After entering the alley and looking around to make sure no one is following him, the man speaks.

"Please, you're my only hope. I have someone trying to kill me, but I don't know who it is. I desperately need protection!"

planswalker
2011-05-23, 09:54 PM
"Indeed I can help you. What is the nature of your problem."

Rizban
2011-05-23, 10:05 PM
"Someone is trying to kill me! I need protection! What more do you need to know?"

He's almost hysterical.

planswalker
2011-05-23, 10:31 PM
Remaining calm, Bear tries to be reassuring. "Yes, I understand that. However, how are they trying to kill you? Poison? Magical disease? Assasins? Staged accidents? Provoking the wrath of a local gang?

I can provide help against all of that, and more. But you'll need to calm down or you'll only do half their work for them."

diplo check to reassure him: [roll0]

"Two weeks ago, I was nearly run over by a speeding carriage.. if it had been another twenty feet closer... A few days later, I was at the butcher, and his knife 'bounced' off of a bone, and nearly took my head off! Then, I was bitten by a spider three days ago, and I swear I still feel the poison coursing through my veins! This morning, I got a splinter! A splinter! I just know it was placed there to cause a lethal infection!"

planswalker
2011-05-23, 11:21 PM
"Very well, I can most definitely protect you. Would you like to begin hiring my services this moment?"

please keep in mind my character's 17 modifier in sense motive to tell if something's off with this guy.

Rizban
2011-05-24, 09:29 PM
"Yes! Please! Here, take it!"

He shoves 100 gold into you hands.

"Just keep me safe from these assassins!"

planswalker
2011-05-24, 11:55 PM
Taking the gold, Bear says, "Now then, if you are poisoned, a neutralize poison should do the trick."

after casting the spell, Bear says, "Feel better now?"

Rizban
2011-05-24, 11:57 PM
"Ack! No! It's a disease not a poison. I feel a little faint..."

He holds his hand up to his forehead and seems to sway on his feet as if about to fall over.

planswalker
2011-05-25, 12:07 AM
"You, good sir, said that you had been bitten by a spider. They carry a venom, not a disease. If you're still feeling their effects, what you need is antivenom, not a cure for disease. If, however, you are merely a paranoid lunatic, I will take the 18 gold for the spell I expended and return the rest to you. None of the rest of your ravings are anything more than the rantings of a paranoid lunatic."

well, Riz, thanks for ignoring MY gather information check and giving my rat a false lead as if my rat was a complete moron. I would think his sense motive score would let him know the difference between a stupid lunatic and someone who actually needs protection.

Rizban
2011-05-25, 12:19 AM
"Oh! Hmm... thank you for clearing that up! I suppose I was confused as to which spell does what. I'm not particularly good with magic, you see?"

Well, this is a spoiler but... he may be a paranoid delusional, but there really are people trying to kill him. He just hasn't noticed any of the actual attempts on his life. He has managed to avoid real danger by fleeing from imaginary ones.

I also had kind of planned for him to ask you to basically do a Man vs Wild show for him so that he can learn to be less cowardly.

planswalker
2011-05-25, 12:30 AM
"Well, do you have any evidence that there actually is someone after you? A cart 20 feet away poses no threat, and you were not even hurt by the butcher's slip. Pretty pathetic for an assassination attempt. Now then, if you have a splinter, do you mind if I take a look at the wound?"

Rizban
2011-05-25, 12:33 AM
He gingerly holds his hand out for you to look at and winces in pain before you even touch it.

"Does it look bad?"

(Heal check)

planswalker
2011-05-25, 12:35 AM
Bear does a casual examination, looking to see how bad it is.

taking 10 for a 16. enough to keep a warrior's wounds to keep from bleeding all over the battlefield. Hopefully enough to identify the wound's nature.

Rizban
2011-05-25, 12:52 AM
It appears to be a simple splinter, freshly earned this morning.

You also spot a strange, shallow prick with just the tiniest hint that there was a poison in it, as if a poisoned needle tried to stab into his hand, but he jerked his hand back at the last moment. Could it be that someone is actually trying to kill him?

planswalker
2011-05-25, 12:57 AM
Bear casts a cure minor wounds spell on the man to ease the pain of the splinter.

