greetings playgrounders.

a few months ago I suffered a Red Ring of Death on my XBOX 360

after serving me faithfully for about 4-5 years...

naturally. I was.... put out. I yelled to the sky 'WHY!!" fell to my knees and began a very long monolouge about the injustice of it all, waking up my suitemates... I still mourn it's passing

however, my hard drive may be salvageable.

so I come asking the playground (My search-engine-fu is weak)

if I were to take the Hard drive from MY XBOX and plug it into another, WORKING xbox 360...

I should be able to find out if my data is still there without damaging the 'host' console correct?

this is super important so quick replies are much appreciated.

Yes. Hard drives generally are incapable of damaging the host system; the red ring may be about the hard drive, but if so the worst that'll happen is that you'll discover the drive is unreadable.

that's good to know

I dunno what I'd do if I blew up my nephew's or a friends' xbox.
