would be supremely dumb to rope Hilgya in again.

Whether or not we're about to see the return of Hilgya is more interesting.

The forums are fun sometimes, aren't they?
