The city of Elstrice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFZg2upLNsc) is one of the largest city-states that compromise the Free Cities and certainly the most prosperous with ships and barges constantly sailing up the Fey River to unload their goods. It is a city that values the more delicate things of the world such as beauty and art, a value taken to heart in it's construction. Ivory towers sweep up toward the sky along the Fey River with gaily colored banners snapping crisply whenever a gentle wind passes by, emblazoned with the emblems of the twenty-three noble families that called Elstrice their home. The last banner proudly stands above a marble castle that stretches across the Fey and compromises the entirety of the northern wall of the city, the castle of the Fey Queen, ruler of the city-state and it's people.

Numerous graceful bridges marry the Fey's banks to one another, allowing citizens to pass from one side to the other with ease while many parks and open squares keeps the city from feeling cramped or crowded. Trees are common, especially the flowering variety, ensuring there is always a touch of color and the natural world to enjoy along the boulevards of the city, though most are empty at this time of day and for good reason! The Vance family's Nereid Ball was to begin this sunny day and many people had gathered at the Golden Amphitheater to watch the proceedings with anticipation of who might win the day's activities. Street vendors and performers, seeing a chance to profit from the games of the high-born are out in force to amaze the common folk or to promise them the best deal of one-of-a-kind merchandise that certainly couldn't be found two stalls down. Jesters and acrobats cavort and dance in competition with one another, all to the merriment of the crowd, even as most begin to drift within the wide open amphitheater to see the first contest of the day.

Past the arched walls, the amphitheater forms a half-moon around a central stage that had been magicked to look as if it was fashioned of glass with schools of brightly scaled fish darting back and forth frantically inside of it. A thick velvet curtain separates the excited populace from the contestants, turning the dull roar of laughter, music, and conversation to a muted whisper for the men and women back stage who prepare to show the judges what they were made of. Men and women alike mingle and flit back and forth as they prepare for first stage of the Nereid's Ball, hoping to gain the favor of the Vance family judges and gain an early lead. However, for now, they are given time to socialize with one another to try and calm their nerves before the Fey Queen arrived to over-see the proceedings...

Feel free to make your introductions and whatnot before we move on to the beauty contest!
