Question about Familiars

Can the Stitched Flesh Familiar feat be used in conjunction with Improved Familiar? I can't think of a reason why not, but I'm not a full encyclopedia of 3.5, so...yeah.

I do not know the answer to the above question, but I have a question of my own, also relating to Familiars, although this is for Pathfinder. No hijack intended, I just don't want to start another familiar-thread on the first page.

How does Improved Familiar work in Pathfinder? The Pathfinder SRD is somewhat unclear in it's Improved Familiar (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/improved-familiar---final-1) article as to what bonuses apply and the regular Familiar (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/animals/familiar) list is woefully short. What bonus would be gained by, for example, choosing a Dire Rat over a regular Rat? Still +2 Fortitude like a regular rat, more, or something else entirely? What about an Arbiter Inevitable, of which there are no "regular" Familiar already?

Considering a Tumor Familiar for my Alchemist (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11011942) and the PSRD articles relating to familiars could use some help. :smallsmile:

What do you the interaction would be? Both merely give you additional choices when you select a familiar. You may have both feats, and "benefit" from the wider range of selection, but you can only have one familiar and must choose either the Stitched Flesh familiar, a creature from the Improved list, or a creature from the basic list.

Essentially I wanted wanted to know if it was possible to get a stitched flesh pseudodragon or the like as a familiar. So, I suppose the above answers my question.
