View Full Version : Brainstorming a name for a Mexican Kobold Gunslinger

Just like the title says. With the Ultimate Combat Playtests, I've fallen in love with the Gunslinger. Even though we're playing Curse of the Crimson Throne, my DM decided to be nice and allow me to play a Kobold (despite it not fitting in with the world that well) on the condition that I give him a big floppy sombrero and a mustache.

However, I'm finding myself stuck on a name. El Muchacho (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEzaW_0eliY&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_52264) has a nice ring to it, but I'm also trying to brainstorm any alternates and I'm frankly coming up blank.

There's a gazillion American gunslinger names out there, from Wild Bill to John Dillinger to Billy the Kidd, but precious little in the way of famous Mexican/Spanish gunslingers (though I guess they would be called banditos).

Any thoughts?

Señor Esteban Rodriguez Hernando III.

Or any other rather long and excessive name.

Gordito. If anyone asks, have him hit himself and say it's because he's a little piggy.

Perro Sarnoso Gruñón

(Mangy Grumpy Dog)

Perro (dog) sounds almost like Pedro ( spanish for Peter ). Sarnoso is a pun with Cardoso, a common surname. Gruñón is just a way to add a strong sounding surname.

Gordito. If anyone asks, have him hit himself and say it's because he's a little piggy.

I'm not sure I get the little piggy, but Gordito is absolutely perfect. I kept trying to think of where I kept getting my mental image of this character from, and I realized it was Gordito from Dr. McNinja. Little Kobold Gordito is WAY too awesome of a concept. :smallamused:

Now I wonder if I can persuade my DM to let me ride a raptor...

EDIT: Ninja'd (appropriately enough). What are the rules for acquiring and taming a non-standard mount like a raptor?

I really, really just want to do this: http://drmcninja.com/archives/comic/3p20/

Simply Pepe would do fine for a Kobold I believe, has that comical touch to it that I think you are after.

How about "Grande Cojones"?

As for the Raptor: Monster Manual IV (or was it V?) has the Fleshraker Dinosaur.

What system are you using? If 3.5, the DMG has a pretty standard system on buying a tame mount based on either CR or hit dice. And of course, warbeast template has rules about it.

See if you can take the obese flaw to fit the character then.

"Kobold" is actually a German word (name of a supernatural creature that's basically a Goblin), but that's irrelevant to this discussion. If Blizzard can make a creature from Norwegian folklore Jamaican or Haitian, then you can make a creature from German folklore Mexican or Spanish.

How about Puno Puno del Queso?