"Well sir, I have good news and better news. The good news is that you're not paranoid. The better news is that I've healed your splinter before you could get infected. Also on the good new side of things, the neutralize poison I cast on you wasn't a waste. The bad news is that there is a real chance that someone is actually trying to kill you, but not in the ways you are thinking they are."

Rizban
2011-05-25, 01:16 AM
"Are you talking about the funny taste in the water? It's the mind control serum, isn't it?! I knew it!"

planswalker
2011-05-25, 01:18 AM
"No. There is no such thing as mind-control serum. At least, not like that. No, but you had a very tiny pinprick on your finger that was the result of a poisoned needle."

Rizban
2011-05-25, 01:34 AM
"Poisoned needle? Who even uses those? That's so... old fashioned. Still... it's a good thing I hired you."

planswalker
2011-05-25, 01:37 AM
"Um, anyone who wants to discreetly and effectively deliver a poison to a target. The world of assassination is not one of fashion. It's one of effectiveness. And poison needles are a thousand times more effective than splinter infections, runaway carts, and butchers slipping on their bones."

Rizban
2011-05-25, 01:38 AM
"Huh... Well, maybe you should come search my home and see if there are any more surprises."

No update for Hagan?

planswalker
2011-05-25, 01:46 AM
http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11062871&postcount=282 You still have yet to respond to post 282. I'm waiting on you, not the other way around.

"Indeed. Be aware, I usually charge 100 gold per day, which includes a budget for up to 1000 gold worth of spells, should you have been required to hire for each spell I cast. you have hired my services with your first hundred gold for the next day. I assume you can continue paying tomorrow, or despite how much I enjoy your company and wish to help you, I will have to seek someone who can afford help."

Bear has his new "boss" lead him back to his place.

Rizban
2011-05-25, 02:06 AM
"Of course! That's cheap compared to my life!"

He leads you back to his home. It's a nice, three story building in Old Town with a thick stone wall around it; however, all the windows seem to have been boarded up from the inside.

As you approach the front gate, he stops you and whispers harshly.

"No! They expect us to use the front gate. We have to go in through the back."

planswalker
2011-05-25, 02:08 AM
Bear whispers back "What if I send a decoy in through the front gate first to make sure it's clear?"

Rizban
2011-05-25, 02:10 AM
"No, no. Simply unthinkable. We use the back gate. It's safe."

He leads you around the back of the house and quickly enters through the servants' gate.

"Ah! But you know they'd expect us to use the back door if we use the back gate! I'm too tricksy for them though. We use the front door this time!"

planswalker
2011-05-25, 07:57 AM
Humoring the man that has hired himself for personal protection at the wages he demanded instead of market average, Bear is satisfied to follow him through the servants' gate.

Rizban
2011-05-25, 02:11 PM
He then leads you around a now well worn path through the bushes to the front door.

planswalker
2011-05-25, 03:51 PM
Bear follows him all the way inside his house. Once inside, he says, "By the way, how many days in a row have you been walking the exact same path into your house? I'd imagine that by now, whomever's out to get you knows the route you take into your home. Besides which, it's not at the door that assassins are likely to come at you. It's once you're inside and there are far fewer witnesses."

Rizban
2011-05-26, 05:29 AM
He stops you before entering.

"Don't step on the welcome mat. There is a sniper in the trees aimed at that point."

planswalker
2011-05-26, 03:52 PM
To prove the point that the man is wrong, Bear steps on the mat and stands there, waiting for the "sniper" to strike.

Rizban
2011-05-27, 12:15 AM
Make a Reflex save.

planswalker
2011-05-27, 12:32 AM
[roll0]

well, a reflex save proves it's not a sniper, at least.

Rizban
2011-05-27, 12:34 AM
Your employer panics.

As you step on the welcome mat, poisoned needles pop up out of it. One pierces through your shoe and into your foot. Make a Fort save.

planswalker
2011-05-27, 12:39 AM
[roll0]

At least it's not a sniper and I'm not proven wrong...

Rizban
2011-05-31, 09:44 PM
You succeed on the fortitude save, but it suddenly becomes obvious that his paranoia might be justified.

planswalker
2011-06-01, 03:56 AM
Wondering what idiot fairy had blessed the fool that he just so happened to be paranoid about things that actually mattered, Bear calmly informed his employer: "Well, there's no sniper, but the welcome mat was rigged to poison the next person to step on it."

