After seeing the same couple threads over and over every single week I think Gtip should make a special sub forum for handbooks to be posted on. This would create a place for people who wanna build CoDzilla or optimize Intimidate to go without re-posting the same questions over and over.

Plus there are some really good handbooks out there that really make you appreciate what your character can do.

Any ideas of how this could be done efficiently?

I think not every one should be allowed to start threads on this forum, but everyone should be able to post. Maybe to start a thread a moderator has to okay your handbook with a quick glance over. To make it better there could be a handbook ratings system.

That exists. (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?board=22) :smalltongue:

And if that's not enough for you (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=143)...

The thing is that GiantitP is not primarily a gaming forum. While this sort of specific, edition-centric subforum would have its place on, say, the site linked above or on the WotC boards, GiantitP is a bit to multi-purpose to get that specific when dividing its subforums.

We have the Role-Playing forum, and, while a sticky with these links might be a good idea, I don't think it's a big enough concern to merit its own individual sub-forum. I suspect the mods agree with me, although I won't presume to put words in their mouths.

I think the general mod sentiment is that adding new subfora is a pain, and they'll only consider it if the very world depends on it.

And even then, it could go either way.

Sheriff: We've just finished a significant reorganization, we're unlikely to add any subforums and time soon. A whole subforum for handbooks is far more specific than we want subforums to be. There are plenty of topics that occur as often as "I want to make a powerful X in D&D 3.5," and we won't be giving them all their own subforum. In addition to the policy reasons, more subforums mean more resources used in the backup and other places.

There is a sticky forum for notable threads in the RPG General forum: here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124685) If you think a similar thread would be beneficial in the 3.5 subforum, feel free to ask a mod for that section if they could make/sticky one.

subfora

Completely off topic, but I just wanted to add that while the correct plural for the Roman forum (in Latin) was fora, the correct plural for forum and subforum is forums and subforums. The word has been naturalised into the English language and given an English plural. Fora is generally only used as a plural for the original Roman fora.
