Im looking for class features that replace summon familiar. I want to say Ive seen some that involve wands and staves.

Can someone point out where I can find these or any others?

Unearthed Arcana has specialist variant wizards that trade their familiars for various abilities based on a chosen school.

Players Handbook II has the Immediate Magic variants for wizards that trade their familiar for some defensive abilities again based on chosen school.

If your DM is open to Pathfinder, wizards have a standard option between a familiar and a bonded object. The latter lets you spontaneously cast any spell from your spellbook 1/day, but it's hard to cast anything if you lose it.

Complete Champion has an alternate class feature for sorcerers that lets you replace your normal familiar with a "divine companion". It lets you convert your spells into healing and shielding for yourself (and only yourself).

Edit: This page (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19872054/Alternative_Class_Features_III) might help you.

Can't recall having seen any ACFs that replace a Familiar with anything related to Staves or Wands. If such a thing exists, I would guess it was Dragon Magazine, or maybe a homebrew...

There is an Item Familiar thingy. I'm using it for one of my characters. Can't remember where I got it from, though... There's this core version (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/itemFamiliars.htm), though (I'm using a tweaked variant from elsewhere).

I think I've seen something about this in a Dragon magazine. Shall I look it up?

The UA Item Familiar is considered comprehensively broken, but Pathfinder and Dragon Magazine both published an option that lets you swap your familiar for a special magic item that helps spellcasting.