Rizban
2011-06-01, 05:37 AM
"Well now... that is bizarre. I could have sworn that one was the sniper. I wonder where they left the sniper... probably in the loo."

planswalker
2011-06-01, 08:13 AM
"How long has the sniper been after you?"

Please, please don't tell me he's been holding it in for months now.

Rizban
2011-06-01, 03:38 PM
"About two weeks. I invested in a chamber pot.... D-Did you need to borrow it?"

He looks somewhat embarrassed.

planswalker
2011-06-02, 01:09 AM
"Well, actually, I have a theory, and I would like to test it out on anything or anywhere else you think someone is out to get you. So far, you've been correct in the basic scheme, but you have been also completely wrong about the means by which the killers have been trying. Learning their real methods will enable me to defend you much more effectively."

Rizban
2011-06-02, 01:13 AM
"Well, there's a rabid beaver secreted in my breadbox... I'm sure it's hungry enough to eat flesh by now..."

planswalker
2011-06-02, 01:23 AM
Sighing slightly, Bear says, "Let's see this beaver. Take me to your breadbox."

Rizban
2011-06-02, 02:01 AM
He takes you into the kitchen and points to a small, wooden box with a roll up door.

"It's in there."

planswalker
2011-06-02, 02:26 AM
Bear summons a monkey to open the breadbox.

Rizban
2011-06-02, 02:41 AM
The monkey opens the breadbox. There is indeed a beaver inside. It is dead.

planswalker
2011-06-02, 02:45 AM
Bear orders the monkey to retrieve the beaver.

Rizban
2011-06-02, 02:45 AM
He retrieves the beaver and carries it to you. As he sets it down, the monkey howls in pain and starts sucking on his paw.

planswalker
2011-06-02, 02:50 AM
Another poison needle trap, perhaps?

"Well, the beaver is dead. And also apparently yet another poison needle trap was placed within it. Whoever is out to get you, he apparently has free reign of your estate. Tell me, do you have security measures designed to prevent men from entering at will?"

Rizban
2011-06-02, 02:51 AM
"Of course not! That would just get me locked in a room as the building burns! I'm not stupid."

Do you check the beaver?

planswalker
2011-06-02, 03:24 AM
Bear casually examines the dead beaver, and should he find that poisoned needles were involved, he will chuckle.

Rizban
2011-06-02, 03:28 AM
The beaver has three needles stabbed into its gut. There appears to be no poison. The beaver appears to have died due to punctured lungs.

planswalker
2011-06-02, 04:21 PM
"Well, this beaver was killed by needles. I suspect your foe prefers them. Tell me, do you have names for anyone who might want you dead?"

Rizban
2011-06-03, 01:22 AM
"Hmmm... I think the beaver was the only one I know. His name was Steve. Though with all the needles, I might suspect some sort of fairy fey creature. The dirty monsters..."

planswalker
2011-06-03, 01:24 AM
"Although supernatural creatures are not impossible, the vast majority of such attempts are perpetrated by humanoids. Fey are more likely to send you into eternal slumber than poison you with needles. If you don't mind, do you work with any humanoids?"

Rizban
2011-06-03, 01:45 AM
"I once worked for a minor noble in Guildsman District who had a magical sandwich. Does that count?"

planswalker
2011-06-03, 01:50 AM
"Indeed so. What sort of terms did you leave on?"

Rizban
2011-06-03, 01:59 AM
"Oh, they hired me as an architect to design a block of flats. I remember it so clearly... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2PyeXRwhCE) They didn't like my idea though, so they paid me for my work and sent me on my way."

planswalker
2011-06-03, 02:14 AM
"Anyone else?" Bear asks, and gives a gentle nudge to his rat prodding him to go find out as much as he can about their new employer.

Rizban
2011-06-03, 02:28 AM
Did you watch the video? Think of it as him retelling the tale of what happened... accurately retelling it even.

planswalker
2011-06-03, 02:49 AM
the rat takes 20 to find out if there's anyone who wants him dead.

"It's a shame when that happens..."

After an awkward pause, "So, any other death traps in your own home?"

