First things first, I am extremely new, long time reader first time joiner and poster. So please forgive any naivety in this post, as well please offer suggestions on how to improve this.

Now to the root, my DM and I were talking, I sometimes DM but he's the main, and since I have a great untapped creative potential (read as seemingly infinite free time and boredom now that summer break has started) I've made a few classes and he's approved and disproved some as he saw fit. But as of late I wanted to make a new class, one that excels in every element that exists in all classes, but really isn't that special. The Exemplar (of Average) now I don't know how to post the class block all stylized, I tried finding a thread that tells me how, but in all honesty it's sometimes easier to just post. So here it is...

Now what I'd like is feedback, CCC (Comments, Criticisms, Complaints, as appropriate please) on the class, and what it's missing, because I feel it's missing something, but anything I add I feel will make it too powerful. So... Help? (And as of this moment I am not aware of there being an Exemplar class in DnD, 3.5 and earlier at least)

Thank You!

Any thoughts?

Crazy awesome in Gestalt, would never touch it outside of such.

At least, as a PC anyways. It'd be interesting to use on an NPC.

Haha, thanks for the Honesty. But I was going for the Exemplar of Average, so it works I think.

It's, well, it's kindoff nothing really...

It's almost certainly underpowered (we're talking OA samurai level here, barely stronger than an npc class because it gets better saves), and is decidedly un-average. Like Nine said, it could be useful in a gestalt with a fullcaster, although you only benefit from either the reflex save (if you were going to gestalt with a melee class) or the invreased bab and (maybe) fortitude save if you were gestalting with a skillmonkey or another caster.

Also, this class needs something unique. How about abilities related to being average, including things related to statistical average, like being allowed to take 10 on attack rolls?

I designed it meaning for it to be underpowered, and it is missing something, something big that gives it oomph. I've tried out a couple of different things, ranger type spellcasting because full casting would be lethal. A cohort/mount/companion/familiar ability did occur to me, but I wasn't sure how to proceed with it. Hmm, the taking 10 would be nice, but how do I include that, both fluff and mechanically.

Bonus feats! Ala the Psychic Warrior, but they can be any feat ever!

I've never played one, I always thought they got feats like a fighter does. What levels do they get feats at?

1, 2, 5, 8, 11, etc.

These might be useful to you for reference (if I am not mis-interpriting your intent, and even if I am, what you have created could easily be adapted to similar fluff) :

Does not really fit with my idea.. but entertaining none-the-less. Thank you.

There, all Tabled, I was wondering if maybe making it d20 HD (a la "Lightning Warrior") would improve it any, also considering some Marshall-esque abilities.
