Question before we are ready, if a wizard had sudden extend at level 1 would he be able to make extended potions? of Level 1 spells for 50 gp? or no, i am guessing no but just wanted to check.

Brew Potion requires CL3, so it's not likely. Either way, metamagic items are created at the standard cost of the improved spell, regardless of the method used to cast it, so yes, a CL1 potion of an Extended 1st level spell would have a base price of 100g.

Dreadful Wrath's DC = 10+1/2 CL + Cha Mod...so with a Cha Mod of +3, would the DC be 13 or 14? (Not sure if the half CL gets rounded to 1 regardless or not...) For reference see PGtF pg. 38

So the 2 Will Saves are

#1 Dreadful Wrath (DC 13 or 14 depending on the answer to the above)
#2 Cause Fear (DC 14)

Panicked

A panicked creature must drop anything it holds and flee at top speed from the source of its fear, as well as any other dangers it encounters, along a random path. It can’t take any other actions. In addition, the creature takes a -2 penalty on all saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. If cornered, a panicked creature cowers. A panicked creature can use special abilities, including spells, to flee; indeed, the creature must use such means if they are the only way to escape.

Panicked is a more extreme state of fear than shaken or frightened.

Here is the SRD on Panicked...I stacked a shaken and a frightened to get here, so you have a -4 on all saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. And you drop anything in hand...not sure how we handle the "random path" aspect though...:smallconfused:

Stacking fear abilities just increases the severity; the character isn't affected by the lesser versions as well (note the use of 'instead' in the description of fear effects). As for the fleeing, I believe that's meant to mean that the target simply flees by the most direct and obvious route possible, regardless of tactical considerations.

Okay, he was shaken by my Dreadful Wrath (-2), then Cause Fear frightened him (-2) elevating him to panicked. Both penalties are untyped, so wouldn't they stack in this? :smallconfused:

Michelle:The penalties are a result of the condition, not imposed directly by the spells, and it states here (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/specialAbilities.htm#fear) that a shaken character who is made frightened becomes panicked instead, not in addition - in other words, while both effects persist, they are not shaken or frightened, just panicked.

The reason I think it stacks is due to the sentence right before it. Fear effects are cumulative.

I'd check the RC on the matter, but I'm at work, so that will have to wait.

Michelle:Alright, had a look at the RC. It revises the descriptions of the effects to "Frightened/panicked creatures take penalties as if shaken," rather than specifying the -2, so it seems clear that the -2 only applies once.

No effect on the match, by the way; still waiting on Guy's flight path.