Rizban
2011-06-03, 02:51 AM
"Oh, sure, plenty. There's the assassin in the commode I already mentioned, every third stair is an explosive, the guest bedroom hosts a gelatinous cube, there's a bottomless pit in the attic, and half of the good in the pantry are either poisoned or out of date. I think I might be missing a few though..."

planswalker
2011-06-03, 02:58 AM
"Let's go flush out the 'assassin' in your commode."

Bear wonders what sort of stabby needle death awaits his monkey there.

Rizban
2011-06-03, 02:59 AM
He leads you up to the toilet.

"The sniper is in there, I'm sure of it."

He refuses to open the door or go near it.

planswalker
2011-06-03, 05:54 PM
Bear has his monkey open it and step inside.

Rizban
2011-06-03, 11:51 PM
When the monkey opens the door, a foul odor escapes from within. All who smell it must make a Fortitude save.

planswalker
2011-06-04, 10:41 AM
Bear gags at the odor for a moment.... [roll0]
As does his poor monkey..... [roll1]

Rizban
2011-06-04, 05:03 PM
The monkey succeeds his save but becomes sickened at the stench. Bear becomes nauseated. The noble passes out completely.

planswalker
2011-06-04, 05:08 PM
Bear dares a peek inside, praying that something died to create that horrible stench... or maybe a permanent sickening fog.

Anything but the contents of a privy allowed to ripen.

Rizban
2011-06-04, 05:17 PM
Indeed, there is a deceased dire beaver in the garderobe.

planswalker
2011-06-04, 08:12 PM
Bear leaves quickly, indicating for the monkey to close the door.

"So, what species is this sniper supposed to be?"

Rizban
2011-06-04, 08:16 PM
"Human, of course."

planswalker
2011-06-04, 08:21 PM
"Then I take it the dead dire beaver in your garderobe would be a surprise?"

Rizban
2011-06-04, 08:28 PM
"A what now? Did you say a dire dead beaver?"

planswalker
2011-06-04, 08:31 PM
"It's a beaver. A really big one. In your garderobe."

Rizban
2011-06-04, 09:35 PM
"Well, what's it doing there?"

planswalker
2011-06-04, 09:54 PM
"If I knew that, I'd be much happier with all this."

Rizban
2011-06-04, 09:56 PM
"Yes, me too."

He seems as confused as you are.

planswalker
2011-06-04, 10:20 PM
Wondering if a pattern will emerge, Bear asks, "Anywhere else a sniper is hiding?"

Rizban
2011-06-04, 10:22 PM
"Nope, not today. Only on Tuesdays."

planswalker
2011-06-04, 10:24 PM
"Any other dangers within your own house?"

Rizban
2011-06-04, 10:25 PM
"Just the ones I already mentioned..."

planswalker
2011-06-04, 10:28 PM
Bear has the monkey step on every third step on their way up to the attic.

Rizban
2011-06-04, 10:30 PM
Every third step creaks menacingly... just like all the others, but nothing happens.

planswalker
2011-06-04, 10:34 PM
"So, where are the explosions supposed to happen?" Bear asks as he climbs up the stairs.

Rizban
2011-06-04, 10:37 PM
"Umm... they must have worn off... or we're not walking wrong enough."

planswalker
2011-06-04, 10:40 PM
"Either way, they're safe now." Bear continues on to the attic, looking for the bottomless hole.

Rizban
2011-06-04, 11:02 PM
Instead of a bottomless hole, he find a portable hole spread out on the floor.

planswalker
2011-06-04, 11:45 PM
He sends his monkey in there to see what's inside.

Rizban
2011-06-05, 09:50 PM
As the monkey climbs inside, he cries out in fear that you interpret as fear of falling from a great height as he quickly disappears from view. The summoning spell ends.

planswalker
2011-06-05, 09:56 PM
Not sure how the assassin managed to make the portable hole that lethal, Bear tries to roll it up like a portable hole.

Rizban
2011-06-05, 10:49 PM
When he touches it, he feels drawn into it. Fortitude save to resist its pull.

planswalker
2011-06-05, 10:57 PM
[roll0]

Dearly hoping that fate doesn't crap on him, Bear attempts to resist the pull.

Rizban
2011-06-05, 11:02 PM
He resists the DC10 pull of the portal; however, he feels the force of the draw increase, and he realizes that each round he remains in contact with the portal will increase the DC and require another Fort save. Of course, he realizes this in terms characters in this world understand rather than D&D terms.

planswalker
2011-06-05, 11:07 PM
Quickly placing the portal in his pocket to avoid direct contact, he says, "Well, the bottomless pit is taken care of. I closed it."

