There are certain Divine Abilities that require a Deity to rest for some time after using it.

So what exactly is "resting"? Are they helpless? Like asleep? Or just exhasuted/fatigued? Are their powers gone for a while?

I assume that they are fully aware of their surroundings, but they cannot perform any strenuous activity.

Some abilities require the deity to rest afterward. If no rest is required, the entry is absent. A resting deity can engage in light activities such as talking or walking at half speed. When attempting anything more strenuous than that, the deity can only take partial actions and suffers a -6 penalty on all attack rolls, saves, and checks. The deity cannot use another ability that requires rest until its current rest requirement is fulfilled. Any time the deity spends performing strenuous activities does not count toward the required rest time.

If it's a powerful enough deity, it's really not a big deal- it just means they can't use another rest-triggering SDA for a while. Note there's a 3.0ism in there; for 3.5, 'partial actions' would be worded as 'may only take a move or standard action', as per Slow.

Blast! I neglected to fully read the SRD again! Thank you good sir! :D

"On the 7th day, God was limited to a single move or standard action per round and suffered -6 penalties, which is likely why He failed His Spot checks to see the snake Hide in Plain Sight in the concealment granted by the light undergrowth in the garden of Eden."

Satan must've pulled a natural 20 on his Bluff check against Eve.
Then again, seeing as she was level 1, it wasn't as if he had to roll more than a 2 to beat her Sense Motive.

That's awesome. I need to save it somewhere before it's replaced by red text.

This makes me think of both the Odinsleep and the "cooldown" for powerful moves in certain strategy battle games.

This also reminds me of the t-shirt I think I saw in the store here or on some other site like nuklearpower..."Jesus Saves. The rest of you take 10d6 damage." Or something. (Apparently Jesus had Evasion).
