Terreria?

So I'm considering picking up this game, and am wondering if people have experience with it. The trailers seemed to emphasize the Multiplayer aspect, and I was wondering whether one needs to play multiplayer to have the full experience.

Multiplayer makes the game more fun (it gives the bad guys something else to shoot at), more difficult (more bad guys spawn depending on the number of players connected to the server) and makes building projects significantly less of a chore.

However you can use the same character you have in single player on a multiplayer server and bring items back and forth from either world freely (either in your inventory or in a piggy bank).

It's very much like minecraft multiplayer/singleplayer comparison. You can pretty much do the whole game singleplayer, but multiplayer lets you share the experience with people and show off your creations.