Rizban
2011-06-05, 11:12 PM
He doesn't look entirely happy. "Well, now where will I dump my trash?"

planswalker
2011-06-05, 11:16 PM
"How about the window? The bottomless pit has a chance of sucking you in every time you touch it."

Rizban
2011-06-06, 01:44 AM
"Well, I just kind of threw useless stuff at it, like spoiled food, ragged clothing, strangely glowing swords, broken things, that icky mummified eye, and the creepy blue ball that the dragons hated so much."

He shudders at the recollection.

planswalker
2011-06-06, 01:58 AM
how many major artifacts was that? two? Or is one of those glowing swords the sword of Kas?

Very much wanting now to know exactly what it is he has in his pocket, Bear says, "Well, one of these times, you were gonna slip and fall in. I think having to find another trash receptacle is worth the reduction in risk of you dying."

"Did you say there is a gelatinous cube in your bedroom?"

Rizban
2011-06-06, 02:00 AM
"Of course not! Don't be silly. It's in the guest bedroom."

planswalker
2011-06-06, 02:07 AM
says the man who has so far been right about only one of his paranoid delusions.

"Fine. Would you lead me to the guest bedroom then?"

Rizban
2011-06-06, 02:08 AM
He of course does and stand well back from the door.

planswalker
2011-06-06, 02:15 AM
Bear converts his other jump spell into Summon Nature's Ally I and summons another monkey, having this one open the door for him again. This time, he also stands back from the door.

Rizban
2011-06-06, 02:22 AM
Poison needles stab the monkey as he turns the knob. Fortitude save, please.

As the door opens, it reveals a tick, gelatinous wall. Inside the gelatinous cube are three dead Dire Beavers.

planswalker
2011-06-06, 02:30 AM
[roll0]

wow. how did that even fit in there?

Rizban
2011-06-06, 02:35 AM
"Well, I was trying to call some tasty gelatin from another plane and got that instead. Obviously, it was a faulty scroll. I can't explain the beavers."

planswalker
2011-06-06, 02:48 AM
"I suspect the beavers were your assassin trying to let them loose to kill you. Do you want me to kill the gelatinous cube?"

Rizban
2011-06-06, 02:11 PM
"Well, it isn't very tasty, so it's probably a bad idea to try to eat it. I guess you should."

planswalker
2011-06-06, 02:47 PM
whats the result of the monkey's fort save?

Assuming the monkey isn't dead from poison, Bear commands it to go bananas attacking the jello.

The cube dies. There is now a dead, acidic gelatinous cube filling the guest bedroom. The good news is that now it's not actively trying to eat you.

planswalker
2011-06-06, 03:43 PM
Risking it, Bear takes the portable hole out of his pocket and places it on the floor in front of the gelatinous cube.

Rizban
2011-06-06, 05:13 PM
The cube and the entire contents of the guest bedroom, as they are stuck within the cube, are drawn through the hole. The room is now empty of everything but the hole.

As he runs, he notes that there are a number of other people jumping beneath it to the safety of the other side as it closes. The closer he gets, the closer the path comes to being shut. Suddenly, great wooden door begin to close over the portcullis... if only... no, he's not going to make it... If only he had been a little faster... he senses Death looming just over his shoulder, and still he runs... He dives, he rolls, and the portcullis slams shut. As the great wooden gates close, he realizes that he has been locked inside.

Bear takes the bag as his own possession.

"Would ya like to buy a flower, mister?"

planswalker
2011-06-15, 07:15 PM
"I actually came to speak with your leader about something far more valuable than mere money. Money cannot buy what the Sisters do for this city."

Rizban
2011-06-15, 08:29 PM
The girl looks at you and says, "Huh?"

planswalker
2011-06-15, 08:33 PM
"Can I speak with your leader?"

Rizban
2011-06-15, 08:41 PM
"Oh! She's inside."

She starts to pout and looks down at her flower.

planswalker
2011-06-15, 08:48 PM
Wishing that he had anything in the world to give her, Bear says, "I am sorry that I cannot buy one of your flowers for you, but maybe I can give you something? What's your favorite animal?"

Rizban
2011-06-15, 08:49 PM
She starts to jump up and down.

"Super giant horrid dire mammoths! They're just so cool! And they're like {snarl} and {grrrr} and {TRUMPET} and STOMP STOMP STOMP!!!"

planswalker
2011-06-15, 08:54 PM
"How would you like to be as strong as an elephant for the next hour?"

Bear prayed that the girl would think a significant boost to her own strength good enough.

Rizban
2011-06-15, 08:57 PM
"Do I get to stomp on people?"

planswalker
2011-06-15, 09:00 PM
"Well, do you think you should step on people?"

Rizban
2011-06-15, 09:19 PM
"Just the mean ones."

planswalker
2011-06-15, 09:40 PM
"Would the Sisters approve of you stomping on the mean ones?"

Rizban
2011-06-15, 09:47 PM
"Probably."

planswalker
2011-06-15, 09:57 PM
"Well, you know that with great power comes great responsibility, and it would be best if you made the sisters proud with how mature and responsible you are with your power. So, only smash them if they truly deserve it." He gives her a conspiratorial wink and casts bull's strength upon her. "Enjoy." He says as he enters the building.

A tall blonde in her mid 30s is leading evening prayers for a group of about 15 younger women. Two other women are walking among the younger women speaking with each individually in hushed whispers.

He dutifully bows his head and joins in the prayer, waiting for the service to let out before approaching the leader.

The prayers last about an hour before finally ending.

planswalker
2011-06-16, 12:04 AM
Bear dutifully prays with them. At the end of the hour, he walks up to the leader and says, "Excuse me, miss, but I am Bear Grylls. Would you have a moment to speak with me privately? I represent a party whose interests and your own coincide along certain aspects."

Rizban
2011-06-16, 12:08 AM
She looks are the rather ragged man who has been eating subsisting on trash and sleeping on the streets.

"Sir, if you are in need of a warm meal and a bath, then we are willing to provide without your needing to try to prove your worth in some way. Come, I can get you what you need."

She tries to lead you back towards the front where a few small boxes with meals in them lay waiting.

planswalker
2011-06-16, 12:12 AM
"Alas, madam, you misunderstand. I choose to live simply not because I am unable but because it helps me connect to the heart of the city better. I am gathering information on a certain Reverend Bright in the hopes of showing that he is not all that he seems. I was hoping you could help give me a new side to him."

Rizban
2011-06-16, 12:13 AM
At the mention of his name, her expression sours.

"Do not mention that name here. This is a holy site."

planswalker
2011-06-16, 12:16 AM
"So I understand. I am hoping to discredit him so that he does not have the power or influence necessary to oppose justice and life again. If there is anything you could tell me about him, I will use it to ensure he cannot continue his abominations."

Rizban
2011-06-16, 12:19 AM
She turns and summons two of the younger Sisters and whispers a command to them. They turn and hasten off.

"My fellow Sisters will be joining us shortly. Please, wait here."

She excuses herself and enters a back room.

planswalker
2011-06-16, 12:23 AM
Assuming that his sense motive check doesn't reveal deception in her voice, he waits here.

If it does, he has camraman follow her.

Rizban
2011-06-16, 12:32 AM
It detects suspicion and anger, but nothing more.

A few minutes later, she steps out of the room and enters another door, motioning you for you to join her.

planswalker
2011-06-16, 12:43 AM
Bear joins her.

Rizban
2011-06-16, 12:49 AM
In the back room, Bear finds her standing there flanked by two rather imposing looking women. She addresses you and doesn't seem very happy at all.

"Now, sir, tell me everything, and don't try my patience. I've had enough dealings with him to suspect you're working for him. Out with it."

planswalker
2011-06-16, 09:13 AM
"He is a cleric of Pelor. He seeks to destroy my employer, a Mr Black, and his organization. He assumes that his goal is to usurp position in the city for himself. It is suspected that he's involved in several unscrupulous activities, but track any of them back to him directly has so far been met with failure. He's devious in his dealings and brilliant in his covers. It is believed that he never leaves the temple."

"That is what I know of the reverend. My task is now to learn enough about him and gather sufficient evidence that I can discredit him and end his practices. My initial digging around revealed to me that the Sisters of Salvation, one of the most important charities in this sad city, has been at odds with him and I suspect he's behind a recent smear campaign against you. I was hoping you could help enlighten me more on his activities. I promise you, my goal is to bring him down."

Rizban
2011-06-16, 10:06 AM
"Hmm... Unfortunately, we know little more than you. He is definitely a powerful cleric of Pelor, and it is definitely him leading the campaign against us, though we also cannot prove this. It's like he is untouchable.

We aren't exactly a conspiratorial organization, so we don't have spies and informants. I don't know exactly what it is that you expect us to be able to provide; however, anything we can do is offered."

planswalker
2011-06-16, 11:08 AM
"I am trying to learn more about the person himself. What has he done specifically in relation to you? What does his smear campaign do exactly?"

Rizban
2011-06-16, 11:32 PM
"Various rumors have been started about us that have damaged our credibility. Chief among them are the ones that we keep the majority of the donated money for ourselves and that we only help the misfortuned for a chance at political power. Neither of which have any source of truth; however, they are also not easy to disprove.

It can't be proven that he is behind these lies, but they stink of him."

planswalker
2011-06-17, 12:33 AM
"Very well."

well, that was a complete waste of time.

Rizban
2011-06-17, 06:28 AM
Maybe, maybe not... You haven't asked them anything other than about the rumors.

planswalker
2011-06-17, 09:12 AM
"I am trying to learn more about the person himself. What has he done specifically in relation to you? What does his smear campaign do exactly?"
the bold parts were not about the rumors.

"Is there anything else you could tell me that might be of help?"

Rizban
2011-06-17, 11:14 AM
"Well, he never seems to leave the temple, so he hasn't done anything directly to us. There have been a few thugs that have been harassing some of the Sisters lately, and last month there was a raid by the priests of Pelor on this very building due to "reports of undead activity." They disrupted everything completely. It's been hellish."

planswalker
2011-06-17, 01:12 PM
"I see. I'll keep my eyes and ears out then, looking out for any thugs that harass your sisters. I cannot promise that I can make them stop immediately, for my talents lie in espionage and not combat, but I will use what talents I do have to ensure that the ultimate source of the problem is taken care of."

Rizban
2011-06-17, 10:34 PM
"Thank you, but don't just antagonize them. That will only make it worse."

planswalker
2011-06-17, 10:45 PM
"That is the attitude of an abused victim who's given up. Don't tell me that's something you'd tell a woman whose husband is abusive."

Rizban
2011-06-17, 10:56 PM
"I'm telling you to either put a stop to them or to leave them alone. If you just make them mad and get one of my Sisters killed, I will have you hunted down and brought to court for justice."

planswalker
2011-06-17, 10:59 PM
"If I botch things up badly enough to get worse, I will willingly help you bring me to justice."

Rizban
2011-06-18, 01:56 AM
She gives you one curt nod.

planswalker
2011-06-18, 02:21 AM
Bear leaves, and heads over to the temple to Pelor.

Rizban
2011-06-18, 04:40 AM
The temple of Pelor is a large complex, surrounded by a single, unbroken, save for a single gatehouse, round wall covered with golden accents designed to look like the sun when viewed from above. A massive golden sun the size of a troll sits atop the center of the temple. Though not quite the largest temple in the city, it dominates the district by its shear expense.

planswalker
2011-06-18, 04:55 AM
Hm... so much wealth and yet they oppose the Sisters? Whatever for?

Bear urbanshapes into an eagle and perches on the top of the oversized sun. Camraman searches for a rathole to enter by.

Rizban
2011-06-18, 05:05 AM
As you approach the sun, you feel a presence within it. You suddenly feel like sitting atop it would be a very bad idea.

Camraman circles the entire temple and finds no point of ingress save for the gatehouse. The walls are intact and unbroken.

planswalker
2011-06-18, 05:08 AM
Camraman will do his best to sneak into the gatehouse.

Bear will attempt a spellcraft to identify the nature of this magic sun, should it prove magical. [roll0]

Rizban
2011-06-18, 05:10 AM
Bear does not identify anything magical about it.

Camraman does not think it wise for him to try to sneak past and is reluctant to do so.

planswalker
2011-06-18, 05:15 AM
Bear sweeps down and grabs Camraman up in his talons, informing him of the revised plan on the wing.

Bear flies up to the roof of the building and sets Camraman down. "Think you can find your way in from up here?"
